The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Anning talked to Xiao Yuan about making a short video website and live streaming during dinner.

”Previously, Mrs. Yun also intended to make phones, but some technical issues have been hindering progress. Recently, I visited the lab a few times and solved many problems. I’m planning to try making a smartphone, test the waters, and I’ve also had An Xin send some advanced communication technology materials to the state. I estimate that soon there will be significant development in network information technology. By then, we can watch videos and do live streaming on phones, and accomplish many things. I’d like to ride this wave and greatly boost the assets of Mrs. Yun.”

Xiao Yuan has done this over several lifetimes, so he chimed in with some opinions when Anning mentioned network technology.

Anning then asked him, ”How about I set up a short video website for you?”

”Sure.” Xiao Yuan thought of something and laughed, ”Let’s first build a live streaming website. I’ll think of ways to find some internet celebrities to do live streams, and I want to start live streaming too.”

”Are you planning to do educational live streams?”

Anning understood Xiao Yuan’s intentions; he’s already starting to prepare for the future exposure of his stolen academic achievements.

”No.” Xiao Yuan shook his head, ”Specifically, it’s going to be quiz-type live streaming.”

Anning’s eyes lit up, ”That’s a good idea. You can set up a live stream room to help people solve various difficult problems. The name of the live stream room can be ’Self-reliant’... or ’All-knowing.’

Xiao Yuan nodded, ”That’s exactly what I was thinking.”

”That’s great.” Anning clapped happily, ”Let’s do it. I’ll go and acquire a website right away, and we’ll get started soon.”

She’s a straightforward person; as soon as she mentioned acquiring a website, she couldn’t wait any longer and dragged Xiao Yuan outside.

The two of them returned to Mrs. Yun, and Anning had Xiao Yuan work on the website plan while she called over Feng Na and Vice President Xue.

”Secretary Feng, please check with Vice President Xue to see if there are any suitable video websites for acquisition. If there are, acquire them quickly. I need you to acquire and integrate a video website in the shortest time possible.”

Feng Na looked at Vice President Xue.

Vice President Xue asked Anning, ”Mr. Yun, we are an appliance company, why acquire a website? It doesn’t align with our company’s interests, and also...”

Anning interrupted Vice President Xue, ”Because our company needs to change its operating model, we need channels for expression. Additionally, A Yuan needs a website.”

She pointed to Xiao Yuan, ”After acquiring the website, it will be handed over to A Yuan to manage. I believe he will do a great job.”

Vice President Xue looked at Anning disapprovingly, ”Mr. Yun, I hope you reconsider this.”

Anning waved her hand, ”I’ve considered it thoroughly. If you all are unwilling, I can use my own funds for the acquisition. But afterwards, how this website develops will have nothing to do with Mrs. Yun.”

Vice President Xue frowned, waited a while before sighing, ”Alright, I’ll get it done quickly.”

After leaving the office, Vice President Xue was still speaking to Feng Na, ”Mr. Yun has been blinded by beauty, like that kind of foolish king who gives up the kingdom for a beauty.”

Feng Na couldn’t help but laugh, ”It’s not that serious. Mr. Yun is a rational person and won’t act impulsively. She’s surely doing this for her own reasons. Besides, consider that any decision Mr. Yun has made, be it for Mrs. Yun or Mrs. Rong, has it ever failed?”

Vice President Xue thought for a moment, ”That’s true too, alright, we’ll wait and see.”

After those two left, Xiao Yuan looked up at Anning, ”They definitely think you became a foolish king for me.”

”Are you happy?”

Anning asked Xiao Yuan while reviewing documents.

”I am happy.” Xiao Yuan continued writing his plan, ”I’m planning to visit the countryside in a few days.”

”Alright.” Anning agreed without lifting her head.

So, by the time Mr. Xiao and Mother Xiao came to Mrs. Yun’s side to try to wait patiently for Xiao Yuan, Xiao Yuan had already gone to the countryside to Grandpa Xiao.

Mr. Xiao just drove to the vicinity of Mrs. Yun’s entrance, and Grandpa Xiao called him, ”Rascal, hurry back to the hometown.”

Mr. Xiao was confused, ”Dad, what’s so urgent that you need me back there? I have urgent matters here.”

”What’s more pressing? Is anything more important than your father and son? Yuan Yuan is back, and he told me about the heartless things you both did.”

Grandpa Xiao was almost furious to death, thinking of the biased things Mr. Xiao did made him want to hit someone.

Mr. Xiao was shocked, ”What did he say?”

Grandpa Xiao said angrily, ”He said everything. Hurry back and explain it to me properly.”

Mr. Xiao immediately abandoned the idea of waiting patiently and hurriedly drove back to the hometown.

Xiao Yuan was sitting in the courtyard of the hometown, looking at a persimmon tree not far away.

The persimmons had ripened, looking like small, red lanterns from afar, quite adorable.

”What? Want some?”

Grandpa Xiao came over with a big bowl of beef noodles and handed it to Xiao Yuan, ”Your Grandma made the noodles, eat up.”

Xiao Yuan smiled as he received it.

Grandpa Xiao slapped him on the back, ”What were you thinking? Your parents did such heartless things, you should have told me. Watch me beat him to death. You... how did you endure, and not just once but twice? Even if your dad said he wouldn’t support your education, you still have me and your Grandma. If he won’t support you, we will. We can’t let him ruin you.”

Xiao Yuan buried himself in eating the noodles, swallowed a large piece of beef and looked up to Grandpa Xiao, ”Do you have money? My mom said you’re poor and have a hard time feeding yourselves, so how would you have money to support my education.”

”That wasteful woman.” Grandpa Xiao cursed angrily, ”Who said we can’t afford to eat? She still thinks it’s more than a decade ago. Nowadays, life in the countryside is pretty decent too. Your uncle’s family has built a new house and bought a car. Your Grandma and my health is still going strong; we haven’t been living idly. We’ve been working all the time, raising sheep, pigs. Your Grandma has got no other skills but she’s an expert at pig farming, her pigs grow well and don’t easily get sick. Last year, the two of us raised several dozen pigs, sold them for a nice sum.”

”That’s quite a profit.” Xiao Yuan thought of last year’s pork prices. Smiling, he said, ”Grandpa, why don’t you forget about my dad? I’ll stay with you and you can treat me as your youngest son. I’ll take care of you in your old age, and you leave your inheritance to me, how about it?”

The comment made Grandpa Xiao laugh and cry at the same time, ”Good kid, already eyeing your Grandpa’s inheritance... fine then, your uncle’s family has a daughter. We’re definitely not leaving the old house to her. You and Xiao Nian... Xiao Nian isn’t too reliable. Forget it, let’s give it to you.”

”Okay, I guess I’ve got a little property now.” Xiao Yuan was quite pleased, ”So it’s settled then. When you have time, make a will or something. By the way, don’t forget to get it notarized, otherwise my dad will definitely try to shift everything to Xiao Nian, and I won’t get a piece.”

The old man got angry and slapped him again, ”Eat your meal! Your Grandpa’s not senile yet.”

After Xiao Yuan finished eating, Grandpa Xiao asked him, ”What are your thoughts? Do you want to seek justice or what?”

Xiao Yuan shook his head, ”I don’t want things to get too ugly. I don’t want to necessarily do anything about it, but seeing my parents and Xiao Nian being relentless, I figure it’s bound to blow up sooner or later. I just hope Grandpa helps me stall a bit until I’m ready for it.”

Grandpa Xiao thought for a moment, ”Alright, but let’s be clear, if I offend your dad for you, you’ll have to take care of me and your Grandma in the future.”

”Haven’t we agreed on this already?” Xiao Yuan blinked, ”Your property goes to me, and I take care of you.”

”Good kid, waiting for me here.” Grandpa Xiao chuckled and cursed, feeling that this grandson’s current personality was more to his taste. Previously, the kid was too introverted and rigid in action. He preferred this more lively and likable version.
