The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Anning really didn’t know what to say.

After a long pause, she finally said, ”Are you my mom or A Yuan’s mom.”

Ms. Xu gave Anning a pat: ”The kid’s having a hard time. If you bully him again, how’s he supposed to live?”

Anning sighed helplessly: ”Okay, okay, I get it. I’ll be nice to him and won’t bully him. You’re at ease now, right, Mom? Have you mixed us up? I’m the girl, he’s the boy...”

Ms. Xu widened her eyes: ”In today’s society, what difference does gender make? Just because you’re a girl you can’t bully others? You’ve been assertive since you were a child, and you’re older than Xiao Yuan, so I have to keep an eye on you.”

Anning had to promise several times before she could see Ms. Xu off.

As soon as Ms. Xu was out the door, Xiao Yuan slipped in quietly.

He headed straight for Anning’s bed, lay down, and patted the empty space beside him: ”Come over here, let’s sleep.”

Anning huffed: ”I really should let Ms. Xu see who’s bullying who.”

The night passed without a word, and early the next morning, Feng Na and Ning Ruoxi came together to pick them up.

Feng Na came to pick up Anning, Ning Ruoxi came to pick up Xiao Yuan.

Before leaving, Ms. Xu pulled Xiao Yuan aside to give him a lot of advice, even handed him a card: ”Don’t let yourself be frustrated when you get to the production set. Buy whatever you like, we don’t lack money at home.”

Xiao Yuan felt a bit amused and grateful, and since Ms. Xu was genuinely kind to him, he couldn’t resist saying, ”Thanks Mom, I won’t let myself be wronged.”

Ms. Xu beamed with delight: ”Good, good, I only have Ningning, and now one more calls me Mom, it makes me happy. Good child, from now on when you come back, treat this as your home, I’ll treat you like my own child.”

Anning tugged at Xiao Yuan: ”Mom, we’re leaving now.”

”Off you go.”

Ms. Xu waved her hand: ”I have an appointment with Mrs. Wang to visit the welfare center, won’t be free for the next few days. If you want to come back, it’ll have to be in a few days.”

Anning and Xiao Yuan got into the car, Anning said to Feng Na: ”First, take A Yuan and Ruoxi to the production set.”

She was concerned, especially arranging for Feng Na to go stabilize the scene for Xiao Yuan.

Feng Na understood and drove to the production set.

Anning stayed in the car, didn’t get out, while Feng Na took Xiao Yuan and Ning Ruoxi to find Yu Yi and entrusted Xiao Yuan to Yu Yi, then returned to the company with Anning.

Nowadays, Anning doesn’t manage affairs at Mrs. Rong’s company much; she mainly oversees things at the Yun Family.

Since Rong Junhao has already woken up, and Anning knows he’s not simple, naturally she won’t exhaust herself managing the company for him, even if Rong Junhao can’t walk now, he’s not stupid, surely has his own people installed in the company, even if controlled remotely, he wouldn’t let the company falter.

However, Anning doesn’t want to handle Mrs. Rong’s affairs, but Rong Junhao doesn’t want Anning to detach from him.

Just as Anning entered the Yun Family, Rong Junhao called.

”Ningning.” His tone was tender; without the context, one might think he treated Anning very well: ”You haven’t visited Mrs. Rong these days?”

Anning chuckled: ”You’ve woken up, why should I go? If I keep visiting, some might think I want to take over Mrs. Rong. Honestly, I don’t care, I can hardly manage my own company. Why bother exerting effort just to be unappreciated?”

Rong Junhao was stunned; after a while, he said: ”Ningning, could you not be so heartless?”

Anning spoke while entering the elevator: ”Rong Junhao, who’s really being heartless here?”

Rong Junhao wanted to say more, but Anning hung up.

When she entered the office, Rong Junhao called again: ”Ningning, does the bond we had growing up together mean nothing to you? You said you’d protect me as a child and even that you’d marry me; we’d be together for life.”

Anning sat down, motioned to Feng Na for her schedule, and, while reviewing it carelessly, said, ”Young Master Rong, you’ve hurt me once. This time, I beg of you, spare me this little life, alright? Considering I fought for you, stood up for you since childhood, managed Mrs. Rong this past year so it didn’t collapse, please let me go.”

Rong Junhao sat on the bed, holding the phone, speechless.

Many memories flooded his mind.

As a child, his life wasn’t good; Mr. Rong was a workaholic, focused solely on career, rarely home. Ms. Li was always out, meeting people for shopping, traveling, beauty treatments, attending auctions. When Rong Junhao was young, he was often left with the nanny.

At first, the nanny employed at the Rong Family harbored malicious intentions, even plotted to kidnap Rong Junhao with others, which caused him some suffering.

Since then, he’d always been very timid.

When he was in kindergarten and elementary school, Rong Junhao was very thin and small, and he didn’t like to talk, so he was often bullied.

At that time, it was always Anning who jumped out to protect him.

When Anning was young, she was taller than most children, and she was lively, jumping around all day. She was also good at fighting. It can be said that during Rong Junhao’s kindergarten and elementary school years, Anning fought countless battles with other kids to protect him.

It was also because of Anning’s protection and encouragement that his courage slowly grew, and he gradually stopped being so timid and self-abased.

When he was young, he didn’t like studying, but Anning was a top student.

In order to follow in Anning’s footsteps, he started to study hard. He wanted to always be in the same school and the same class as Anning.

Rong Junhao now thinks about how hard he worked back then and what kind of feelings he had. He gave himself a harsh slap.

How could he have been so foolish? In that life, he actually put all those bonds aside, and for a worthless woman, he indirectly caused Anning’s death, the one who always protected him and cared for him.

”Ningning.” He said gently, ”From childhood to now, I have kept everything you gave me well. I... was only momentarily confused. I never wanted you to die. I know I was wrong. I really made a mistake, Ningning. Can you give me another chance? I promise I will treat you well. This time, whatever you want, I’ll give it to you, okay?”

Anning felt so disgusted she wanted to vomit: ”You reminded me. The things you gave me, I still have them. It seems it’s time to clear them out.”

Rong Junhao’s heart tightened, filled with fear and pain: ”No, don’t throw them away, I beg you...”

Anning hung up the phone with a snap: ”What nonsense.”

Rong Junhao wanted to say something more, but Anning had already hung up the phone. When he called again, he found he had been blocked.

Rong Junhao slapped his bed and shouted, ”Someone, come here.”

Assistant Liu hurriedly came in.

Rong Junhao said loudly, ”Prepare a car for me, I need to go to the old residence of the Yun family.”

Assistant Liu quickly went to prepare. After about four or five minutes, a male nurse came in to help Rong Junhao into a wheelchair. Assistant Liu pushed him to the garage. Once he was in the car, Rong Junhao said again, ”Go grab some gifts.”

Assistant Liu immediately went to find Ms. Li, who prepared some gifts. After everything was ready, Rong Junhao urged them to hurry to the Yun family.

When they arrived at the Yun family, Ms. Xu had already gone out.

Rong Junhao called Ms. Xu: ”Auntie, it’s Junhao, um, I’m much better now. I’m at your door, where are you?”

Ms. Xu really didn’t know how to face Rong Junhao.

While Rong Junhao was still unconscious, Anning had already broken off the engagement with him, and now Anning had a girlfriend. This made Ms. Xu feel a bit guilty towards Rong Junhao: ”Oh, Junhao, I’m at the welfare home now. Kid, you should have said something earlier if you wanted to come over... I can’t go back right now, but it’s nothing, it’s nothing. Our families have had bonds for many years. When your family is in trouble, isn’t it right for Ningning to help? How about you go back for now, and I’ll call you when I get home. Is that alright?”

Rong Junhao could only say, ”Alright, I’ll head back first. Auntie, I’ll visit again when you have time.”

That’s what he said, but he didn’t do it.

He had Assistant Liu find a place nearby for him to rest and stationed someone to watch the Yun family entrance.

By evening, Rong Junhao saw Anning driving back to the old residence. His heart suddenly raced.

He knew why Anning was back.

Without revealing himself, Rong Junhao had people push him to a hidden spot opposite the Yun family to wait.

After more than twenty minutes, Rong Junhao saw Anning come out of the house with a particularly large paper box.

She walked a bit further, found a trash can, and dumped everything from the box into it. Then she stomped the box flat and threw it in too.

Anning patted her hands by the trash can, a smile appearing on her face: ”Finally clean.”

She turned around and happily walked back home.

Not long after Anning left, Rong Junhao had someone push him next to the trash can.

At that moment, a garbage truck was passing by, and a worker was about to empty the trash can into the truck. Rong Junhao’s eyes turned red, and he crazily blocked the trash can, pushing the worker aside: ”Get lost.”

Assistant Liu stood awkwardly to the side. He apologized profusely to the worker: ”We have some very important things that were thrown here. Could you collect the others first and come back for these later? I’m really sorry.”

Assistant Liu even gave the worker some money.

The worker saw how anxious Rong Junhao looked, dressed so well, looking clean, yet not hesitating to sort through the trash. He couldn’t help but shake his head: ”If it’s important, why didn’t you take care of it? Honestly.”
