The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

But they didn’t expect that these two people remembered Anning saying the funds were insufficient.

The next day, Xiao Yuan went out early carrying money.

Anning also took some money, saying she would take Pei Yu and An Yi to check out the wholesale markets and see the trends.

So, the three of them went out for the day, figured out the prices at various markets, and learned which stall offered good quality items at low prices, only then did they buy some goods.

The three women were quite bold, bought the goods, and hopped on a bus to other places. They only returned to Dream City after selling off all they had bought, rented a place, and went to get more stock.

By that time, Xiao Yuan had already made a roundtrip in the stock market.

Anning and the others came back, and Xiao Yuan came over to tell Anning how much money he had made.

”The stock market is pretty good now, plus that speech from the big leader...”

Pei Yu and An Yi overheard Xiao Yuan’s words.

By evening, Pei Yu called An Yi out, and no one knew what they whispered to each other. The next day, when Anning said she was going to buy more goods, Pei Yu and An Yi said they were not going because they hadn’t had a good day out in Dream City and wanted to play for a day.

As they said this, Anning did not insist.

She went to buy goods herself, and then took the goods to sell in other places.

Anning was gone for several days.

With Anning away, it was just Pei Yu and An Yi in the rented apartment, knowing full well Xiao Yuan wouldn’t return, having been in Dream City for only a few days yet having understood many things and met some people, he could manage a few nights wherever.

Neither of them expected that in just a few days, Pei Yu and An Yi had truly pulled off a big event.

When Anning finished selling the goods and came back, Xiao Yuan was back too.

As soon as he entered, Pei Yu called out to him: ”Here, take it.”

Xiao Yuan was dumbfounded looking at the thick wad of cash handed to him.

Anning became a bit anxious: ”Aunt, where did you get the money?”

An Yi pulled Anning aside: ”Don’t ask where it came from, use this money for Yuanzi to invest, I can see he’s on a lucky streak now, whatever he invests in, he earns, he earns much more than you do selling goods, invest this money in stocks and in no time it will double. Then we can settle down here in Dream City.”

Xiao Yuan was undecided whether to take the money or not.

After a while, he said: ”I guess this is Third Aunt and Little Aunt’s investment, I’ll manage it; when we earn money, I’ll take a commission.”

”It’s yours now, no commission needed, just pay us back the principal after you make money.”

An Yi waved her hand: ”Don’t be polite with us, we’re all family, what’s there to be polite about.”

Anning chased after her into the room: ”Third Aunt, tell me properly, where did you get this money?”

Pei Yu followed her inside.

She locked the door and then quietly pulled Anning aside: ”Don’t shout, if Yuanzi hears this he might... form an opinion about you, what then?”

Anning knew the money didn’t come from a legitimate source.

”How did you get it exactly?” Her face turned stern immediately: ”Did you two do something illegal?”

Pei Yu became a bit anxious, and An Yi quietly shared the story with Anning.

As it turned out, upon seeing Xiao Yuan earning money from the stock market, making so much, they got tempted.

Over the years, the Pei Family was criticized behind their backs, both An Yi and Pei Yu had tarnished reputations, and they knew it well.

Pei Yu was holding in a breath of pent-up anger.

An Yi had actually made up her mind, she planned to find a well-off man in the county, figure out how to mesmerize him to marry her, then use his family’s influence to bolster her own, knowing well this era laughs at poverty, not at whoring. Once her life got better, the family got stable, the villagers wouldn’t dare mock the family anymore.

These two women had a heap of resentment inside, but they’d never been out, always stuck in the countryside; no matter how scheming, how crafty, their worldview and experience weren’t there, what kind of man could they find?

This time, Anning brought them to Dream City, made them see the city’s splendor, and kept telling them this and that, it’s like she opened another world’s door for them, their horizons expanded greatly.

Moreover, after visiting the wholesale market and selling goods once, their ambition was truly inflamed.

They realized that Xiao Yuan was quite capable.

Just arriving in Dream City, he found safe and reliable accommodation, could get solid information by inquiring, and quickly saw through all the channels everywhere, Anning’s partner was certainly capable, and more importantly, Xiao Yuan could make money in the stock market, but was limited by a lack of capital, so no matter how much he earned, it wasn’t much.

These two women started brainstorming.

They secretly conspired, having no other skills except getting men, with plenty of wealthy folks in Dream City, getting money wasn’t that hard for them.

So, while Anning went to buy goods and sell them, these two dared to set a trap and really got some money.

An Yi and Pei Yu found their approach, staking out in those commercial areas for two days, spotting a rich businessman from Mingzhu.

Such external businessmen didn’t stay long in Dream City, and since they had plenty of money, weren’t they just fat sheep waiting?

The two women targeted him.

Then An Yi pretended to be a na?ve university student in distress, coincidentally encountered that businessman.

That businessman wasn’t decent, he had a strong lust, seeing An Yi’s beauty, combined with An Yi really wanting to seduce someone, her methods were effective, within two days, she had the businessman so infatuated.

Afterwards, the two ended up together, and Pei Yu, pretending otherwise, caught them red-handed, seizing the chance to extort the businessman.

The businessman didn’t get anything but lost a significant sum, though quite angry, he feared Pei Yu might call the police, so he could only pay to avoid disaster.

Essentially, this aunt-niece duo pulled off a cheat to trap someone.

Hearing An Yi finish the story, Anning was furious.

She immediately kicked the chair aside and yanked An Yi, pointing at her forehead reprimanding: ”You two are incredibly bold, are you familiar with the folks here? You dare trick strangers. What if the person has power and connections? Did you consider the consequences? We’ve just arrived, how dare you...”

An Yi saw Anning was truly angry, timidly said: ”The money’s already come, what do you say we do? I’m telling you, the money can’t be returned, or we did this for nothing.”

Anning fumed but couldn’t ignore this matter: ”What’s the person’s name, what does he look like?”
