Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 437: 5 Years

”In the end, itʼs all about the cost.”

The moment she said those words, the four sovereigns couldnʼt help but squint their eyes. That was right. They could equip normal knights with the magic weapons, but if it was expensive, the burden would be too much.

Hence, they really needed to know the cost before coming to an agreement.

”First of all, Iʼm going to lay down all the information about the cores first.” Vivian took out a big paper and lowered it down so that everyone could see.

Proto Class: 1-15 ena

Juvenile Class: 20-250 ena

Mature Class: 300-4,000 ena

Warrior Class: 6,000-85,000 ena.

”Unfortunately, I donʼt have the number for the elite class to figure the last number. After all, whenever an elite class core appears on the market, there will be a huge auction. I donʼt have the resources to buy it, and no elite class cores have appeared recently.”

Julius crossed his arms. ”Why is it in range? Isnʼt it fixed?”

”No. The number of ena inside them will be determined by how strong the aliens were. As you probably already know, the alien classification is on the logarithmic scale. Of course, this is not counting an irregular such as a mutant.

”At the same time, my deviceʼs efficiency in absorbing the ena from the core is still at 50% efficiency. If we can improve it, it will be even more cost efficient.

”Most of the time, my device will absorb around 6-9 ena every proto-class core. So, killing a proto-class alien in a single slash might not be worth it. However, if you can kill two or three at the same time, you can easily cover the cost.

”In addition, if they can actually kill a juvenile class alien, maybe within a few slashes, you can get around 130-150 ena. In other words, juvenile class aliens are the most cost-efficient for this magic weapon.

”Of course, I wonʼt say much about the knight fighting style. In fact, they should be able to take down a proto-class alien even without using it, so I canʼt really say it has a high cost.”

Robert thought for a moment. ”Now that I think about it, didnʼt you mention that oneʼs talent could be determined by how much ena they could absorb? If Iʼm not wrong, the maximum is 10 ena, not 15 ena for a single core…”

”Iʼve mentioned that I donʼt really have many subjects, and itʼs only pilot data. Once Iʼve confirmed everything, I will change the number to a percentage. And thatʼs when the official registration begins, according to the Magic Tower.”

”I see.”

Vivian continued, ”I have prepared several projects for the development. The first one is to create not just a weapon, but also an armor or a support structure that can boost oneʼs power or movement.

”Unfortunately, Iʼm not too skilled in this, so I have made a contract with the Blacksmith Guild and the Magic Tower for this development. All rights are still reserved in my name, as Iʼm still the one leading the research.

”The second development is for massive weapons. Yes. Iʼm thinking about boosting a massive weapon like a ballista or catapult in order to make them even more powerful. This way, we can easily kill mature class aliens. Of course, this might not be cheap, but itʼs a good defensive or siege weapon.

”This is what Iʼm planning to offer to all of you, in addition to the original magic weapons.”

Balzak fell into deep thought. ʼThis is actually what we need. After all, offensive weapons are much more desirable.ʼ

”Last but not least, this battery can be used not only in a weapon but also in other things. For this project, I will be working with merchants, considering they are the ones who will be benefiting from this the most.”

Everyone could understand the three developments. Since it was spread, they could specialize in one thing. However, there were multiple development plans, so the battery technology wouldnʼt be monopolized by a single influence.

In the end, it could be called a magic weapon because of that battery.

ʼI see. There wonʼt be any monopoly. From the looks of it, that boy, Nathan, must have been aiming for this the entire time.ʼ The Pope smiled inwardly. ʼEveryone wants to succeed, so it will become a race to develop this project. If this continues, we might have a technological evolution. And it will definitely affect the battle against aliens.

ʼHowever, I canʼt predict how the world will change in the future. Once we push away the aliens, thereʼs a high chance the development will cause humansʼ extinction. Then again, there wonʼt be any huge-scale human war if the aliens push us to extinction, so I guess we shouldnʼt stop this development.ʼ

”And thatʼs all for my presentation.” Vivian put everything back neatly, allowing them to think for a while.

After several minutes, the Pope asked, ”Vivian. What are the conditions for the use of the magic weapon?”

Vivian didnʼt answer immediately. Instead, she asked for other opinions on whether they had finished their thoughts or not.

As soon as she received everyoneʼs agreement, Vivian raised three fingers. ”I only have three demands. First, this technology will be patented under my and my discipleʼs names. As a result, you will have to pay for royalties.

”Both I and my disciples have agreed to make you pay royalties for 5 years. After that, I will change it to open source so that everyone can learn and develop it.”

”5 years?” Julius gasped in shock. He thought, ʼ5 years is not that long for this kind of technology. I see. Her true aim is to let us develop it and make everyone get accustomed to this technology. By that time, there would definitely be a lot of new technologies.ʼ

ʼOnce 5 years are up, by giving it to everyone, she will be referred to as a saint. People donʼt even need to sneakily replicate her technology, and it will still be her name being put out there.ʼ Robert squinted his eyes.

ʼThose 5 years will definitely give them enough wealth to do whatever they want. And Vivian might be able to discover something new, so it doesnʼt really matter. The demand is very reasonable.ʼ Balzak nodded in agreement.
