The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Xiao Family

He Fangfang is hiding in the room, crying.

She feels angry, helpless, and a bit ashamed.

Angry that Xiao Qun has been secretly in touch with Wang Shushu, ashamed because now everyone in Yangjiazhuang knows about it, and helpless about how to deal with it.

Xiao Hei and Xiao Li come into the room to find He Fangfang: ”Mom, what are we going to do about dad?”

He Fangfang, crying, says: ”How would I know? You all have your own families now, you need to handle this yourselves.”

Xiao Hei suggests: ”Call Qinzi and Xiao Bai back. Right now, it’s just those two... and Xiu’er, isn’t she with a big boss? Let her help think of a solution.”

Xiao Li takes out his phone and makes a call.

He calls Xiao Bai first.

Xiao Bai answers and says: ”Bro, I’m really busy here. I’ve got a bunch of clients waiting. If you have something to say, let’s talk tonight. I’m hanging up now.”

Xiao Li is so angry he almost throws his phone.

”Mom, look at the son you raised. Now that he’s with the second child, he just casts us aside. He won’t even answer the phone; isn’t that looking down on us?”

Xiao Hei then calls Xiao Qin.

After calling for a long time, no one answers. After a while, a man picks up the phone.

”Hello, who is this?”

Xiao Hei asks: ”Isn’t this Xiao Qin’s phone?”

The man laughs: ”Yes, it’s Xiao Qin’s phone. She’s busy right now, I’m her husband. Do you have something to speak with her about?”

Xiao Hei looks slightly uncomfortable: ”I’m her brother, something happened at home, have her come back.”

”Okay, I’ll let her know.”

Xiao Hei’s face worsens: ”Have her answer the phone.”

The person over there says: ”She’s really not available, don’t worry, I’ll let her know.”

Then, the phone just hangs up.

Xiao Hei also feels Xiao Li’s frustration: ”What kind of people are they?”

Both look at He Fangfang: ”Mom, you go find Xiao Yuan, you go plead with him, beg him while crying and kneeling, you raised him for over twenty years, if even begging doesn’t work, then he’s too heartless, people will certainly gossip about it.”

He Fangfang is uncertain: ”Will this really work? Back when A Yuan gave us the house, he said he’d sever all ties.”

”Is this something that can just be cut off?”

Xiao Hei loudly says: ”Without our family, he might have been long gone; our family gave him the kindness of survival and nurture...”

”All right, I’ll go beg him.”

He Fangfang thinks about it and agrees.

She just steps out of the house and sees Anning walking over, smiling.

”Auntie, can I have a word with you?”

He Fangfang is a bit afraid of Anning, but doesn’t dare to refuse: ”Okay, say what you have to say.”

Anning takes He Fangfang’s arm and walks slowly, reaching a small grove quite far from the Xiao Family.

”Auntie, I know you must be feeling awful. You’ve been with my Uncle Xiao for so many years, now your grandchildren are so grown up, and this kind of thing happens—can you really feel good about it? Where could you possibly keep face?”

This statement makes He Fangfang cry on the spot: ”Ningning, you understand my feelings. I truly feel stifled, I don’t want to deal with that old bastard, but what choice do I have? No matter how wrong he is, he’s still the father of my kids, the grandfather of my grandchildren; without him, how could I live?”

Anning pats He Fangfang: ”Auntie, do you think my grandma is living well?”

He Fangfang nods: ”Yes, she’s living well. Who doesn’t envy the life of the Old Madam in our village? It’s really beyond words.”

Anning smiles: ”My grandma only started living well after leaving my grandpa. Auntie, you have even more children than my grandma does, seven of them, and now they’re all settled and accomplished; in the future, who’s not going to take care of you? Do you really need to worry about my Uncle Xiao?”

He Fangfang frowns slightly.

Anning continues: ”Think about it, A Yuan left you a house and a shop, which are now rented out. The monthly rent isn’t insignificant, plus Qinzi and Xiao Bai send you money every month, which isn’t little either. And think, Xiu’er and Xueqing should not have sent you little money either.”

What Anning says is true. Indeed, Xiao Xiu clung to a wealthy man and is cursed as a mistress, but she hasn’t forgotten to send money to Xiao Qun and his wife, maybe not monthly, but at least every year.

Anning leans in closely and whispers: ”Auntie, wouldn’t all this money be so much more enjoyable if spent on yourself alone? Why even share it with others? If my uncle was really good to you, that would be understandable, but is he really treating you well? If he was really good to you, would he do such a thing? To be honest, my dad suspects that Fugui is Uncle Xiao’s son. Auntie, if that’s true, Fugui is soon getting out of prison. Our Yang Family won’t take him in, so he’s sure to come to you and Uncle Xiao. By then, your money will be split among three people.”
