Chapter 1587: Shocking News

Zaecuria Kingdom.

”What? The Grand Protector of the Atracaeca Kingdom was attacked?” The king gasped.

”This...” The ministers looked at each other. They couldn’t help but worry.

”Yes, Your Majesty. The details are unknown, but according to the news released by the Atracaeca Kingdom, the assassin was the Supreme Devil.”

”That devil?” Another minister took a step back in fear. ”According to our report, this supreme devil has power beyond a normal spirit transcendence. He is a demonic human who has attained the king path.”

”Because there was no visible disturbance, we concluded that the assassin wanted his life while hiding himself. In other words, it was supposed to be a silent assassination.”

”Well, is there even a loud assassination? It’s an assassination we are talking about, not a freaking war.”

”I’m rhetorically speaking. Knowing he had failed, he hurriedly retreated. However, due to the lack of disturbance, it was clear that the injury was quite severe. If not, the grand protector would have alerted the rest of the people.”

”But wasn’t it the most reasonable outcome if he were still alive? What if he actually died?”

The question was obvious, but no one really wanted to answer it. It showed how scary the situation had become.

If even the grand protector could be killed like this, the supreme devil could easily kill the rest of them.

The king let out a long sigh before saying, ”We don’t know what exactly happened. However, we can conclude that this is something serious. First of all, try to see if the grand protector is still alive. With how silent it was, the supreme devil might not hurt at all.”

They all agreed. One of them stepped forward. ”Although we don’t know the situation over there, we know that the great protectors are still running the country. They’re strengthening their borders, especially the western border.”

”The western border? Isn’t that the border to the demon territory?”

”Can you blame them? It’s the supreme devil we’re talking about. The demons should be able to hurt them a lot if they come here now. And it’s not like us or any other kingdoms can do anything to the Atracaeca Kingdom right now due to the Ardagan family’s influence.

”And with the imminent war, we have no time to start a war with another human kingdom.”

The king thought for a moment. ”In that case, we will make it a bit more passive. Recall the three guardians of the capital city. Also, strengthen our border. Since the Atracaeca Kingdom has strengthened its western border, we will increase the number of troops stationed on our east border.

”I’m afraid that they will come from the sea, so we have to carefully guard against them. Regarding the Atracaeca Kingdom, we will try to offer some medicine to help the grand protector.

”As much as I don’t like it, the grand protector is someone who can be respected both as a fighter and as a ruler. And this is to show that the Zaecuria Kingdom would also like to fight against the demons.”

The ministers nodded furiously. If they recalled the three guardians, they would feel safer. Besides, this was better to prevent any potential assassinations of the king or the guardians.

After all, they were most likely to be the highest priority.

”The supreme devil has made his move, so the war might truly come soon. We don’t know how soon it is, but I think it will be within the next six months. During that time, I expect all of you to work tirelessly. The Zaecuria Kingdom will once again prevail.”

All the ministers simultaneously agreed.

...

Greenwood Kingdom.

The king was quite surprised by the person who visited the court all of a sudden.

”Raincart...” The king muttered. He had recalled their spirit transcendence rank experts as well, but he thought Raincart would stay at his home or maybe head to Noel.

Raincart solemnly said, ”The Greenwood Kingdom is facing a crisis. Spirit transcendence rank experts and the sovereigns are the key to this war. That’s why it’s more important to preserve them.

”Still, the soldiers are the ones fighting on the front line. If necessary, I will return to the battlefield once again.”

The king fell silent for a moment. They had just discussed this matter. It looked like they had to be on high alert for the next few months.

Still, there was one thing that he was curious about. ”Have you contacted your grandson?”

Raincart looked down, contemplating his words. ”I have. He expressed his shock. At the same time, he told me that this is a prelude. It is better to keep an eye on the demon territory. And the Greenwood Kingdom also shares a border with the sea. After experiencing the sea expedition, the terror from the sea might be bigger than the one on land.”

”!!!” The king widened his eyes and turned to one minister. ”What do you think?”

”I don’t know very much, but that’s because I have never gone on a sea expedition. Still, we have explored a lot of the land, but we haven’t explored much of the sea.”

The king realized that it was because they had limited knowledge that they couldn’t predict anything.

Hence, he declared, ”Strengthen our east border as well.”

”Understood.” The minister acknowledged the order.

...

Muivell Kingdom.

”Should we recall Conrad, Your Grace?” Marquis Nardt asked.

She thought for a moment before shaking her head. ”Conrad’s placement in the north is already good. Besides, he is safer there than here.

”On the other hand, Commander Oscar might have a similar strength to Conrad, but his true strength lies in his defense. So, it won’t be easy to defeat him, especially since he fought against the supreme devil during the previous expedition.

”As for the capital, it should be fine for the time being. Compared with other rulers, I look too green. Besides, the capital city has the Fleeting Arbiter. There’s no way the Grand Duke will watch his father-in-law die just like that.”

Marquis Nardt sighed. He didn’t want to admit that Noel was indeed too powerful, but it was definitely reassuring to have him as an ally.

It looked like a big storm would soon sweep all four kingdoms at the same time.
