System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1566: Leaving

”Noel. Are you really going?” Rose looked worried. Elaine was worried, but she didn’t think anyone would be a threat to Noel. The strongest powers in this world were the spirit king and the demon king.

Even if Noel encountered a demon king, he should be able to escape just fine.

Noel nodded. ”I apologize. This is a necessary trip for the sake of the incoming war. I have to get stronger as well if I want to erase the threat for good. Because of this trip, I might have to rely on you and Elaine to take care of the territory.”

”That’s also a problem, but it is not as important as your life.” For Rose, Noel could become as strong as she wanted, but he was still the same junior that she took care of during their time in the Demon Banner Army.

She couldn’t help but worry about his well-being even though he had become her master.

”Don’t worry. I should be able to handle everything that comes my way. The only problem is that I don’t know when I will be back. I want you to continue the preparation according to our original plan. If the situation has deviated a certain bit, you can go to Anna.

”She is reliable enough to understand a bit of my intentions. Besides, she can see potential danger.

”In addition, make as many airships as possible. What we need right now are airships that can be used not only by us but also by other kingdoms.

”The battle this time might be larger than anything the humans have seen so far, so we have to prevail.”

Rose scratched the back of her head, knowing that she couldn’t persuade her. ”I understand. I can speak until foam comes out of my mouth, but it won’t be enough to convince you.”

”Ahahaha.” Noel looked away, feeling embarrassed. He was just good at arguing.

”Anyway, before you leave, I need you to finish three things first. It shouldn’t take much of your time.”

”What three things?”

”The first one will be the fortification of all cities in the territories. They are the shield of this city as the heart, so you have to ensure its fortification. We might be able to inspect it as well, but you have the best understanding of it.

”As long as you deem it fine, we will continue. Currently, 14 cities have been built within the territories, with 6 more cities underway.

”Our population has reached 800,000 people. By using the reserve, 100,000 of them have become our soldiers.

”If possible, you should check Incetta, Tristan, and Howard’s cities. They have 30,000, 15,000, and 15,000 soldiers respectively by using our money.

”These 160,000 soldiers might not be enough to fight against millions of demons, especially without enough fortifications.”

Noel thought for a moment. ”That shouldn’t be a problem. However, because the new cities are still under construction, I can’t confirm completely.”

”That is fine. Your presence alone will raise the people’s morale. Besides, it will give the people the image that you are still within the territory, doing inspection and stuff.”

”Fair enough.” Noel nodded. ”I will do that. What about the other two things?”

”The second thing is to complete the negotiation with Saintess Layla. They are our allies, so it will be good if you complete the negotiation first. Anna might be able to replace you, but this war is extremely important, right?”

”Sure. I will pay the Moon Temple a visit.”

”Last but not least, I need you to sign the treaty agreement first. It will be on blank paper, but we will use it to ensure that our people can be stretched wide.”

”Of course.” Noel accepted without hesitation.

”You are not afraid that I’m using this piece of blank document to trick you or something?” She shook her head helplessly.

”I won’t even make you my secretary if you are that type of person.” Noel smiled. ”You have taken care of me all this time, so please continue to take care of me.”

”Hmph. Glib tongue.” Rose harrumphed while crossing her arms. But the corners of her lips curved, reflecting the happiness in her heart.

Noel turned to Elaine. ”You may proceed as you see fit for the development of the territory. Right now, we have a deep enough foundation to withstand a strong wind.”

”Understood. As much as I want to say this, I guess there’s no reason to raise someone’s rank...”

”Why do you think so?”

Elaine raised one finger. ”If we raise their rank, they can form their own army, which will increase the overall number of our soldiers.”

Noel shook his head. ”While that is good, you forget about one thing. Our way of fighting is through the use of technology. The number of soldiers is good to make up the number, but the overwhelming power is what makes the difference.”

”I understand. In that case, I should get even more demon crystals and distribute them. Maybe we should hide some in other places so that the enemy won’t expect it.”

”That works as well. Just handle the alliance treaty to make it possible.” Noel nodded.

”Yes, sir. I will get it done.”

”While I am gone, the matter of this territory will be given to you two. I know that you are already tired with the current workload and my absence will increase it even further, but please persevere until the war comes. I believe it will come in a few months.

”Also, warn our allies about it. It will be better if there are some clues that this battle will be a much bigger one so that they will make ample preparation, especially the Atracaeca Kingdom. We might have to expand our scout to the west.”

”The west?” They were confused.

”The Atracaeca Kingdom is currently the weakest one, not only in strength but also in logistics. If we can force them to make even more preparations, they might still be able to preserve. We can’t afford the demons to hit us from the back.”

The two of them exchanged glances before politely bowing their heads.

”Then, I’m off.”
