The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Yang Fuyu found a job in the county, exhausted every day, while Yang Dachou wanted to stay home but couldn’t due to Wang Shushu’s scolding.

Fortunately, real estate has boomed in recent years, making sand valuable. Some people started selling river sand, which contains iron, and large magnets could extract the iron.

Yang Dachou joined a group from several villages to extract iron. The price of iron has been rising over the past two years, so a good day could earn you considerable money.

He only worked for a couple of months when the incident with river sand extraction occurred, entangling him, sinking into the river and being crushed by a machine, leaving him paralyzed.

Yang Dachou lay on the bed unable to move, and his temper flared.

He blamed Wang Shushu for his current condition.

If Wang Shushu hadn’t forced him to work, he wouldn’t have ended up like this.

He had a son to support him, and his granddaughter was about to take her university entrance exams. He felt it was time to retire, yet Wang Shushu kept scolding him mercilessly. Wang Shushu could relax at home without doing anything, but sent him to do dangerous and tiring work.

Thinking about it, Yang Dachou cursed Wang Shushu and hit her while she was tending to him.

Wang Shushu was quite angry and went out to tell Xiao Qun her grievances. Whether intentionally or not, Xiao Qun comforted her by saying: ”Don’t be too sad, I don’t think Yang Dachou has many days left. When he’s gone, you’ll no longer be in a difficult spot. Then I’ll work on getting a divorce, and maybe we’ll be able to be together openly.”

Wang Shushu pondered Xiao Qun’s words after returning home.

Then, when Yang Dachou wanted to relieve himself while Wang Shushu was away, he couldn’t get anyone’s attention and ended up dirtying the bed.

Wang Shushu had to take care of him, which disgusted her thoroughly.

She thought, after spending half a lifetime with Yang Dachou, she hadn’t liked him, and now had to endure his wretchedness. It was unbearably frustrating. Hearing people say Yang Dachou didn’t have many days left, she figured she’d make him suffer less, and hasten his departure.

So, Wang Shushu dared once, secretly giving Yang Dachou some food laced with poison.

Yang Dachou’s body was already weak, and after being poisoned, he naturally succumbed.

Yang Fuyu and his wife knew Yang Dachou wouldn’t last long, maybe just a few months or half a year. So when Yang Dachou died, they weren’t surprised. People in the village said it was better this way, at least he wouldn’t burden his descendants and wouldn’t suffer anymore. Thus, without any doubt, they started organizing the funeral.

If it weren’t for Anning’s disclosure, no one would have known Wang Shushu was behind Yang Dachou’s demise.

After Anning told the story, she mentioned the Xiao family: ”Xiao Qun wasn’t involved in poisoning your great uncle; after being questioned by the police, he was released. However, his wife got wind of the matter and threatened divorce, or else she’d report him. Xiao Qun got scared and agreed to divorce. When divorcing, Xiao Bai returned and forced Xiao Qun to give the house and shop to He Fangfang. I reckon, due to this, your Aunt Qinzi and others will only send money to He Fangfang in the future.”

Su Mingzhu blinked, feeling the situation was as surreal as a dream—how did such things happen? It was truly beyond imagination.

Anning remembered something else: ”Oh, we did a paternity test, and Yang Fugui is not your great uncle’s son but is Wang Shushu and Xiao Qun’s. Your grandfather stayed at Yangjiazhuang to handle this matter.”

Uh?

Su Mingzhu was further shocked: ”Yang Fugui isn’t part of our family? Then I don’t have to call him uncle?”

Anning nodded: ”No need.”

Su Mingzhu was thrilled, she disliked Yang Fugui the most. In a past life, Yang Fugui played a significant role in her mother marrying the loser Yi Qihang. Now that Yang Fugui wasn’t a part of their family anymore, he wouldn’t have the face to seek anything from her family in the future. If she targeted him in the future, her parents probably wouldn’t intervene.

Thinking this way, Su Mingzhu became even happier.

Anning and Xiao Yuan returned after a long period of being busy.

Because of Yang Dachou’s incident, they missed a lot of work and were naturally catching up after returning.

Once things calmed down, Yang Erchou and the others returned.

Su Mingzhu and Su Mingyu were particularly delighted to see the Old Madam.

They were raised by the Old Madam since childhood and had a deep bond with her.

After chatting with the Old Madam for a while, Su Mingzhu asked about Yang Lao Mao: ”Great Grandma, didn’t Great Grandpa come?”

The Old Madam laughed. Originally, she was worried that after one of Yang Dachou’s couple died and the other got imprisoned, Yang Lao Mao might want to follow Yang Erchou to the Capital.

If that happened, the Old Madam would be thoroughly disgusted.

Unexpectedly, Anning had it all sorted out in advance.

”He didn’t come; your Great Grandpa is with your Uncle and the others.”

The Old Madam smiled and said to Su Mingzhu: ”Your mom talked to your Aunt, and your Aunt said even though your Great Uncle is gone, the responsibility of caring for elders was previously agreed upon and they won’t shirk it. Besides, the elderly are used to living here, and going to the Capital wouldn’t be as comfortable as living at home. They convinced your Great Grandpa to agree to stay home for their care.”

Su Mingzhu frowned.

How could her Aunt be so generous?

The Song Xiaoli she remembered wasn’t like this. Though not bad, she wasn’t so magnanimous and reasonable.

Suddenly, Su Mingzhu realized her mom must have said something to Song Xiaoli, with mutual exchange of benefits, which made Song Xiaoli so eager to keep Yang Lao Mao.
