I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 612: Chapter 611: Awakening

Beisitian suggested Ma Tianlai give it a try; she didn’t guarantee success but said there was a possibility.

Because she recalled that the other day Maynard not only took away the medicinal cuisine but also specifically asked how to write these two words, they had also discussed the medicinal cuisine issue on the road earlier, showing great eagerness to learn about medicinal cuisine.

So she felt Maynard might be interested. If he was interested and the information reached his ears, a single mention from him as a foreign guest could be more useful than any connection Ma Tianlai might make!

The authorities naturally wanted to promote the essence of the nation. If Maynard indeed had such a demand, they would be more than happy to oblige!

As to how the message could be relayed to Maynard, it depended on how Ma Tianlai operated. Beisitian didn’t need to utilize her connections anymore, Ma Tianlai should be able to manage it. If not, it wouldn’t be worth bothering the seniors over such a trivial matter.

Since that day, Beisitian hadn’t seen Maynard again. It made sense, given his status; going to Shichahai probably required some sneaking out, or else it wouldn’t be possible for him to play chess by the lakeside with the old gentlemen surrounded by so many bodyguards.

Beisitian wasn’t entirely unaware of his affairs; the news had been constantly reporting on the reception event. If she remembered correctly, it was supposed to be held next week.

The news had been quite focusing on this reception, as well as on Maynard, because he was in China this time for charity work. He would cut the ribbon for the screens of twenty-two soon-to-be-completed hope primary schools, enabling children who couldn’t afford schooling to attend.

For this, the authorities specially established a charity foundation named Morris after Maynard to commemorate him and spread his noble virtues.

The publicity theme this time was ’Boundless Love,’ mainly derived from Maynard’s identity as a foreigner. It also indicated from another perspective that since diplomatic relations were established, international relations were stabilizing, and international status was gradually being elevated.

This is quite beneficial for boosting the people’s confidence, and naturally, it should be heavily promoted.

Ma Tianlai had come a few times during these days; he hoped Beisitian could use some connections to smooth things over and seize this opportunity, but evidently, Beisitian didn’t plan on doing so.

”Relying too much on others won’t do; even the best relationships lose value if overly used,” Beisitian said.

Ma Tianlai smiled wryly, a fifty-something man being lectured by a twenty-year-old woman, yet he didn’t feel displeased, instead, he felt it was quite reasonable.

Beisitian was right, and Ma Tianlai understood it. He hoped Heavenly Blessing could develop rapidly in the shortest time, but he knew he was being a bit too hasty. Since Beisitian didn’t plan to utilize her connections, he had no objections.

You must eat your meals one bite at a time, and walk your path one step at a time. Such progress is most reliable.

”Alright, I’ll listen to Doctor Bei. I haven’t been idle these days; after Doctor Bei mentioned it that day, I went ahead and tried opening some connections. However, whether it reached that foreign guest’s ears or not is unknown,” Ma Tianlai said.

Actually, even if the word got through, if the guest didn’t have such a demand or felt it was impolite to make requests in someone else’s country with such a mindset, leading to a reluctance to speak up, they would have to give up on this opportunity.

Ma Tianlai hadn’t finished his words when a knock was heard at the door, and Wei Zhongxun got up to open the door.

The door opened, and Peng Baocheng walked in hurriedly, not even stopping to greet Wei Zhongxun.

”Doctor Bei! Doctor Bei! My wife... my wife has woken up!” Peng Baocheng’s face and tone couldn’t hide his excitement.

Upon hearing this, Beisitian stood up, ”We’ll go there now.”

Ma Tianlai was a bit freer during this time after being busy, so he decided to follow Beisitian.

After Luo Xudong recovered, he reported back to the troop; the situation was rather severe with casualties, which was quite burdensome for him.

After saying a word to Mrs. Qin, Beisitian went home with Ma Tianlai and Peng Baocheng.

”Doctor Bei, I never expected this; I really never expected that my wife would wake up one day. In the morning, she was still asleep when I checked on her. After lunch, as usual, I planned to take a look before going out, and upon opening the door, I found my wife sitting up on the bed!”

On the way, Peng Baocheng roughly explained the situation to Beisitian.

At that time, he saw his wife Ning Jiayin half-reclining on the bed, and he stood there dumbfounded, not reacting until Ning Jiayin called him, snapping him back to reality.

”However, my wife’s memory seems a bit confused. This wouldn’t cause too much trouble, would it?” Peng Baocheng asked, amidst his joy, inevitably feeling a bit worried.

”Let’s check it out and then talk,” Beisitian said.

Ning Jiayin’s head injury caused her to become a vegetative state, which very likely affected her memory. But since she could call Peng Baocheng, she probably hadn’t forgotten anything, at most she was just a bit confused.

The three quickly arrived at Peng Baocheng’s home and went to Ning Jiayin’s room.

After discovering Ning Jiayin awoke, the caregivers had already conducted a relatively comprehensive examination on her, but only externally, and had stayed by her side without leaving.

When Beisitian saw Ning Jiayin, her face still showed a lot of confusion. During the more than an hour Peng Baocheng had left, she had asked the caregivers and learned that she had been asleep for almost three years!

No wonder she felt her head was fuzzy, her body soft, and she lacked strength, even finding it very exhausting to get up.

”Xiao Yin!” As soon as Peng Baocheng entered the room, he called out. For almost three years, he called this name every day without ever receiving a response. Now, suddenly having someone reply, even just agreeing would make him happy for half a day.

Hearing Peng Baocheng call her by that name in front of so many people, Ning Jiayin was a bit shy, her face slightly reddening.

Seeing this, Peng Baocheng couldn’t help but gently embrace Ning Jiayin.

Ning Jiayin wasn’t aware of the agony Peng Baocheng had endured while she was in a coma, but his feelings of joy were still conveyed to her.

Ning Jiayin still had some pallor on her face. Even though there was talismanic water to maintain her condition, she had been in a coma for too long, certainly not showing the normal healthy complexion.

Ning Jiayin’s gaze fell on Beisitian; she recognized Ma Tianlai, but who was this?

”Have we met? I find you familiar,” Ning Jiayin asked Beisitian, eyes full of confusion.
