I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 179 - 179 178 Clan Leader Ned179: Chapter 178 Clan Leader Ned 179: Chapter 178 Clan Leader Ned The Half-Breed Clan Chief was an old man dressed in leather armor, with grizzled hair sloppily tied back, possessing agility that didn’t quite match his age.

If Luofu hadn’t exposed his identity, Mu Ying would have thought he was just a lively ordinary old man!

After all, he even snatched snacks from little half-breeds.

Because he moved so quickly, the little half-breeds hadn’t reacted yet, and he had already popped the snack into his mouth, smacking his lips afterward, “Not bad, not bad, perfect with alcohol!”

The victimized little half-breed cried out woefully.

“Clan Leader!

You’re bullying people again!” Luofu accused, not forgetting to clutch her bag of chips tightly.

“Wow, the Clan Leader is here!” The little half-breeds, seeming very practiced, hugged their precious snacks tightly and scattered like birds and beasts.

Mu Ying had just fed half a chip to her mouth.

Crunch!

The Clan Leader?

“Such a little elf, how could your parents let you run around like this?” Ned flickered from Mu Ying’s left to her right, and the next second appeared behind her, examining her all around before suddenly dropping this question.

Mu Ying blinked, perhaps she could fish some information out of this slightly erratic Clan Leader?

She said, “I’m a player, an orphan.”

“How could that be, what kind of elf would abandon their child?” Ned frowned, “No, you’re a player, you should be human, but you’re definitely an elf, strange, strange!”

“What if one of my parents was an elf from outside?

I was a half-elf before,” Mu Ying voiced her long-held suspicion.

Ned was just about to nod when he saw the little elf staring intently at him; how could he misunderstand that?

“Are you trying to pry answers from me?

Although I’m not afraid of the fines at the Evolution Center, I can’t just tell you so easily!”

Mu Ying saw his eyes drop and glance at the greaseproof paper bag in her hand, she raised her eyebrows and crammed her last three bags of chips into the Clan Leader’s hands, “Keep these, they’re my last bit of stock.”

Ned looked impressed, “If you want to know, then look for traces of elves.

I remember this time there’s also a group of elves that migrated to this planet, heard they are confidants of the Elf King!”

Mu Ying nodded, if there were elves in this world, she could indeed inquire about some news, “Do you know where they might have landed?”

“I don’t know, it’s all random, and I’m not familiar with that group of elves,” Ned shook his head.

Unable to probe any further, Mu Ying set that aside for now, “Nice to meet you officially, I’m Mu Ying, the Lord of Qingshan Town.

I came here to invite you to join my territory.

I can set up a sub-camp outside this instance, but there are territory rules to follow, like...”

“Oh!

It’s you!” Ned said without thinking, “I completely agree!

But...”

Hearing this ‘but’, Mu Ying knew she could disregard everything he had agreed to before.

“But, I demand that this sub-camp be operated by our Half-Breeds alone, we’ll pay taxes as usual, and the entry fee is not a problem, but how and what we build must be up to us, how about that?”

Ned was among the few Half-Breed who embraced the concept of a communal race.

Unlike most of his kin, who preferred to integrate with other races in their settlements, he desired a settlement exclusively for Half-Breeds.

That’s why he gathered those who shared his vision and migrated to this planet, which was still evolving.

Mu Ying thought about it.

Did Ned mean something like an autonomous region?

In fact, she hadn’t really planned on managing affairs related to the Half-Breeds, nor did she entertain the idea that, as a Lord, the Local People should be her vassals.

She was uninterested in power.

Her role as a Lord seemed more like that of a businessperson, focused exclusively on managing her territory as a business, attracting more people, and earning more money.

She hoped the people of Qingshan Town would genuinely like it here and feel a sense of belonging, treating it as their home after the apocalypse.

So, establishing a Half-Breed autonomous sub-camp wasn’t a big issue as long as the money was right.

It just so happened that Luofu and Luo Ke hadn’t had the chance to discuss the situation in Qingshan Town with Ned yet, and since both of them had spent only a short time in Qingshan Town, they might not be familiar with the management style of the territory.

This was an opportunity.

After thinking, Mu Ying said, “Clan Leader Ned, here’s how it works.

Residents of Qingshan Town are categorized.

It starts with non-official residents, then official residents and star-level residents follow.

Official residents are allowed to purchase property within the territory without an entry fee, and star-level residents can acquire a property for free.

Among the star-level residents, Five-star residents can purchase a sub-camp, and under the condition of adhering to the main territory’s basic statutes— such as entry fee, tax, no fighting, and no deforestation—they enjoy lifelong management rights of that sub-camp.”

Ned was intrigued.

“How can one become a Five-star resident?”

“Well, to become an official resident and then a star-level resident, one needs a minimum of over a million Territory Contribution Points, even more for Five-star residents, who must have made special contributions to the territory.

I believe in the Half-Breed’s ability, but amassing those contributions could take quite long, and currently, there aren’t many territory tasks available.

So, here’s what I can do: I can issue you a temporary Five-star Resident Identity Card now.

You would have the status of a Five-star resident, but with a negative balance in Territory Contribution Points—you’ll owe for now.

You can use your Five-star privileges to buy a sub-camp for 100 gold, and you need to clear your Contribution Points debt within three years.

Just that from now on, whenever there’s a need for your help, you’ll need to lend a hand more frequently.”

Mu Ying spoke as if she was offering a substantial discount, though in reality, it was all superficial.

She issued the Contribution Points, and she had just set the price for the sub-camp.

Building a sub-camp hardly costs much; 100 gold was practically a steal.

Upon hearing this, Ned agreed immediately and pulled out 102 gold—100 for the sub-camp and 2 as the entrance fee for all Half-Breeds for a month.

“The Clan Leader is indeed decisive.

I’ll go and start building the sub-camp,” Mu Ying said gleefully, holding the money.

The construction of the sub-camp was swift, involving just erecting a protective shield and integrating a Short-range Teleportation Array into it.

She didn’t need to worry about constructing facilities or such; that was left to the Half-Breeds to manage themselves.

Mu Ying also wanted to use her territory ability to help build their houses, but Ned ultimately refused; they wanted to do it themselves.

Mu Ying found that more convenient, especially since outside the Half-Breed Replica was a grassy area with few trees, none of which were mature.

Using tree houses as dwelling units wasn’t very suitable.

If she had to do it herself, she would need to design and exchange blueprints, increasing the consumption.

With the sub-camp protective shield in place, even Half-Breed children could run out of the replica to play.

As long as they didn’t leave the sub-camp protective shield, they were safe everywhere.
