Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 422: Misspoke... or Not?

”What did you say earlier?”

”What did I say earlier? Youʼre just too embarrassed?” Nathan looked confused.

”No. After that!”

Nathan recalled for a second before suddenly opening his eyes wide. He suddenly covered his mouth with both hands as if he realized he had messed up.

”Did you just say my father asked you to join the Frexia Academy? So, this whole time, both of you have been lying? You were supposed to make me join the Frexia Academy?”

”I didnʼt say anything. You must have heard it wrong.” Nathan shook his head furiously. He suddenly stood up and said, ”Thatʼs right. Letʼs eat. I want to eat…”

Alavenya grabbed the back of his collar and pulled him down to the bed. After that, she sat on top of his stomach while shouting, ”Donʼt you dare run. Explain to me! Everything!”

”I donʼt know what youʼre talking about.” Nathan shook his head furiously.

”Donʼt play dumb. You have said it.” Alavenya ground her teeth.

”Thatʼs right. I have told you about our role. As for the second thing, I want us—!” Alavenya grabbed his jaw and pinched his lips.

”I donʼt care about that right now. Tell me. Did my father order you to bring me to the Frexia Academy?”

Nathan just looked at her before closing her eyes, as if implying that she wouldnʼt hear a single word coming from his mouth again.

Alavenya was completely shaken. She thought, ʼDonʼt tell me… Itʼs all true? Father actually wanted me to go to the Frexia Academy and asked Nathan to join me on that expedition because he wanted him to recruit me like those three guys from the other academy.

ʼDid he say he rejected him at first? Was he innocent? With his current status, he couldnʼt be innocent. However, in the past, he was still an unknown summoner. His teacher, Vivian, wasnʼt a big name either. If my father used his influence, he could definitely pressure them.

ʼI remembered that they came from the Draconianʼs blood… He might have threatened him that he should make me go to the Frexia Academy if he wanted the draconian blood.

ʼDid everything happen not like what I originally thought?ʼ

Alavenya paused for a moment, reconstructing what might actually have happened back then.

ʼThat was right. He came for a mission. And that mission was to recruit me. However, that was impossible.

ʼThe only way to bring me to the academy was by taunting me. If it were only me, I probably wouldnʼt go. But because it involved my father, I ended up going to the Frexia Academy.

ʼHence, my father must have forced him to taunt me this way. He claimed to be scammed by him and endured my hatred this whole time.

ʼHe must know that he couldnʼt lose because he would be beaten up severely. The winning chance was slim, so he worked that hard just to ensure he didnʼt lose and fulfill the promise.

ʼWhile this guy is annoying, he is indeed a man with integrity. He chose to bear my hatred this whole time. My father must think that if I won, he hoped I would have liked the school after experiencing it for a few months. If I lost, everything would go according to the plan.

ʼDoesnʼt that mean my father had been forcing this innocent guy this whole time?ʼ Alavenya was completely shaken.

Her anger might have been misplaced this whole time. She should be angry at her father instead of Nathan because he was forced into this situation by her own father.

She had never thought this would be the case. Nathan was a cheerful guy, so he must never have really thought about it being a chore. He even mentioned it in a joking way.

Alavenya looked shaken. Her grip loosened as she moved away from him.

”I need to get some fresh air.” Alavenya just rushed outside.

Little did she know, Nathan was actually smiling. ʼHoho. Mr. Dragon King… I didnʼt lie, alright? It was her fault for misunderstanding it.ʼ

Meanwhile, Alavenya was facing a dilemma.

ʼHave I been mistreating him the whole time because of my misplaced anger? As he said, I should have fixed my anger issue. Itʼs the one stopping me from learning the whole truth. If he hadnʼt misspoken earlier, I wouldnʼt have realized this.ʼ

Alavenya clutched her head while crouching down. She had been hell-bent on beating Nathan, but could she do that after this?

In fact, if she took a look at the situation, Nathan had only been provoking her for the sake of the battle.

ʼThis time, it was him trying to fix my anger issue…ʼ Alavenya bit her lips. ʼHe had been helping me this whole time and just did everything according to what my father wanted. What have I done…

ʼI need to confront my father for this. However, he will probably avoid the question. I canʼt ask him if he has been manipulating Nathan or not. I just need to know whether he wants me to enter the Frexia Academy or not. If he answers yes, that means he is the culprit.

ʼHe has been wanting me to join the academy because he wants me to create memory whatsoever. While itʼs true there are people stronger than me in the academy, I donʼt see what kind of memory I can get. Instead, I should do something that breaks his plan.

ʼThatʼs right. If this is true, letʼs see… since he wants me to make memory so much, I will just stay in Nathanʼs place. This way, he will be so shocked that he will go into a panic. He has been very adamant about me getting close to a man, so he will definitely be panicking.

ʼAnd I will apologize to Nathan afterwards. I have no plan on accepting him, so itʼs fine. Once my anger issue is solved, I will move out again.ʼ

Alavenya took a deep breath. It seemed this was the only way.

With her new resolve, Alavenya returned to the room while saying, ”Nathan. Iʼm—!”

She wanted to apologize, but she soon saw Nathan nonchalantly eating the food. More importantly, he had actually finished two plates out of nine plates when he clearly ordered only one.

In that instant, her veins bulged as she couldnʼt help but think, ʼYeah. No. Both he and my father are unacceptable.ʼ

”You prick. Thatʼs my food!” Alavenya leaped toward him and ground his head again.

”Iʼm hungry after dealing with you!” Nathan shouted back as both of them ended up wrestling around the room.
