Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 728: Chapter 771: Appeasing

After hanging up the phone, seeing that Mu Beiting’s face still didn’t look good, Ye Anxin slowly scooted over, wrapped her arms around Mu Beiting’s arm, squinted her eyes, and gave a sweet smile, trying to placate him, ”Uncle, I know you’re the best! You definitely won’t blame me, right? Besides, I’m doing this for your own good! Since we’ve invited Grandpa to join us for the New Year’s Eve dinner, we should speak nicely about it! It will help improve your relationship with your father!”

Even though Ye Anxin said this, Mu Beiting’s expression still showed no sign of improvement.

Just then, Xiao Bai came downstairs, saw Ye Anxin smiling ingratiatingly while Mu Beiting looked upset, and couldn’t help but curiously ask, ”Dad, what’s wrong with you? Did Mom make you angry?”

”Haha! No! Your dad isn’t that petty!” Ye Anxin didn’t wait for Mu Beiting to speak and immediately gave him a backhanded compliment, leaving him speechless with frustration!

At this point, Ye Anxin seemed to suddenly remember something and reminded, ”Oh, Xiao Bai, your grandpa will be coming over soon. Remember to be polite and make sure to greet him, okay?”

”Grandpa?” Hearing this term, Xiao Bai instinctively frowned, ”Where did this grandpa suddenly come from?”

”...!” Hearing this, Ye Anxin was slightly taken aback and glanced at Mu Beiting.

She knew that all these years, Uncle had always had issues with Grandpa and resisted everything related to the Mu Family, so it was normal to have never mentioned anyone from the Mu Family in front of Xiao Bai. Also, she left him soon after Xiao Bai was born, so she hadn’t had the chance to tell him about some people and things properly!

Thinking of this, Ye Anxin softly touched Xiao Bai’s head, pulled him to sit beside her, and patiently said, ”Xiao Bai, Grandpa is your dad’s dad! Because Grandpa has been living in a faraway old house, you never got the chance to meet him! But grandpa is a really nice person, very kind, he’s very nice to mom too, completely different from Mo Xuehong! When you meet him later, make sure to be polite, unlike how you are with Mo Xuehong, understand?”

Xiao Bai didn’t respond to Ye Anxin’s words but instead raised an eyebrow and nonchalantly asked, ”So, is Dad angry because he’s coming over later?”

”No! Dad is angry because of the things Mom said earlier! It has nothing to do with your grandpa!” With that, she reassured him again, ”Did you hear what I said earlier? Remember to greet him later and show respect to your grandpa, okay?”

Xiao Bai pouted, not very pleased but reluctantly nodding in agreement, ”Got it!”

”Great! Then you stay here with Dad and take a break while Mom goes to prepare the New Year’s Eve dinner for you!” Saying this, she stood up and prepared to head to the kitchen.

Xiao Bai quickly grabbed her hand, feeling sorry and said, ”Mom, your belly is so big, why do you still want to go to the kitchen? Let the servants do it!”

”No, this is a New Year’s Eve dinner, it only has meaning if I make it myself! Don’t worry! Mom knows her limits, I won’t tire myself out! If I get tired, I’ll come out and rest for a bit!” She said this and smiled at Mu Beiting before turning around and heading to the kitchen.

After Ye Anxin left, Mu Beiting grumpily picked up the newspaper on the table and buried himself in it.

Xiao Bai also picked up the newspaper from the table, the father and son sitting side by side on the sofa reading the newspaper! Although they didn’t say a word, the atmosphere was surprisingly good!

This was already their way of getting along, without unnecessary words or actions, just a mutual understanding between a father and a son, a telepathic connection!

Ye Anxin was busy in the kitchen all along, while Mu Beiting and Xiao Bai sat on the sofa outside reading the newspaper!

It wasn’t clear how long it had been when the butler came in from outside, stood beside Mu Beiting, and politely said, ”Sir, the old master has arrived! May I let him in?”

Because Mu Beiting had previously given orders that, except for family members, outsiders should not be allowed in at will, especially people from the Mu Family, who should be driven away without report!

So when the old master arrived, he didn’t dare open the door casually and had to report to the sir first!

Without lifting his head, Mu Beiting said, ”Let him in!”

”Yes, sir!” The butler took the order and turned to leave!

Soon, Mu Huajian walked in, leaning on a cane!

This was the first time in many years that he had stepped into this home! This was only when Mu Beiting first bought the place; other times, he basically couldn’t get in!

So everything in this house was unfamiliar to him!

However, what caught his attention the most was Xiao Bai sitting on the sofa with Mu Beiting!

For so many years, aside from sneaking glances at him from a distance, he had never looked at him so closely, let alone talk to him!

Looking at this little grandson, Mu Huajian’s eyes couldn’t help but redden, and he trembled as he walked up to him, his voice hoarse and choked as he called out, ”Xiao Bai!”

Xiao Bai looked up and saw this white-haired, wrinkled old man with reddened eyes. He calmly said, ”You’re the grandpa my mom mentioned?”

For the first time hearing Xiao Bai speaking, Mu Huajian was so excited he couldn’t say a word, just nodding vigorously.

”...!” Xiao Bai pouted, taking a long time before reluctantly squeezing out two words, ”Grandpa...!”

Hearing his little grandson call him grandpa, Mu Huajian was overwhelmed with excitement, his body trembling slightly, and the hand holding his cane was shaking badly, ”Good, good, good...! Such a good boy...! When Grandpa was coming earlier, he wanted to buy you some gifts! But all the stores were closed, everyone went home to celebrate the new year! So I couldn’t buy anything! Next time, next time Grandpa will definitely make it up to you, anything you like, just tell Grandpa, no matter what it is, Grandpa will get it for you!”

Xiao Bai immediately refused without hesitation, ”My dad has money, I can buy whatever I want!”

Mu Huajian quickly tried to appease, ”It’s Grandpa’s goodwill, the meaning is different!”

Hearing this, Xiao Bai continued with a straight face, ”No! The one who eats is soft-mouthed, the one who takes is short-handed, I don’t need anything from anyone!”

Hearing his words, Mu Huajian was slightly taken aback, his mouth opening to say something, but finding himself unsure of what to say!

At this time, Ye Anxin came out of the kitchen, seeing that Mu Huajian had already arrived, she quickly poured him a cup of tea and handed it over, smiling as she said, ”Old Master, you’re here! Please sit, I’m preparing the New Year’s Eve dinner with the servants, it will be ready soon, please be patient! If you feel bored, you can play chess with Xiao Bai, he’s really good at it!”

Mu Huajian took the tea from Ye Anxin and looked at Xiao Bai, pretending to be surprised, ”Xiao Bai, you know how to play chess? What kind of chess do you play?”
