System vs Rebirth

Chapter 1577: Relieved

”Haa... ha...” The Arctic Queen panted heavily. Just like the Phantom, she had finished her body reconstruction.

Melissa remained quiet while looking at her arms. Even without looking at her body, she could notice that some parts had changed. It looked like the body reconstruction was successful.

She took a deep breath to calm herself before lowering her head. ”Thank you for your grace, Sir.”

Noel waved his hand. ”It’s fine. How are you feeling? Does it not hurt at all?”

Melissa recalled her experience in her head before explaining, ”Not at all. The process itself is not painful. I can say that it’s very comfortable, no, it’s probably much more comfortable. I have to apologize for letting out such a vulgar sound.”

Noel waved his hand, treating it as not a big deal.

But Melissa fully understood how comfortable it was. Even though she had raised her guard, she couldn’t help it.

”Continue.” Noel asked, not wanting to make it a bigger deal. Besides, he wanted to see if his fire had changed in any way he wasn’t aware of. After all, he expected it to be painful.

”Yes.” Melissa paused for a few seconds. ”I expected it to be painful, but there is a big difference in the process. What you did before was expel that curse from us, stripping the demon influence from us. Meanwhile, what you were doing earlier was rearranging what we have.

”So, I believe this is the reason it feels so comfortable. However, I have to agree about asking the entire tribe to make a decision.

”This kind of reconstruction might change if there is one person who doesn’t have this kind of body structure.

”This whole time, we have a unique appearance, but our appearance is actually determined by our parents or even grandparents.

”For example, if the father has the body of a wolf, while the mother has the body of a human, the child will possess both or just one of them. Well, that example was actually my parents. As you can see, I inherited some of their parts.

”I usually wear clothes around my body because there is a lot of fur around there, which I inherited from my father. But now, it’s gone.” Melissa lifted up her shirt, showing her belly, which had become similar to her mother’s .

Noel crossed his arms. ”I see. It looks like the body reconstruction is indeed as you say.”

”Yes. If everyone has the same appearance, they won’t have to worry about their children becoming different. In other words, once the entire tribe has decided on one thing and made the change according to it, all the generations after them will remain the same.”

Melissa planned to discuss this finding. Some people might not care or even oppose it, but the majority of people would definitely agree. As for what would happen next, it was better to discuss it later with her tribe.

”I see.” Noel crossed his arms. ”Do you feel anything different from my flame as well?”

Melissa looked down, feeling a bit troubled.

”It’s fine. Tell me.” Noel nodded.

”I understand.” Melissa let out a sigh. ”Actually, I feel like the way you expelled the curse was quite forceful. It might be the source of the pain. On the other hand, the body reconstruction gave a rather gentle flame. The temperature was also lower.”

”Hmm. I guess this also means I have better control over my fire.” Noel nodded. ”That’s better then. Although I have expelled the curses on all of you and some kings, it’s quite painful for the children, so it’s rather awkward.”

”Indeed.” Melissa agreed. ”If the flame is this gentle, persuading the people will be much easier.”

”Anything else?”

”Hmm...” Melissa thought for a moment before raising one finger. ”I guess there is one more thing. From what I can see, you are wielding only your fire, but from what I have heard, you are planning to combine two spirit seals. Doesn’t sir mean you plan to combine your two elements? Will it change anything, especially the process?

”I’m sorry that it’s actually my doubt instead of my experience.”

”No. Your doubt is valid.” Noel waved his hand. If his flame had turned into an icy flame, would it change?

Noel’s control had grown a lot, so he couldn’t really say it wouldn’t change. Still, it might not be something to be worried about.

”My flame will combine with my ice. While it remains as a flame, I guess you can call it different. However, the ice will only affect its physical properties. The temperature is still controllable to a certain extent.

”Since I’m planning to combine the two spirit seals, it will be a fusion, so the property of my flame will still remain. I don’t think there will be any changes other than the color, at least for this process.”

”I see.” Melissa felt relieved. ”If that’s the case, there’s nothing I need to worry about. No matter how long you need me to guard here, I will watch over you, sir. There is no one who can enter this cave unless they step over my body, so please rest assured.”

”Alright. I will leave my protection to you, Melissa.” Noel nodded.

Melissa bowed first before walking outside. It was better for Noel not to be disturbed.

Once she was outside, Noel asked, ”How is it, Ardagan?”

[It should work, Master.]

”How about combining the spirit seal? Since it’s a mark that takes you years or decades to plant, won’t it be impossible to remove it?”

[There are three steps to do it. The Spirit Seal is like a bridge for our power to enter yours. In that case, you have to accumulate that power first and move it elsewhere.]

”Not the input but the output?”

[Yes. You move the two outputs and place them together side by side. Then, you will isolate those two outputs in a single place and fuse them properly. This will be the place where your new spirit seal is. Once the two have fused, you will then create a new seal and absorb both of our seals.]

”I see. This isolated space will also contain the concentration of spirit power, just like their tails, which is the place where I direct the rest of their power.”

[Yes.]

Noel nodded with a serious expression. Now that he had a clear path, he could start in earnest.
