The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Wang Shushu sat heavily on the ground: ”Dachou, did you see that, your mother and brother won’t let you rest even in death, this is making you die with eyes open.”

Yang Erchou kept a cold face and said nothing.

The Old Madam’s face had already changed color from anger.

Anning asked Gu Anzhen and Yang Yu to keep an eye on the Old Madam, then she walked up to Wang Shushu and said loudly, ”Auntie, what are you doing? My uncle was murdered, of course he can’t rest in peace. Only by finding out who murdered him and making that person face justice, can my uncle truly rest in peace. Auntie, if you don’t let us investigate, isn’t that a guilty conscience?”

The Old Madam was so angry she pointed at Wang Shushu and scolded, ”If you had any human decency and remembered your years of marriage with Dachou, you wouldn’t stop this.”

Yang Fuyu’s wife also came over to persuade Wang Shushu, ”Mom, grandma is right, let’s listen to grandma and second uncle on this.”

Wang Shushu pushed Yang Fuyu’s wife away, ”Get away from me. If it weren’t for your unfilial behavior, not taking good care of your father, how would he have died? I think it’s you who caused his death.”

Yang Fuyu’s wife, named Song Xiaoli, was sincerely trying to advise, never expecting Wang Shushu to blame her like this, bringing tears to Song Xiaoli’s eyes.

This Song Xiaoli had a tendency to take advantage of small things and her words could be sharp sometimes, but those were minor faults. She didn’t have major faults; she was kind-hearted and wasn’t as sexist as Yang Dachou’s family.

Song Xiaoli gave birth to a daughter, which made Wang Shushu look down on her. Over the years, Wang Shushu and she had a poor mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship. Today, she sincerely wanted to prevent Wang Shushu from making a scene.

Who knew Wang Shushu would not distinguish right from wrong and lose her temper on her?

Tears streamed from Song Xiaoli’s eyes as she pinched Yang Fuyu, ”That’s your father, say something, are you dead? Why aren’t you making a sound.”

Yang Fuyu, who feared his wife, quickly responded on her behalf, ”Mom, what are you doing? Xiaoli just wanted to advise you, why are you biting everyone like a mad dog?”

These words almost choked Wang Shushu.

Is this how a son talks to his mother? To scold his mother as a mad dog for his wife?

This time, Wang Shushu’s grief poured out in tears of deep sorrow.

Anning watched coldly without intervening.

By then, Su Mingzhu and others had woken up, dressed, and arrived to find chaos, discovering that it was all because Yang Dachou was murdered.

Su Mingzhu was completely stunned.

She quietly asked Su Mingyu, ”Can you tell if it’s natural death just by looking at the face?”

Su Mingyu led Su Mingzhu a bit further, ”I don’t really understand, but our parents have a strong literary background, especially loving ancient history and literature; not long ago, I saw them reading some hard-to-find ancient medical books as well as ancient Taiwanese studies.”

Oh my god.

Su Mingzhu was fully shocked, thinking that her mother was aiming high; she wondered how her scientist mother had ventured into theology.

Su Mingyu saw Su Mingzhu’s expression, ”Theology and science are actually very close; many scientists begin studying theology in their later years. In my opinion, theology is simply science we don’t understand yet. We find it mysterious because we know so little, so we call it theology. If we knew enough, it would be called science.”

This explanation is truly impressive.

Su Mingzhu raised a thumb, ”Admiration, admiration.”

Then she asked, ”You’re suggesting that mom already saw that Uncle wasn’t a natural death and only deliberately pointed it out after the body was brought up today?”

Su Mingyu tucked an annoying strand of hair behind her ear, ”Perhaps.”

Oh, come on, Su Mingzhu rolled her eyes, why don’t you speak clearly?

But Su Mingyu ignored her and went directly to find Anning.

Su Mingzhu rubbed her forehead; being the one with the lowest IQ in the family of four, not understanding the thoughts of her three significant family members was truly distressing.

It was just at this time that the police arrived.

A few officers entered, ”Who reported the case?”

Anning and Xiao Yuan stepped forward, ”We reported it.”

Anning recounted the situation to the police, ”My aunt says my uncle died of illness, but I see something wrong with his face, and I want to find out the truth.”

The Old Madam also approached, clutching the officer’s hand, ”Comrade, you must uncover the cause of my son’s death; he can’t die with unjust grievances.”

Why of course, the police came with a forensic expert.

The forensic expert approached to observe, took some tissue samples, and conducted some simple tests.

He tested with available tools in the police car, then announced loudly, ”The samples taken from the deceased’s mouth suggest the deceased died from poisoning, with some toxins still remaining in the mouth. The exact cause of death requires further examination.”

Thus, Yang Dachou’s corpse was transported for an autopsy.

The Public Security Bureau quickly dispatched more experienced officers to conduct routine inquiries with Yang Dachou’s family and people he had contact with prior to his death.

Once the police left, the Old Madam cried on the floor, gasping, ”Oh, my poor son, my doomed son, you lived honestly all your life without offending anyone, who so heartlessly poisoned you?”

Yang Erchou was also very angry.

He couldn’t easily scold his sister-in-law, Wang Shushu, and instead grabbed Yang Fuyu’s collar and questioned, ”How are you taking care of your father, huh, letting him be poisoned at home? You were completely unaware, just wanting to proceed with the funeral. If Ningning hadn’t discovered it, your father would have died unjustly, and we’d be kept in the dark forever.”

Yang Fuyu was also very upset.

He lowered his head without a word of defense.

This matter was indeed due to their carelessness. Had he been more attentive, his father wouldn’t have died like this.

Moreover, his father was in such pain, rolling and saying things before he died; he thought his father’s wound hurt, never imagining it was poisoning.

The Yang family’s funeral couldn’t proceed right away; the villagers who came to help dispersed after watching enough drama.

Anning also took the children home first.

Upon returning, she discussed with Gu Anzhen and others about sending the children back to the Capital.

After all, who knows when Yang Dachou’s case will be solved, the children staying here would only hinder their studies.

Gu Anzhen and Yang Yu agreed.

They all decided that even once the cause of Yang Dachou’s death was clarified and the culprit caught, they wouldn’t let the children come back for the funeral. After all, with them there, the children’s absence was understandable.

Thus, Wei Bin was dispatched to take the children back to the Capital.

In the Capital, they’d have Mrs. Wei and the Gu Family members to take care of them; the children were old enough not to worry too much.

The three sisters thought it might take days to clarify the matter.

But who knew that in less than half a day after Wei Bin left with the children, the case was resolved conclusively.

The one who poisoned Yang Dachou turned out to be Wang Shushu.

When the police took Wang Shushu away, the Old Madam furiously chased and hit her, ”You shameless thing, you have a cruel heart, give my son back his life.”

Then, the Old Madam, in a frenzy, beat Yang Lao Mao, ”It’s all your fault, I said Wang Shushu wasn’t good from the start, she seemed trouble, but you insisted on having Eldest marry her. Who would have thought... have you done a single good thing in your life, why don’t you die, you...”
