I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 630: Chapter 629

Maynard didn’t want to leave, but he had no choice. He was too busy to wait here idly for half an hour, so he left with reluctance at every step.

Once outside, he instructed the big-nosed foreigner to prepare a sumptuous meal for the two people inside the house, thoughtfully including food and drinks suitable for a pregnant woman.

Although the big-nosed foreigner was Maynard’s top bodyguard, Maynard had more than one bodyguard. He left him to entertain Beisitian and the other person, showing just how much he valued them.

Since the room was a suite, Beisitian and the other person eating in the living room didn’t disturb Zheng Qiushuang.

Noticing that about twenty minutes had passed, Beisitian felt it was about time and got up to walk into the bedroom.

The room wasn’t very well-lit. The warm yellow light was somewhat dim, but it wasn’t harsh on the eyes, so one wouldn’t find it glaring upon waking up.

Perhaps the opening of the door made some noise, causing Zheng Qiushuang’s eyelids to twitch. She slowly opened her eyes, moved them slightly, and her face took on a look of confusion.

Beisitian approached slowly, softly asking, ”Are you feeling any better?”

Upon hearing the voice, Zheng Qiushuang turned her head and saw Beisitian, displaying a moment of absent-mindedness, as if trying to recall who this person was.

”Where am I?” Zheng Qiushuang asked in a somewhat hoarse voice.

Beisitian smiled, not surprised that she had regained some consciousness, but unsure how much she remembered about the people around her.

”This is the venue for Mr. Maynard’s reception, and you’re resting in a VIP guest room,” Beisitian said.

”My husband? Where is he?” Zheng Qiushuang frowned, feeling like she couldn’t remember many things.

Moreover, why did the pregnant woman in front of her seem so familiar?

”Mr. Maynard will be here in a while,” Beisitian replied.

Now that Zheng Qiushuang was awake, once Maynard arrived, Beisitian’s role would be over. When the time was right, she intended to remove the silver needle from Zheng Qiushuang’s head. Otherwise, once the effects of the talismanic water wore off, the silver needle could cause great harm to the central nervous system.

”Wait a moment,” Zheng Qiushuang called out to Beisitian, who was about to leave, ”Do we know each other?”

Beisitian smiled lightly, ”No, we don’t know each other. I am the doctor responsible for your treatment this time.”

Upon hearing the word ’doctor,’ Zheng Qiushuang fell into a daze again, suddenly recalling who the person in front of her was.

”Sister Mei Jun... are you Sister Mei Jun?” Zheng Qiushuang hesitated, then shook her head, ”No, you’re not Sister Mei Jun, but you look so much alike!”

Her murmuring made Beisitian’s eyes widen slightly; this woman actually knew her mother!

”Tian Meijun is my mother; do you know my mother?” Beisitian turned back, deciding not to leave.

”I see, are you the first or the second child?” Zheng Qiushuang naturally asked.

These words shocked both Beisitian and Luo Xudong, who exchanged glances. Beisitian’s fingers tensed as she forced herself to stay calm.

”I am the first child.” Beisitian wanted to subtly extract information, caught off guard by this unexpected revelation, hoping it might yield some insights.

Zheng Qiushuang sighed, ”Then I fear the second child must be...”

”My sister was abandoned.” Beisitian spoke calmly, as Zheng Qiushuang seemed unwilling to finish her sentence.

Her statement was purely speculative, based on Bei Jiale’s attitude toward Beidewang and Beidewang’s reaction to Bei Jiale. She assumed it all started with abandonment.

Sure enough, Zheng Qiushuang nodded, ”If you survived, then naturally, the second child would have been given away.”

So she was given away!

Beisitian’s earlier statement was ambiguous, with ’abandonment’ encompassing both ’discarding’ and ’giving away.’

”Why was my sister given away?” Beisitian asked.

Zheng Qiushuang shook her head, ”I’m not clear on the reasons; I only know it was your father’s insistence. At that time, Sister Mei Jun was devastated, especially after the child was truly given away. She fell into depression, nearly breaking down several times, and even though I and some friends tried to help, it was useless. It eventually escalated into severe depression, leading to a tragedy.”

As she spoke, Zheng Qiushuang sighed, recalling the past. Before she followed her current husband abroad, Sister Mei Jun had already succumbed to depression. She would frantically search for one child while carrying the other, but that beast Beidewang would send them to some remote mountain area, impossible to locate.

Ultimately, Sister Mei Jun committed suicide due to severe depression.

Beisitian felt a shock in her heart; Tian Meijun had committed suicide!

Regardless, at least some things were now clearer than before.

”Having someone like your father was truly unfortunate for Sister Mei Jun. Giving away one’s own child, regardless of the reason, can never be justified. The Bei family was indeed fleeing at the time, but your father was skilled in medicine, and with Sister Mei Jun’s help, raising two children might have been tough but not impossible. It wasn’t as if they needed to build a house or prepare a dowry for a son.”

As Zheng Qiushuang spoke, she became particularly angry. Before Sister Mei Jun’s suicide, she had already gone abroad, so hearing the news overseas had been a heavy blow.

”My father also feels very remorseful,” Beisitian said.

She didn’t intend to defend Beidewang; she just wanted to see if there was more to learn.

”Your father isn’t remorseful,” Zheng Qiushuang shook her head, ”You have no idea how cruel he was at the time, even contemplating throwing the second child off a cliff, prevented only by your mother’s tearful pleas, resulting in the decision to give the child away instead.”

Zheng Qiushuang couldn’t understand how someone could be that heartless!

Beisitian was also stunned. Both were his biological children, yet Beidewang could harbor such brutality? Why?

Zheng Qiushuang watched Beisitian with sighs, reflecting on the unfortunate plight of the twins. Beisitian had grown into a refined and beautiful lady, and the other would surely have been the same. Yet one was nearly killed by their father, ultimately given away to some isolated mountain area where they might never escape.

How much did Beidewang hate the second child?

Zheng Qiushuang truly couldn’t comprehend.

The news deeply shocked Beisitian; why would Beidewang do such a thing? A newborn couldn’t possibly offend him, especially since she and Bei Jiale were born one after another. Why despise just one?

As Beisitian was mired in confusion, the door opened, and Maynard entered. Seeing Zheng Qiushuang seated on the bed, looking towards him because the door opened, he froze.

”My dear!” Maynard’s voice trembled.

Zheng Qiushuang smiled sweetly at him, just like in her youth, ”Where did you go, leaving me here alone?”

Tears streamed down Maynard’s face.
