Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 722: Chapter 765: Lost Contact

”Good morning, CEO!” Pete casually glanced over and greeted, but upon seeing Mu Beiting’s clothes, he was visibly stunned.

Seeing the look of astonishment on Pete’s face, Mu Beiting’s handsome face darkened even more!

”Ahem, CEO, sorry, that was rude of me just now!” Noticing Mu Beiting’s displeased expression, Pete cleared his throat and quickly apologized.

It really wasn’t his fault! It’s just that today’s CEO was indeed surprising to him!

After following the CEO for so many years, he’d never seen the CEO wear a down jacket in winter! Due to the CEO’s consistent exercise regimen, his body was always healthier than most. Come winter, when everyone else couldn’t bear the cold, the CEO only needed to wear two sweaters, his outerwear forever the same black suit!

That’s exactly why he was shocked to see the CEO in a down jacket!

Mu Beiting cast a cold glance at him, said nothing, and directly carried his briefcase into the CEO’s office.

Watching Mu Beiting, clearly unhappy yet still wearing the jacket, Pete guessed it had to be the doing of the CEO’s wife!

Only if the Mrs. spoke up, would the CEO change! Otherwise, no one could make the CEO do what he didn’t like!

Thinking this, Pete could only smile helplessly and shake his head. He went to the break room to make himself a hot milk before returning to his office to continue working.

Mu Beiting entered the CEO’s office, carefully hung his coat, then sat behind his desk to start his daily work.

However, every so often, Mu Beiting would raise his hand to glance at the watch on his wrist! Whenever the minute hand reached the top or bottom, he’d check his phone.

Each time the phone rang on the dot, he would smile faintly and quickly answer, ”Hello...!”

From the other end came Ye Anxin’s sweet voice, ”Hello, Uncle! You’re in the office now, right?”

Mu Beiting responded softly, ”Yeah.”

Ye Anxin meekly reported her whereabouts, ”I just left the house, I’m in the car, heading to meet Yueyue!”

Mu Beiting, with a calm expression, said, ”Be careful on the road, call me anytime if anything happens!”

Ye Anxin nodded, obediently, ”I know! Uncle, don’t worry about me, just focus on work! I’ll let you know when I’m back!”

”Okay,” Mu Beiting still responded lightly. Although he had no additional words, he wasn’t ready to hang up the call either.

Seeing Mu Beiting not prepared to hang up, Ye Anxin couldn’t help but laugh softly, ”Uncle, aren’t you busy?”

Mu Beiting replied with his lips barely moving, ”Not really!”

Ye Anxin spoke first, ”Then, Uncle, go ahead and work! I’ll hang up now!”

”Okay,” Mu Beiting still answered lightly, making no move.

”Bye, Uncle!” With that, Ye Anxin was the first to hang up!

She knew that every time they called, her uncle was reluctant to hang up, although he never spoke a lot, and it was mainly her talking! However, for her uncle, just listening to her seemed to be a kind of enjoyment!

But today, she had a lot to do, even though it felt a little cruel and unfair to Uncle, Ye Anxin steeled herself and hung up the call.

Only when the busy tone echoed through, did Mu Beiting place his phone on the desk and continue to bury himself in work.

Though Mu Beiting worked diligently, throughout the day most of his thoughts were on his phone! He had to hear Ye Anxin’s voice every half hour to feel at ease!

At first, it was fine, with Ye Anxin’s calls coming in right on time every half hour!

But by 4:30 PM, the phone on his desk had no response!

Mu Beiting stared at the phone for a full five minutes, still not receiving Ye Anxin’s call!

Seeing this, Mu Beiting furrowed his brow, picked up his phone, unlocked it, and checked the call log, but there were no records!

Gradually, a trace of worry and unease appeared on Mu Beiting’s face!

After waiting another ten minutes with no changes, Mu Beiting directly dialed Ye Anxin’s number!

The call went through, but no one answered!

Unwilling to give up, Mu Beiting dialed again! Still, no response!

After repeating this several times, Mu Beiting had called no less than dozens of times, yet each time it went through, no one picked up!

As time went on, Mu Beiting started getting restless! The veins on the hand holding the phone faintly bulged.

Mu Beiting glanced at the time on his wristwatch, 5 PM sharp! Ye Anxin still hadn’t called!

It had been a whole hour now, and Mu Beiting’s heart was growing more agitated and uneasy!

When Ye Anxin didn’t answer, Mu Beiting dialed another number!

The call was quickly answered after ringing twice, and a deep voice came through, ”Hello!”

Mu Beiting didn’t waste time, getting straight to the point, ”Give me your wife Ling Yueyue’s phone number!”

Huo Junmo frowned, confused, and asked, ”What do you need her number for?”

Mu Beiting didn’t answer, impatiently urging, ”Hurry!”

On the other end, Huo Junmo stayed silent for a moment, then recited a series of digits to Mu Beiting!

Once the number was given, Mu Beiting hung up without saying a word, then dialed the number Huo Junmo just provided!

The call was answered almost immediately, and Ling Yueyue’s cheerful voice came through, ”Hello, who is this?”

Mu Beiting coldly stated, ”Let Anxin take the call!”

Ling Yueyue was slightly taken aback, ”Mu Beiting? How did you get my number?”

Mu Beiting, holding onto his patience, repeated, ”Let Anxin take the call!”

Ling Yueyue responded, ”Anxin isn’t with me! Why don’t you call her? Why are you calling me?”

Upon hearing this, Mu Beiting’s brows tightly knotted, ”Didn’t Anxin say she was out shopping with you today?”

Ling Yueyue, puzzled, said, ”Yes, we were shopping together! But we separated to go home around 4:30! At the time, Anxin and I were waiting at the mall entrance for our drivers to pick us up, my driver came first, and I left first! Didn’t Anxin go home?”

Mu Beiting calmly asked, ”Where did you part ways?”

Ling Yueyue answered without hesitation, ”In front of Blue Sky Building!”

”Damn it!” Mu Beiting cursed under his breath, hanging up and then dialing another phone number.

Just like with Ye Anxin’s number, it connected but went unanswered!
