The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Xiao Yuan bought a lot of things and drove them to the old house of the Yun Family.

Ms. Xu watched him moving things back and forth, quite curious.

”What did you buy?”

Xiao Yuan carried a box and said while walking: ”These are all equipment for livestreaming. Didn’t Ningning just acquire a video website? I want to start a livestream channel to boost some popularity, so I just bought this equipment.”

He placed the items in an empty room: ”Auntie, it’s quiet here, you don’t mind me coming over to livestream, right?”

Ms. Xu was quite happy to hear that: ”Mind? Why would I mind? It’s just me at home, and sometimes it feels too quiet. I’d be thrilled if you come over to keep me company.”

Actually, Ms. Xu was quite lonely.

Anning was busy with work, not necessarily coming back even once in ten days or half a month, and she often found herself dazing off alone at home.

To avoid falling into such a lonely life, she also found things to do on her own, like arranging outings with friends, playing cards together, and doing charity work together.

But after the hustle and bustle, coming back home still felt too quiet.

Now that Xiao Yuan was coming over to livestream, she genuinely welcomed it; at least with Xiao Yuan around, there could be some liveliness here.

”How are you going to set this up?”

Ms. Xu followed Xiao Yuan, watching him unpack boxes and set up computers and other equipment: ”Can you set it up? Maybe I should find someone to help you?”

Xiao Yuan smiled and waved his hand: ”No need to trouble others, I can set it up myself.”

He worked swiftly, and before long had set up the equipment, then started adjusting and testing it.

Ms. Xu found it quite interesting: ”How do you play this? Can I come over to watch when you livestream?”

”Of course.” Xiao Yuan let Ms. Xu sit in front of the computer and began to teach her how to livestream, how to use the equipment, and so on.

Ms. Xu was quite happy to learn: ”So that’s how it is, I find it pretty fun. By the way, what’s the name of your livestream channel? When will you start streaming?”

Xiao Yuan discussed with Ms. Xu: ”Do you think I should call it ’All-knowing’ or ’Self-reliant’?”

Uh?

What does that mean?

Xiao Yuan explained: ”I want to livestream solving difficult problems. No one is doing this kind of stream online. If I do well, it might become popular.”

He pointed to his face: ”Plus, I’m so handsome, I might attract a lot of fans even if I do nothing.”

Ms. Xu burst out laughing: ”You really have a thick skin.”

”Of course.” Xiao Yuan was quite proud: ”Without thick skin, how could I catch up with Ningning?”

”Alright, you play by yourself, I’ll go cook for you.”

Ms. Xu smirked: ”What do you want to eat for lunch?”

”It’s just the two of us, we’ll just eat something simple.” Xiao Yuan was registering the livestream channel, speaking without turning his head.

”Make a couple of dishes and cook some noodles, alright?” Ms. Xu watched him register the livestream channel and gave a suggestion: ”You should change your clothes before you stream, let’s make it look clean and nice.”

”Okay.” Xiao Yuan smiled and replied: ”You decide, I’m not a picky eater.”

Ms. Xu turned to the kitchen, feeling quite pleased, especially when Xiao Yuan referred to the two of them as a pair, which she found delightful.

Honestly, Rong Junhao was someone Ms. Xu saw growing up, so they should be close, right? But Ms. Xu always felt there was a barrier between them, and being with him wasn’t that relaxed.

But with Xiao Yuan, whom she just met a few days ago, she got along really well, feeling like they’ve known each other for many years, almost like family, feeling very comfortable.

Ms. Xu shook her head, opened the fridge to see what ingredients were inside, and started planning what dishes to cook.

Xiao Yuan was quite obedient; he changed his clothes and then started the livestream.

Anning knew Xiao Yuan was going to livestream today.

When the time came, she opened another computer, logged into the livestream channel Xiao Yuan just registered, and watched him stream.

At the beginning, there were only a handful of viewers in Xiao Yuan’s channel.

After all, he was a newcomer, had no popularity, and nobody knew him, so naturally, no one paid attention.

Anning thought this wouldn’t do, so she made a few phone calls.

She called some of her friends and some business acquaintances, asking them to help promote Xiao Yuan’s livestream channel.

Additionally, Anning asked An Xin to get Xiao Yuan a trending topic, not a top one, but something that got him into the top 20-30 trending list, which still caught some attention.

Xiao Yuan’s livestream channel was named ”All-knowing,” described as solving doubts and difficulties, anyone could ask questions, and he’d help answer, especially with academic problems.

Initially, there were few people in the livestream channel, those who came in just stared at Xiao Yuan’s face, fawning over it without asking questions.

After An Xin helped get it trending, newcomers started asking questions.

The first person to ask a question was Mr. Li’s son.

Mr. Li was a burly man who handled things roughly, but was generally nice. He hadn’t had much education himself, having risen to wealth during the reform boom, so he wanted an educated person in the family, being very strict with his son Li Wenshu, who performed well academically from elementary school through high school.

Li Wenshu was now in his first year of high school, aiming to join the competition class in his second year and was currently working hard on Olympiad Mathematics problems.

He had tackled some problems that left him quite puzzled, and coincidentally, Mr. Li had just come home when he ran to him, asking to hire a tutor.

As he entered, he heard Mr. Li talking on the phone with Anning: ”Alright, I’ll tell my friends, ask them to pay some attention, and I’ll have my secretary post it in the company group, so my employees can add some traffic if they’re free.”

After Mr. Li finished the call, Li Wenshu asked: ”Dad, what’s this about generating traffic?”

Mr. Li laughed and said: ”It’s because Mr. Yun called me, saying her boyfriend started a livestream. Since it’s just beginning, there aren’t many viewers, so they asked us to help spread the word and add some traffic.”

”What kind of stream is it?” Li Wenshu was curious.

After all, Mr. Yun was a legend he grew up hearing about, someone Mr. Li never stopped praising, always a role model and a benchmark for him: ”I remember Mr. Yun is only a few years older than me. She’s this young and already has a boyfriend? Wasn’t she engaged to the Rong Family? Is it off now?”

Mr. Li nodded: ”The engagement was off long ago. Now, she’s dating a younger guy, and from the looks of it, it’s quite serious.”

”Well, I’ll go check it out too.” Li Wenshu forgot about asking Mr. Li to hire a tutor and went to his room to find the livestream channel.

Upon entering, he was amused.

Li Wenshu thought Xiao Yuan was boasting to increase traffic, so he intended to expose him.

He deliberately picked a particularly difficult math problem that he couldn’t solve for days, posted it in the livestream channel, and asked Xiao Yuan: ”Can you solve this problem?”

Xiao Yuan, who was worried that no one was asking questions, took Li Wenshu’s prompt as a chance to showcase his abilities.

”Sure,” Xiao Yuan quickly replied, then took paper and pen in front of everyone in the livestream and started solving the problem while explaining it to Li Wenshu.

At this moment, Mr. Li entered the livestream channel.

Seeing it was Li Wenshu challenging Xiao Yuan, he initially thought he’d have to apologize to Anning if Xiao Yuan was embarrassed, but instead, Xiao Yuan smoothly solved the problem without breaking a sweat, doing it skillfully.

Hearing Xiao Yuan’s explanation lit a spark for Li Wenshu, and he used Xiao Yuan’s method to solve a similar problem, successfully solving it.

This invigorated Li Wenshu, who eagerly posted all the types of problems he didn’t understand to Xiao Yuan.

Mr. Li noticed that his son was treating Mr. Yun’s boyfriend as a private tutor.

Feeling a bit embarrassed for taking advantage, Mr. Li immediately began sending gifts, from six hundred and sixty-six candies to rocket launchers and submarines.

Seeing Mr. Li’s actions, other senior executives whom Anning had collaborated with entered looking for some fun but ended up witnessing Mr. Li’s showering of gifts. They joked, ”Old Li is doing it on purpose, isn’t he?”

Consequently, these executives felt it wouldn’t be appropriate if they didn’t also show some appreciation, so they followed his lead and sent gifts too.

Soon, Xiao Yuan’s livestream was filled with flying yachts.
