I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 154 - 154 153 Koutao Fishman154: Chapter 153 Koutao Fishman 154: Chapter 153 Koutao Fishman The morning after, Mu Ying was pecked awake by the bird-shaped essence she had summoned.

Before she even crawled out of her dwelling, the whole tree started shaking, and the bird-shaped essence rushed out, but it quickly vanished.

Mu Ying knew something was wrong, as the spells she had cast on herself the night before had all expired past their duration.

She hurriedly applied the Tree Skin Skill and the Spider Walk Skill to herself so that she could stand steadily on the tree.

Then, she fetched her flying broom and rode it, leaning low over the broom and flying out at top speed.

Finally away from the ground, Mu Ying hovered in the air, rolling up her sleeve to reveal a bruise.

In that brief moment she had come out, she had been hit several times; the Tree Skin Skill had not completely shielded her, and if her arm looked like this, the rest of her body definitely wasn’t faring any better.

And on the ground below, the tree she had stayed in the previous night had collapsed with a crash.

The culprits of all this were the Otherworld race she had pondered establishing relations with the night before.

They were a humanoid race as well, with fish heads and human bodies, their skin a slick purplish-blue, about the same average height as humans.

They were all charging at her, spears in hand, shouting loudly, and some were particularly persistent in throwing spears at her, even though their spears didn’t come close to touching even the tips of her toes.

As she had speculated yesterday, this race was intelligent, just not friendly.

They seemed to have their own language too, not Universal Language, so Mu Ying couldn’t understand what they were shouting, but their hostility toward her was crystal clear.

The tree Mu Ying had stayed in was at least thirty meters away from that village and hidden under the canopy of leaves, difficult to spot with the naked eye.

How did they find her?

Pity that flying in the air, she had to divide her attention to control the flying broom, and she couldn’t cast spells.

Considering how these creatures seem more agile in water, Mu Ying headed inland.

They clearly hadn’t given up, continuing to chase after her, but they weren’t fast—just numerous and seemingly as fanatical as lunatics.

Paired with their slightly chilling appearance, it was genuinely frightening.

When the distance was sufficient, Mu Ying landed and used Biological Recognition to probe.

“Koutao Fishman, a level 1 medium humanoid creature, amphibious, skin coated with oil, sunlight causing slight negative effects on their vision, they can perceive any living being within a 30-foot radius regardless of whether it is invisible or in another dimension, skilled with spears and nets.

Skill: Sticky Shield.”

After probing, Mu Ying quickly took off again.

These Koutao Fishmen only had a Challenge Level of 1 to 2, but there were too many of them—even if each one threw a spear at her, they could knock her down.

She could use offense as her defense, but before they came into spell range, she would be hit first.

Of course, Mu Ying hadn’t given up.

These creatures, like lunatics with such intense hostility, were intent on killing her from the start.

If she didn’t teach them a lesson, they might think she was easy to bully!

This time she didn’t lure them; she flew far away instead.

She found a safe patch of trees and healed the bruises on her body, then used the Feedback Claw to gather a large pile of wood and crafted them into a large, thick shield with the Shaping Wood Skill.

It was similar to the one she had made at the Chunan Camp; it was a pity she had to discard that one due to the inconvenient size of the Storage Pouch, so she had to make another.

After the shield was made, she stored it into the Storage Pouch and polished her two swords.

When her Mana Value had all recovered, she cast the Tree Skin Skill and the Divine Movement Technique on herself and took off once again.

Today, she was determined to teach those Fishmen a lesson!

Since they couldn’t communicate properly, killing them was the next best option, and it also happened to be just what she needed to reach the upper limit of her level 5 Slaughter Experience.

By the afternoon, the fiercely determined Mu Ying came back to an empty village.

Not a single Fishman to be seen in the vast fishing village.

Mu Ying: “...”

What was with these Fishmen?

They didn’t keep night watch, it was one thing for all to enter an instance, but to also leave in the daytime without anyone watching the house?

They always moved in a large group in disorderly fashion.

But today she wasn’t the same as yesterday; with no intentions of making friends now, she had stayed away from the village, but now they were enemies.

With the enemy absent, it was the perfect opportunity for a stealth raid.

Mu Ying didn’t hesitate to enter the village.

What was frustrating was that the houses in the village seemed uninhabited by the Koutao Fishmen; they were just empty shells standing there.

Aside from the sun-dried salty fish, there was nothing.

Not even a shadow of a treasure chest.

“It figures, the instance is their main base, naturally the treasures would be hidden there,” Mu Ying walked around the village and couldn’t find a thing.

In the end, she set the village ablaze with a torch.

Then she waited on the small hill where she had stayed the night before.

As the evening approached, the Koutao Fishmen returned, riding the waves with the day’s catch.

And then the Fishmen exploded with anger.

Such a large village of theirs—gone?

The ground was scorched, still warm, and the lonely replica gate stood there, highlighting the desolation.

With no outlet for their rage, they brandished their spears, running about in chaos, but none came within thirty feet of Mu Ying; they didn’t notice her.

Mu Ying was getting impatient; she pulled back her bow.

“Whoosh—”

An arrow burst one of the Fishman’s eyes.

The Fishmen all looked in the direction from which the arrow had come.

Of course, as the sun hadn’t set yet, their vision was somewhat poor; they only identified the direction roughly, each one actually looking slightly off.

Nevertheless, Mu Ying had achieved her goal of attracting the Fishmen’s attention and quickly stashed away her bow and arrow in exchange for a shield.

In her spare moments, she murmured a curse, “The Fishmen must die, the Fishmen must die, the Fishmen...”

The Fishmen were hot-tempered, and it was clear they lacked a leader among them.

Many, as soon as they entered their perception range, threw their spears in a panic.

Some spears went wide, dropping onto the grass, while others stuck in her Wooden Shield, having no effect on Mu Ying.

She gladly accepted the spears that had been thrown at her, pocketing them all in her pouch.

Once they got a bit closer, within her spell-casting range, Mu Ying opened a small hole in her Wooden Shield, peered outside, and launched a Blazing Flame Fireball into the crowd of Fishmen.

The Fishmen, coated with slippery grease and huddled together, were an easy target.

Mu Ying controlled the Blazing Flame Fireball, rolling it left and right, crashing through the Fishmen.

“Sizzle~”

The Fishmen were unable to dodge in time and were burnt severely, the smell of scorched fish spreading through the air.

The threat of death outweighed their desire to attack; those who were set alight hurriedly ran into the water to extinguish the flames, and even the unburned ones scattered to avoid being hit by the Blazing Flame Fireball.

A major flaw with the Blazing Flame Fireball was its slow rolling speed; once the Fishmen consciously dodged, it quickly became ineffective.

Next came the Wind Wall Skill, which she cast forthwith.

The Fishmen didn’t retreat after dispersing but moved to the left and right instead.

Mu Ying used the Wind Wall Skill as Attack Magic, trapping most of the Fishmen within it.

An invisible hurricane swept through the area; even the sand got mixed in, making it difficult for the Fishmen to move.

Some were lifted into the air and were bloodied by the abrasive sand.
