Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 423: Side Effect (Bonus)

”Hello… Mr. Nathan and Miss Alavenya…” Misha smiled wryly. She visited Nathan and Alavenya in their room.

In the first place, she couldnʼt imagine the two sharing a room. They had just fought each other a week prior, so she never thought they would have such a good relationship.

And what was more shocking was that the room was messy. No, they just barely fixed it after what happened earlier.

However, their hair was still messy. Alavenya was eating without caring while Nathan smiled apologetically, ”Sorry for all this mess. We understand. Have you gotten the information?”

”Yes. This is the list of the items that have been stolen. There might be other items, but itʼs hard to track all of them. We just track all the major items for the time being. And this book contains the catalog of the items that will be auctioned the day after tomorrow.”

Nathan crossed his arms. He first took a look at the list of the stolen items.

They were varied. There were all sorts of weapons and armor. The last two were just herbs.

”Do you notice anything?” Nathan asked. ”I feel like thereʼs a pattern here.”

”Yes.” Misha nodded. ”First of all, we are trying to see the kind of items theyʼre targeting. They have stolen from five nobles in this region.

”I believe they havenʼt stolen from other lords, or else they would have a hard time hiding from all of them at once.

”At first, I thought I could see the pattern, such as stealing only equipment, whether it was a weapon or armor. But as you can see, they also steal herbs.

”Still, if you take another look at this list, you will realize that all of them are items that can make you stronger. Those two herbs are used for body strengthening.

”In other words, theyʼre aiming to become stronger.”

Nathan agreed. ”Most likely.” He flipped open the catalog. ”Are there items youʼre going to auction tomorrow considered their targets?”

”Yes. We have two, actually. Although I canʼt disclose the identity of the sellers, the first item theyʼre going to steal is most likely the Flame Sword that is known to be made with the addition of a fire spiritʼs blood. It is a precious treasure that can increase the power of a flame user.

”The second one is a piece of armor made of an alienʼs skin. It is durable and elastic, so itʼs going to be good for high-speed summoners.”

Nathan thought for a moment. ”In that case, we will just let it be.”

”Huh? Do you mean letting them get stolen? I have increased the security…” Misha looked shocked.

”Currently, we have two paths. The first one is to guard these items until theyʼre auctioned properly. The second will be to let them get stolen and take it back. If we put some trackers on them, we will be able to locate them and deal with this organization entirely. Then again, this is just a guarding mission, so I will go with the first one.

”First, itʼs fine if you tighten the security, but just the overall security. Thereʼs no need to tighten the security on those two items.”

”Huh? Why? If we let them get stolen…” Misha tilted her head in confusion, unable to decipher Nathanʼs thought.

”If we increase their security, the enemies will realize that we have figured out their plan. It will be good that theyʼre going to retreat, thinking we have set up a trap. But what if they change their plan and steal other items? This way, their pattern will end up disappearing, and all hope of catching them is lost.

”Hence, we have to lower their guards, making them think we havenʼt figured out their pattern.”

”Still, thereʼs a possibility of them being stolen before the auction.” Misha crossed her arms.

”I know. Thatʼs why…” Nathan tapped the table. ”Jinwu.”

A three-legged crow appeared on his shoulder, startling Misha. ”Ah. Is this the legendary beast summoner? A crow?”

”Go with her to the auction house. Guard these two items. With your size, you should be able to sneak in and hide in a small place where no one can realize. If thereʼs anyone trying to get them, capture them.”

”Sounds easy. But Fenrir is more suitable for this, no?”

”Are you going to make him a guard dog? Well, we have bullied him with Brunhild, so no bullying this time unless he makes a mistake. Besides, the enemy will be wary if they realize thereʼs Fenrir on the way. You should know Fenrirʼs true size is huge, so I donʼt want to pay compensation for the damage.”

”But my sun fire will end up burning the whole building…” Jinwu raised his eyebrows.

”No. Just harass them with your physical ability, making them think youʼre a normal crow. After theyʼre distracted, you are to go back. This will give me a signal that you have encountered an enemy, and weʼll sweep in and fight them directly. Even those thieves require at least some time to grab those items, so this should be enough.”

Jinwu thought for a moment. ”Thatʼs easy then.”

He leaped to Mishaʼs shoulder and said, ”Letʼs go, little girl.”

Misha panicked for a moment. She never thought a familiar would perch on her shoulder. She wondered if this was an honor or something.

”Do you have any problem with this arrangement, Miss Misha?”

”I… I donʼt think thereʼs a problem.” Misha shook her head furiously. ”I will recall the security and spread them evenly so that they will think weʼre not aware of their targets.”

”Sounds good.”

”But the distance from this inn to the auction house…” Misha pointed at the auction house. She worried that Jinwu would disappear.

However, Nathan simply shook his head. ”Donʼt worry. My range is quite far. He wonʼt disappear unless he leaves this city.”

”Ah. I understand. I will leave the list and the catalog here.” Misha nodded. She awkwardly walked out of the room, her eyes taking a secret glance at Jinwu on her shoulder from time to time.

Nathan glanced at Alavenya.

”What? Are you going to take my food again?” Alavenya glared at him.

”No.” Nathan shook his head. He couldnʼt help but recall what the true form of her anger issue was.

Back then, the Dragon King looked confused when he asked about it. ”My daughterʼs anger issue? She doesnʼt have an anger issue. Itʼs the side effect of the Dragon Martial Arts.”
