I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 615: Chapter 614: Refusing to Speak

Du Chunmei hid her true nature well in front of Beidewang, and even scolded Beisitian in front of him, but always under the guise of doing it for her own good, using excuses like how girls would suffer if they weren’t strictly disciplined, especially when they married into their husband’s family.

Beidewang was deeply devoted to medicine and left most household matters to the women. He was somewhat aware of Du Chunmei’s intentions but thought that the villagers were simple folks and that even if there was some beating and scolding, it wouldn’t be too excessive. Things continued like this until Beisitian was twelve.

He thought that since the child was now twelve, she would have developed some feelings for Du Chunmei after living together for so many years, and he began to focus on his own matters. Then something unexpected happened, and he took the opportunity to ’leave this world,’ stepping out of everyone’s sight.

Beidewang wept bitterly as he listened to Beisitian recount her story in a calm tone. His tears were uncontrollable. His biological daughter with Mei Jun had been treated so cruelly by that malicious woman!

”I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Beidewang cried, clutching his head in agony.

Beisitian felt very little. The original owner was already dead, and no matter how grief-stricken Beidewang was now, the original owner couldn’t hear it, and she, for some reason, just couldn’t muster any feelings for him.

However, Beisitian worried that his emotional outburst could worsen his condition, which had been improving, and so she spoke up.

”The past is the past. I have met a good father and mother-in-law who treat me like their own daughter, and I am very happy now,” Beisitian said.

Though meant to comfort, her words pierced Beidewang’s heart like a thorn. Even her in-laws treated her like their own daughter, yet he, her own father, seemed like an outsider!

Beisitian was voicing what the original owner would have said, feeling she should say it on their behalf.

”You don’t need to feel guilty. I just want to know certain things. I hope you can tell me,” Beisitian said.

She still wanted to learn the truth from Beidewang.

Beidewang gradually stopped crying. His emotions didn’t collapse; maybe the outpouring had instead helped him focus more.

Sitting there, Beidewang first stared blankly for a while, then shook his head, ”I can’t remember the past, lots of important things, I just can’t remember. But I know there are things I have to do, things I must do. When I remember, I will personally resolve everything!”

He didn’t want Beisitian to get too involved in this matter; it had been his lifelong wish. So even if he couldn’t remember some things, he sincerely hoped from his heart that Beisitian would stay out of it.

Beisitian frowned. His words carried a sense of finality, suggesting he might indeed have forgotten some things, but there were certainly aspects he knew, such as issues about Bei Jiale!

But Beisitian was hesitant to mention her name, fearing it might worsen Beidewang’s condition. Although he refused to speak now, there might still be ways to find out. If he returned to his old state, there would be no trace.

”Regardless of what you want, I’m already involved in this. The less I know, the more passive I become, and there are already some unsettling signs around me. If you still consider me your daughter and hope for my well-being, I hope you can tell me.” Beisitian laid it out clearly.

Beidewang gave a wry smile and said, ”There are some things you’re better off not knowing. Knowing them does you no good!”

Always the same answer!

Beisitian furrowed her brows more tightly. Beidewang was tight-lipped, and no matter what she said, he refused to speak.

She could see that the matter concerning Bei Jiale was difficult for him to talk about, and there must be something unimaginable that had happened.

”Here is today’s medicine.” Beisitian handed him a small porcelain bottle intending to leave afterward.

Beidewang took it and drank it down without hesitation, his face changing instantly.

By then, Beisitian had already turned to leave and didn’t see the expression on his face.

Beidewang held the small porcelain bottle, staring blankly at it while carefully smacking his lips. No wonder he was recovering so fast; the talismanic water... it was made from the Spiritual Talisman!

Even without guidance, both children successfully created their Spiritual Talismans themselves. Both were born prodigies, yet why did fate have to be so cruel? This was indeed a case of ’Heaven is jealous of outstanding talent’!

Beidewang tightly gripped the small porcelain bottle in his hand, his face filled with resentment.

Beisitian was also not in a good mood. She had said everything, yet Beidewang remained unmoved; without valuable information, her efforts were in vain.

Wu Yuekai didn’t need to ask; he could tell from her expression that she hadn’t learned anything she wanted to know. Seeing her upset, he didn’t question her further.

”I’ve heard that twins or multiple births often lead to premature labor. You should be mentally prepared. Don’t panic when the time comes. Have you got everything ready?” Wu Yuekai asked.

Seeing Wu Yuekai more nervous than herself, Beisitian smiled softly, ”Everything is ready. Don’t worry, elder. I know how to deal with water breaking or spotting. My mother has always stayed by my side at home, even sleeping with me at night.”

Professor Qiu had mentioned this issue and advised her if the water breaks, she should lie flat and avoid standing up, and no need to worry about spotting. Professor Qiu even jokingly said, if she starts spotting, she could take a shower and head to the hospital herself.

After all, postpartum confinement doesn’t allow for bathing or washing hair.

Both Beisitian and Mrs. Qin had a thorough understanding of these issues. Nowadays, childbirth was different from their time, where a midwife at home would suffice. Now everything is more delicate, and she was willing to pamper Beisitian a little.

Moreover, this was Beisitian’s third childbirth; nothing could be neglected!

Wu Yuekai nodded and said with a smile, ”You’re lucky to have found a good mother-in-law.”

Beisitian smiled, indeed it was true.

As her body grew heavier, Beisitian wasn’t fond of going out much, except to a few fixed places, one of which was the old man’s place. Currently, she was treating Ning Jiayin and also a young man named Cheng Tianji. Usually, Beisitian stayed at home, waiting peacefully for the babies to be born.

”Have you thought about the names for the kids?” Wu Yuekai asked casually.

Beisitian shook her head, ”Not yet. I don’t know if they’re boys or girls, so it’s hard to decide.”

Wu Yuekai lightly cleared his throat, glanced at Beisitian, then looked at her belly, his eyes gradually lighting up.

”I’ll be their grandfather; I have the right to name them...”

Before Wu Yuekai could finish, Beisitian burst into laughter, ”Even if you didn’t mention it, I was planning to ask you to name them yourself~”

Hearing this, Wu Yuekai’s eyes brightened as he took out a small notebook filled with dense handwriting. ”I casually went through the dictionary and came up with some good names.”
