The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Just when Xiao Yuan saw the popularity surge, with various contracts and advertisements flying his way, he specifically started a live stream.

At this time, there were still a lot of fans in Xiao Yuan’s live streaming room.

He had previously answered so many questions, attracting fans of all ages and professions to his live stream.

Every day, people would find difficult questions to ask Xiao Yuan, laughing and jokingly betting on when they could stump him.

But today was different.

Today, Xiao Yuan specifically changed into formal attire for the live stream.

His hair was nicely groomed, wearing a shirt and a suit, looking so handsome it was almost criminal.

Many female fans started screaming nonstop as soon as they entered.

Xiao Yuan didn’t smile; his expression was particularly serious.

”Today might be the last live stream.”

This sentence made fans start shouting: ”You can’t say that, you must keep the live room open, checking your stream has become a necessary part of our daily life. What will we do if you close it?”

”Host, did you encounter something?”

”Who is making things difficult for you? Who is it? I’m already on my way with a forty-meter knife.”

”Reward, let’s start a wave of rewards, the host must continue the stream.”

Xiao Yuan became even more serious: ”It’s not that I want to shut down the live stream, but today I have to confess something, and maybe after I confess, I might go to jail.”

This sentence made everyone realize the seriousness of the matter.

Naturally, there were fans in the live stream whose relatives were policemen.

These people quickly called and messaged their relatives, urging them to log in immediately.

Soon, a lot more people squeezed into the live room.

Xiao Yuan lowered his eyes, trying to cover the sadness that was about to overflow: ”My real name is Xiao Yuan...”

He introduced his name, birth date, home address, parents, and relatives.

”My brother Xiao Nian and I are twins, and we look almost identical. Since childhood, except for parents and close relatives, almost no one could tell us apart. Therefore, during the middle school entrance exam...”

Xiao Yuan candidly shared the past years’ events in the live stream; he talked about how he got into a prestigious high school during the middle school entrance exam but was forced by his parents to swap names with his brother Xiao Nian, going to a vocational school while letting his brother attend the good school.

By this point, the fans started sympathizing with Xiao Yuan, with some even wanting to cry.

”My poor little guy, what kind of parents are these? So unfair.”

”The brother is too much as well, it’s really hateful.”

Xiao Yuan looked up, with some shock in his eyes: ”I studied in a vocational high school for three years; because of serious studying, coupled with a solid foundation from middle school, my grades never dropped much. During the college entrance exam, I got into Dongzhou University, while Xiao Nian only got into a third-rate institute. When he got sick at that time, my parents forced me again to let him have my place at university. The only relief was that I could be called Xiao Yuan again instead of Xiao Nian. I am telling the truth; I know what I did was wrong, and all along, I dared not mention it, only today I couldn’t withstand my own guilt anymore, so I decided to reveal both things. It’s my responsibility, I’ll take it on, no matter what criticism or punishment I’ll receive, I accept it.”

At that moment, he showed great responsibility and appeared very sincere: ”I thought I would be blamed and cursed, but I didn’t expect... everyone didn’t scold me, I was very shocked, and I am very grateful.”

Xiao Yuan said this, with tears faintly glistening in his eyes.

He tried to smile but found he couldn’t: ”Really sorry, I failed your love.”

”No, this is not your fault.”

”Dear, don’t cry, mom feels distressed.”

”Sister gives hugs, don’t cry, we don’t blame you.”

And at this moment, the Xiao Family, who were gearing up to expose Xiao Yuan for allegedly ignoring his family after becoming a celebrity and treating his parents poorly and being cruel to his brother, were completely dumbfounded.

They had prepared thoroughly, planning to take a big shot after learning of Xiao Yuan’s fame, thinking to suppress Xiao Yuan with public opinion and make him obediently become the Xiao Family’s money tree.

However, just as they were contacting the media for an exposé, someone whispered a few words to the interviewing reporter, whose gaze towards the Xiao Family suddenly changed.

”Can you guarantee what you said is true?”

The reporter asked.

Xiao Nian immediately nodded: ”What we’ve said is all true.”

The reporter sneered: ”I suggest you think carefully and tell the truth. Xiao Yuan just hosted a live stream and revealed everything from back then: how you forced him to attend vocational school despite being the top scorer, how Xiao Nian replaced him, and how it went during the college entrance exam. Xiao Yuan confessed it all.”

This one sentence changed the Xiao Family’s expressions instantly.

The reporter, not being fooled easily, understood everything upon seeing the Xiao Family’s expressions.

He immediately packed up and prepared to leave.

Mother Xiao grabbed the reporter: ”You can’t leave, you haven’t interviewed us yet.”

The reporter sneered and shook off Mother Xiao: ”Fine, interview, then let me ask, with both sons being the same, why did you favor one over the other, why force Xiao Yuan and Xiao Nian to swap identities back then?”

Mr. Xiao was momentarily flustered and then feigned outrage: ”What? I don’t understand what’s happening here. Clearly, it’s Xiao Nian who did something disgraceful. Why... the one in the live stream isn’t Xiao Yuan; he’s actually Xiao Nian. During the middle school entrance exam, he saw his brother scored well, so he insisted on swapping schools with him. We were confused back then, thinking Xiao Yuan learned well anywhere, while Xiao Nian’s poor grades might improve in a good school. Unexpectedly, he did poorly even in a good high school. He got jealous of Xiao Yuan and wanted to switch again, but this time we didn’t let him go, so... he left home in a fit, and now he’s famous, he just splashes mud on us like this, really...”

Mr. Xiao showed a puzzling expression.

This made the reporter laugh even more: ”Do you really think I’m stupid, or you think the whole nation is stupid? You say the one in the live stream is Xiao Nian? Do you have evidence? If what you say is true, that the one with poor grades is Xiao Nian, yet the one in the live stream can solve any difficult question regardless of whether it’s high school or university-level math and physics problems, which even some graduate students don’t understand, he does. Is this the poor grades you’re talking about? Then...”

The reporter pointed to Xiao Nian: ”This guy with good grades must be extraordinary. Fine, now is the time to prove it; I’ll give a question, let him solve it on the spot.”

Xiao Nian was embarrassed, also anxious and scared: ”Oh, I have a headache, I’m feeling unwell, I...”
