I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 343 - 343 339 Fish Tail Grass343: Chapter 339 Fish Tail Grass 343: Chapter 339 Fish Tail Grass Mu Ying had already transformed and planted quite a number of plants from the Emerald World.

Based on her experience, there were roughly three patterns to Nature’s giving of Experience Value rewards for new types of plants.

The first was that under equal conditions, magic plants provided more Experience Value than ordinary plants.

The second was that plants she personally cultivated and created, such as Binding Vine, provided more Experience Value than re-cultivating existing native species from the Emerald World.

The third was that the more stable a plant was and the higher its Value, the more Experience Value it would provide.

This Value referred to the plant’s value to other organisms or the environment, the simplest being edibility.

Most ordinary plants generally had decent stability, but their Value was rather average, so they didn’t provide much in terms of Experience Value rewards.

Gill Pouch Grass likely gave so much Experience Value because of its high edible Value, which for mermaids could even serve as an alternative to eating corals.

There was even sugar in the water membranes, which could be extracted to make sugar.

Additionally, its powerful Life Force and short cultivation cycle made it very easy to grow, further increasing its value; the only downside might be the natural difficulty in preserving the leaves.

After the Gill Pouch Grass matured, Mu Ying stopped casting spells and gathered all the Gill Pouch Grass Seeds into her hand.

There were quite a few; she kept five for herself and gave the rest to Lily, “These are for you.

We will try planting some here together later.

You can take the seeds back to your tribe to plant and see.

Without using Plant Magic, they will germinate in about seven days, regardless of the season, and have a one-month growth period.

The only issue is that the leaves don’t store well; once ripe, they must be eaten quickly, or they might spoil in two or three days.”

Lily nodded, puffed up her cheeks, and blew a little bubble that covered the seeds before hanging them at her waist.

Mu Ying waved her Magic Wand again, and while the Gill Pouch Grass had not yet withered away, she harvested them using Cutting Magic.

A mature Gill Pouch Grass typically had three to five leaves, each around one meter long and shaped like narrow strips.

This one had five leaves; Mu Ying handed one to Lily, “Try it and see!”

Lily took a big bite and then her eyes lit up as she mumbled unclearly, “Better than coral!”

Mu Ying also took a bite.

The thick water membrane was jelly-like and somewhat sweet; the leaf inside was slightly thick, giving a good chew with a hint of saltiness.

This uniquely sweet and salty taste was quite nice; Lily had been conquered.

“So delicious!

How can it be both so pretty and so tasty?

I’m going to plant a whole field of them!

I just need to scatter the seeds in the ground, right?

That’s simple; I’ll go back today and pull out the corals, and plant these instead!”

She was so excited that she could hardly wait.

Mu Ying couldn’t help but remind her, “If you want each plant to grow bigger, with all five leaves, it’s best to plant them spaced apart.

Plant one every meter or so.

Also, after they mature, remember to collect the seeds, so they don’t spread everywhere; otherwise, it won’t be long before your village is overgrown, and it might get the moniker of ‘seaweed nuisance’.

Moreover, if you want fresh Gill Pouch Grass every day, it’s best to plant a new batch every three days.

Don’t plant too much at once.

That way, by scheduling planting over a month, you can harvest ripe Gill Pouch Grass daily without wasting any due to over-planting.”

At the bottom of the sea, other than storing the leaves in Space Equipment that could preserve freshness, there basically wasn’t any other way to store Gill Pouch Grass for long.

“But having it everywhere would be great!” Lily thought about the convenience of being able to bite into it wherever she went, and how beautiful the little star-like glowing specks would be.

How wonderful!

However, even though she said this, she still recorded Mu Ying’s advice in her shell book.

The two of them shared and ate the five Gill Pouch Grass leaves, their bellies round and full.

Then Mu Ying began to plant and harvest on a large scale.

This time she accelerated the growth of five seeds together and harvested the second wave a few minutes later.

After this harvest, she left five seeds to continue planting, and the rest were given to Lily, about enough for the merfolk to plant a small area each.

She kept a few leaves from this harvest as a snack for Lily, and preserved the rest in her Space Ring.

When the time comes, she will scrape off the jelly-like film on the leaves.

By processing the film and leaves separately, she can then prepare the Breathing Potion.

This Magic Potion was something she had also tried to concoct in the Trial World the night before, and it wasn’t difficult.

She had already successfully made it several times.

After repeating the growth acceleration a few times and storing a sufficient amount of leaves and seeds, Mu Ying designated a small, square plot of land at the campsite and planted a few Gill Pouch Grass Seeds with Lily.

Those could just be left to grow naturally.

Next was the fish tail grass.

“Fish tail grass is a perennial, aquatic shrub and a Magical Plant that only bears fish-tail shaped fruits when nurtured with Magic Power.

These fruits are the main ingredient of the Fish Tail Potion and also serve as the seeds of the fish tail grass.

Once germinated with Magic Power, if subsequent Magic Power is not provided, it will only grow branches and not bear fruit.

However, its ornamental value is still quite good, as each branch fluoresces with different colored patterns.”

“Once it bears fruit, I’ll give you a few seeds that have sprouted so you can take them back and try planting them.

Apart from not bearing fruit, they are relatively easy to care for.

It’s best to plant them in loose, thick sea sand, and ensure that no other plants are competing for space within a three-meter radius.”

Fish tail grass is a bit more delicate than Gill Pouch Grass, so it can’t be accelerated too quickly.

I will use Plant Magic to promote its growth each day and bolster it with Life Magic to enhance its Life Force.

It will take at least three days to reach the first fruit-bearing stage.”

Mu Ying said this as she spurred the germination of the fish tail grass seed in her hand, choosing a suitable spot to plant it.

Then came the continuous infusion of Magic Power.

Slowly, it emerged from the sea sand, unfurling delicate branches with multicolored fluorescent patterns.

When it grew to the height of her knee, Mu Ying stopped the Magic Power infusion, having reached her limit for the day.

It needed a day to absorb the Magic before she could continue.

Accelerating the growth of this one fish tail grass took several times longer than those several waves of Gill Pouch Grass.

The Magic Power had been as finely controlled as she could manage.

Under normal circumstances, infusing it with a little Magic Power each day to allow natural growth would be best, yielding fruit of a higher Quality.

Fortunately, this won’t affect the quality of the seeds within the fruit.

However, now that there’s a rush to expand cultivation, she had to push the growth to its limits.

The fish tail grass could grow as tall as Mu Ying’s waist, and though it was only knee-high now, its beautiful form was beginning to show.

It resembled colored lights strung on the branches of a dead tree at night, perfectly fitting the aesthetic preferences of the merfolk.

Lily, standing nearby, gazed at it with eyes brimming with delight.

Unfortunately, it couldn’t bear fruit yet, so she had to satisfy herself with just looking at this plant.
