I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 608: Chapter 607: A Foreigner Who Loves Calligraphy and Paintings

Beisitian had never felt so stifled before, but she had no way of making Beidewang speak.

Thinking over and over again, she never expected this outcome. Beidewang might not be entirely good, but he should have remembered many things, including Bei Jiale’s situation. He didn’t speak up, so she didn’t know anything either.

”Don’t worry, if it doesn’t work out, we can start with Bei Jiale. Even if it takes a long time, we have the time to wait,” said Wu Yuekai.

Beisitian could only suppress her anger and sat gloomily in the living room. Strictly speaking, Beidewang wasn’t a responsible father. He left his twelve-year-old daughter to a malicious stepmother. Wasn’t he worried that the stepmother might harm his daughter?

The original person was sold twice by the stepmother. If not for Mrs. Qin, Beisitian’s current fate might remain unknown, but it certainly wouldn’t have been good.

So, even for the sake of the original person, Beisitian found it hard to change her attitude towards Beidewang; to her, he was just a father in name.

”We need to find a way to make him talk,” Beisitian said with a slight frown.

Finding Bei Jiale is certainly part of the plan, but Bei Jiale is like a slippery eel, hard to catch. Beidewang is relatively easier to approach.

Beisitian had no clue how to make Beidewang speak. She knew the least about these matters; even Bei Jiale knew more than her.

With nothing gained, Beisitian returned, her mood somewhat spoiled, only recovering after visiting the hospital.

Luo Xudong had encountered Bei Jiale twice. Clearly, Bei Jiale was active across the country, even in border regions. What exactly was she doing? Was she plotting something?

Beisitian gently placed her hand on her swollen belly; less than three months remained until her due date. No matter what, she must ensure the baby arrives safely in this world.

After half a month’s recovery, Luo Xudong was discharged from the hospital. Walking was no longer an issue as long as he avoided strenuous activities. Because of this, he enjoyed a period of leisure, allowing him to accompany Beisitian at home.

Ma Tianlai visited every other day to discuss sales figures of Heavenly Blessing with Beisitian, whose strategy was already showing results.

Initially, Heavenly Blessing’s name circulated only among the wealthy. Later, due to some people’s ”candid photos,” information spread. Although the actual photos eventually disappeared, many saw them and knew that many bigwigs attended that banquet.

With so many generals, secretaries, and deans attending, Heavenly Blessing is bound to become a big brand—provided the decision-makers aren’t foolish.

Some people with minor ailments began buying these medicinal products, surprisingly finding them more effective than medicine. Although the cost was several times higher than imported drugs, they contained no additives, had no side effects, and tasted great.

Furthermore, they had money, so naturally, they wanted to consume high-end goods.

Besides Ma Tianlai frequently visiting, Peng Baocheng also came often. His wife’s condition had substantially improved, though she hadn’t regained consciousness. Due to Luo Xudong’s situation, medicine was paused for a while but resumed now.

According to Ning Jiayin’s situation, another couple of doses of talismanic water should wake her up.

Receiving this news, Peng Baocheng was overjoyed, naturally fully trusting Beisitian’s words. Since Doctor Bei said she would soon wake up, it must be true.

His main purpose for visiting was to pledge allegiance to Beisitian. Unfortunately, he didn’t have opportunities like Ma Tianlai. As Beisitian wasn’t planning to start a company, he couldn’t become a shareholder of Heavenly Blessing. Hence, he could only work hard to establish a presence and find chances to pledge allegiance.

”By the way, Doctor Bei, is Heavenly Blessing participating in the sponsorship recruitment for the reception? Given Brother Ma’s vision, it’s likely he’s vying for the slot,” he asked.

This was indeed a great promotional opportunity; the reception catered to outsiders, rumored to include members of the UK royal family.

Opportunities for such exposure were rare, and Ma Tianlai would certainly not miss it.

Indeed, Beisitian nodded. Ma Tianlai had already discussed it with her, planning to go all out to secure the sponsorship slot.

Speaking of this reception, Ma Tianlai mentioned that Tai Jinglin was responsible for the venue, indicating Tai Jinglin’s strong background. Otherwise, such great matters wouldn’t have fallen on him.

The sponsorship recruitment had already begun, reportedly having undergone several rounds of selection, eliminating many business families. Though Heavenly Blessing’s prior influence hadn’t completely dissipated, Ma Tianlai was well-prepared, including gift-giving and hosting events, making it quite likely to become a sponsor.

The reception’s scale wasn’t large, but its impact was widespread. As a new company, Heavenly Blessing still lacked confidence. Securing this sponsorship could be a significant leap forward.

Peng Baocheng didn’t stir this time; he had other matters demanding attention, unable to divide his focus extensively—a bit of a pity.

As the due date approached, especially with triplets, it was difficult to hold out until the due date, often resulting in early birth. Hence, whenever Beisitian went out, she was always accompanied. She also started consciously strolling as it helped with delivery.

Sitiang occasionally visited Shichahai, strolling along the water’s edge, finding amusement watching elder fishermen.

This area often attracted foreign tourists. In Beijing, foreigners tended to gather in specific places, where you’d often see high-nosed, blue-eyed foreigners.

Beisitian was unfazed; she had seen westerners in her previous life, and now their presence hardly surprised her.

However, it was intriguing to see foreign elders playing Chinese chess with Chinese elders.

”Let’s go over there and take a look,” Beisitian suggested with a smile, pointing towards a pavilion.

Luo Xudong nodded, and they strolled towards it.

From such a distance, Beisitian knew they were playing chess, because every day several elders played there. Today, this foreign elder seemed to be a challenger.

Beisitian didn’t have much knowledge of chess, so she couldn’t judge the skill level, but seeing the Chinese elder pondering intensely suggested he was at a disadvantage.

Finally, the Chinese elder lost, and the foreign elder stood up triumphantly, ”Let’s call it a day; we shall continue the battle tomorrow!”

Although his Chinese was somewhat awkward, his pronunciation was clear.

”Tomorrow is fine; we still have experts who haven’t arrived yet!”

”As agreed, if you all lose, you’ll owe me a calligraphy painting by Mr. Wu!” The foreign elder said and walked away.

Once again, Beisitian was surprised. Hearing that someone wanted Mr. Wu’s calligraphy paintings wasn’t shocking—many in the calligraphy world admired his works—but she hadn’t expected foreigners to be fans as well.
