The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

While the Old Madam and Yang Baoni were talking, Xiao Yuan was also on the phone.

He was calling Su Zhong.

”Uncle, do you know what happened to my aunt?”

Su Zhong was the party secretary of Sujiatun, and he knew quite a lot; plus he had a wife who loved gossiping, so naturally, he was well-informed.

As soon as Su Zhong heard this, he knew Xiao Yuan was rushing back, and he quickly said, ”I know a bit, your aunt inquired, and it’s like this...”

After listening, Xiao Yuan’s face turned gloomy.

After he hung up, he went to find Anning and the others including the Old Madam.

”Grandma, about my aunt...”

He recounted everything he’d heard from Su Zhong.

Just then, Zhang Xiangxiang and Zhang Xiangshan arrived and coincidentally overheard.

Zhang Xiangshan clenched his fists in anger, nearly punching the wall.

Zhang Xiangxiang’s eyes were red: ”This can’t be left alone, they’re committing murder.”

It was indeed murder.

Yang Junni fell ill, wasn’t it because of Yang Fugui’s provocation?

If when she first felt unwell, Yang Fugui hadn’t stopped her and said those things to anger her, perhaps Yang Junni could have calmed down.

And when Yang Junni first fainted, if Yang Lao Mao had hurried to find help, she wouldn’t have ended up in the ICU.

Zhang Xiangshan, being young and unable to control his emotions, was still furious: ”Yang Fugui is simply inhuman, look at what kind of beastly things he’s done. How old is Sanni, and how old is he? Sanni might not have a clear mind, but does he also not have a clear mind? And my mother...”

Anning went over and patted Xiangshan on the shoulder: ”Calm down, let’s hurry back and see how aunt is doing. If possible, arrange a transfer, try to get her to the Provincial City or the Capital, we must find a way to save her.”

Soon it was boarding time, and the group got on the plane.

After getting off the plane, they took a taxi from the airport to the county hospital.

When Anning and the others arrived outside the ward, they saw Yang Baoni and Yang Lingni both keeping watch outside, along with their uncle.

The uncle should have cried, as he now looked terrible and his eyes were also red.

When he saw Zhang Xiangxiang and Zhang Xiangshan, tears just uncontrollably started falling.

”Xiangxiang, Xiangshan, finally you’re back, your mother...”

Anning walked over to Yang Baoni: ”Second Aunt, where are Grandpa and Yang Fugui?”

Yang Baoni said angrily: ”No one knows where Yang Fugui went, your Grandpa said he has a headache and isn’t feeling well, so he’s lying at home. Your uncle and aunt haven’t come over either.”

Anning was infuriated hearing this.

What kind of people are they?

Yang Fugui caused someone to fall ill, and they don’t even show up.

Even if Yang Dachou and Wang Shushu don’t come over for Yang Fugui’s sake, they are still Yang Junni’s brother and sister-in-law. When their own sister is like this, they should have at least paid a visit.

But these two haven’t even shown their faces, this isn’t just being inconsiderate, it’s completely inhuman.

The Old Madam was also angered after hearing this.

Xiao Yuan hurriedly supported the Old Madam: ”Grandma, are you okay?”

The Old Madam waved her hand: ”I’m fine, help me sit down, I can’t afford to fall ill. I have to outlive the old man, because if I go early, who knows how he’d take advantage of his position to bully you all.”

The Old Madam was sharp and clear-minded.

”Okay, I’ll help you sit down.”

While supporting the Old Madam to sit, Xiao Yuan discreetly massaged some acupoints to calm her emotions.

After Anning understood the situation, she informed everyone and asked Yang Erchou and his wife to look after Su Mingzhu and Su Mingyu while she went to find a doctor to inquire about Yang Junni’s condition.

Coincidentally, the attending doctor at the county hospital was someone Anning knew, her high school classmate’s father. Anning went over and directly asked: ”Uncle, how is my aunt’s condition?”

The attending doctor also knew Anning.

Anning was once the top scorer in the college entrance exams, and she had been doing particularly well these years, becoming well-known in the county. The attending doctor invited her to sit and explained Yang Junni’s condition in detail.

”The situation is not great. Over these years, she hasn’t paid much attention to her diet, and coupled with emotional fluctuations, it led to a brain hemorrhage. Also, there are some heart issues, but the primary concern is the brain hemorrhage, which is severe. Treating her here, the best we can do is save her life, but she won’t be in good condition. At best, she’d be paralyzed, at worst, she might become a vegetative state. Your family needs to be mentally prepared.”

Anning considered this: ”If we go to the Provincial City or the Capital, is there a chance of a cure?”

The attending doctor shook his head: ”We contacted doctors in the Provincial City immediately, and they don’t have a good solution. You’d need to reach out to the Capital yourselves, but I suspect there’s not much hope.”

Anning’s heart sank.

She asked several more questions before leaving.

After coming out, Anning went to find Zhang Jianfang: ”Uncle, did the doctor tell you about my aunt’s condition?”

Zhang Jianfang nodded: ”He did.”

Anning then asked: ”So what are you planning to do? You are the closest family member to my aunt here, tell us your thoughts.”

”If it’s possible to go to the Provincial City or the Capital, it would be best to go. Given your aunt’s condition... even if she can’t be cured, we must try. She should receive treatment in the hospital, we can’t let her go home to wait for death.”

Zhang Jianfang spoke these words with all his might.

He knew in his heart that Yang Junni’s situation was not optimistic, even if they went to the Capital, the chances of recovery were slim: ”As long as she’s alive, even if she’s truly paralyzed, I’ll take care of her for the rest of her life.”

Crying, Zhang Xiangxiang told Anning: ”Sister, we’ll treat her, how could we not? Even if it takes everything we have.”

Anning nodded: ”Then we’ll proceed with the treatment.”

Zhang Xiangshan came over: ”Sister, I want to go to Sanni’s house.”

Anning knew what Zhang Xiangshan wanted to do: ”Take your brother-in-law with you, and be careful.”

Xiao Yuan looked at Anning: ”I’ll take Mingzhu and Mingyu with me and drop them off at my uncle’s house. My aunt will watch them.”

The hospital wasn’t a good place for the kids to stay always, and Anning agreed: ”Please ask uncle and aunt to help out. Tomorrow, when mom and dad return, they can help take care of them too.”

After Xiao Yuan and Zhang Xiangshan left with the two children, Gu Anzhen and Yang Yu also called to check on Yang Junni’s condition. Their families were already on the train heading back.

Anning updated them on the situation, advising them not to worry, reminding them that since Yang Junni was in the ICU, they wouldn’t be able to see her upon arriving, so they should remain calm and address matters once they return.

Yang Baoni and Yang Lingni were talking with the Old Madam.

Yang Baoni said softly to the Old Madam: ”Ma’am, don’t blame us for being heartless. With elder sister like this... how can we take care of Dad from now on? We felt sorry for him having a hard time with elder brother, so we’ve been giving him money regularly and taking turns to wash clothes and cook for him. If it weren’t for the three of us sisters these past years, he would have been begging on the streets long ago. But him? We show care for him, has he ever cared for us? When something happens, he still prioritizes his sons and grandsons, and for a grandson, he’d sacrifice my sister’s life.”
