The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Xiao Yuan and Anning spent the New Year at the Su family home, and it was anything but peaceful.

During the New Year, many people from the village came over to play, especially the young ones, who brought cigarettes and alcohol to chat with Xiao Yuan.

Some even specifically brought their children over to wish a happy New Year, just to get a share of the lucky money.

The lucky money is a small matter.

The main issue is that those who come to smoke and drink aren’t really welcome.

If it was just Xiao Yuan and Anning, it would be fine, but the problem is there are still two kids at home.

During the harsh winter, it’s impossible to keep the windows open. Northern winters are very cold, so if the windows are open, the kids can’t bear the cold. But if you don’t open the windows, the people drinking and smoking inside make the place smell terrible, especially the smoke, which makes Su Mingzhu and Su Mingyu cry.

Anning took the two kids to play in another room. After the New Year’s visitors left, they said the Su family’s bride was too haughty, as she didn’t come out to greet them, clearly looking down on them.

But Anning couldn’t possibly entertain them and make the kids suffer just to accommodate them.

In no time, Geng Shuhua was quite annoyed.

Everyone loves their own kids, especially after Anning informed Geng Shuhua about the dangers of smoking. After that, when someone came over, Geng Shuhua would directly block them at the door.

She wore a thick cotton jacket, her pocket full of lucky money, and when someone came to visit, Geng Shuhua would directly hand over some money and send them away at the door, not letting them into the house at all.

With that, things were much quieter at home.

After the New Year, they stayed at the Su family’s for a few days, then moved to the Yang Family for a few more days.

As the tenth day was approaching, Anning started packing up to return to the Capital.

The Old Madam had been living comfortably in the Capital these past two years, and she didn’t want to return to the village. Since Anning was going back to the Capital, the Old Madam wanted to follow.

Anning packed while talking to Li Cuixia: ”Mom, I bought a house in the Capital for you and dad. In a couple of years, when you hand over the factory to someone else, you can come with me to the Capital.”

Li Cuixia was a bit hesitant: ”Is this okay? Our roots are here in Yangjiazhuang. If your dad and I leave, there’s no one left here. Plus, your sister is here too, we can’t just abandon her.”

Anning thought for a moment: ”The Gu Family has long wanted my sister to move to the Capital. Previously, my sister didn’t want to go because of her husband’s job here. But now Xiao Xu is growing up, she’s considering moving to the Capital, considering that schooling is better there. The Capital offers better educational resources than here, and it would be easier for him to get into a university from there.”

”I’m not worried about her; it’s Xiao Yu I’m concerned about.”

Li Cuixia was anxious about both her adopted and biological daughters. One had a blood relationship with her, and the other was a daughter she raised for over twenty years, she couldn’t leave either behind.

Anning hugged Li Cuixia’s shoulder: ”Sister Xiao Yu would be even easier to handle. After Aunt divorced Wei Daniu, the Wei family brothers weren’t very fond of her. Even my brother-in-law’s not well-liked by the Wei family. Instead of letting Sister Xiao Yu suffer cold shoulders here, it’d be better if they moved to the Capital too. My brother-in-law is skilled, and my sister can cook. Once in the Capital, I’ll help them open a small restaurant and help them buy a house early on. They can have a good life.”

If they could move to the Capital, Li Cuixia was definitely in favor of Yang Yu relocating.

In the Capital, they wouldn’t have to endure disdain from the Wei family, and there’d be fewer whispers. Plus, it would be much better for the child; the Capital has lots of good schools, much better than the county here.

Considering this, Li Cuixia asked: ”Can the household registration be transferred there? It’s okay if my sister’s family’s registration can’t be transferred, as long as Shasha’s registration can, so she can study in the Capital in the future, which is much better than here.”

”Yes.”

Anning gritted her teeth and agreed.

She had made some research achievements, and with the phones and new materials she introduced earlier, she was a recognized figure with the authorities, so helping transfer some household registrations wasn’t difficult.

Since her three daughters could move to the Capital, Li Cuixia was bound to agree.

Later, Li Cuixia called Yang Yu to tell her about this.

So, the team going back to the Capital grew considerably.

Su Liang and Yang Erchou’s families didn’t join them as they planned to settle their affairs before going.

But Yang Yu’s family and Gu Anzhen’s family of three moved to the Capital.

Gu Anzhen’s family planned to stay with the Gu Family for a few days, while Yang Yu was there to inspect the market.

Upon reaching the Capital, Yang Yu’s family stayed at Anning’s house first, then Anning showed her some locations, eventually finding a shop near University City.

After Wei Mom and Wei Daniu divorced, they got some money from Wei Daniu. With what Yang Yu and Wei Bin made over the years, they paid for the shop.

After buying the shop, naturally, they had to buy a house.

But the money was spent on the shop, and they didn’t have enough left for the house.

Anning advised Yang Yu to take out a loan, pay the down payment, then pay the rest monthly.

Never having been in debt like this, Yang Yu felt a weight on her heart, as if it was a heavy stone, filling her with unease.

Anning comforted her: ”What are you worried about? I’ve got your back. If you can’t repay, do you think I’d let the bank take your house? For my Shasha, I can’t let that happen. Sis, it’s not that I’m saying, but you’re too cautious. If it were me, I’d take advantage of the available houses and take out loans to buy several more.”

Uh?

Yang Yu was really impressed: ”Just buying one has me under pressure, let alone several. Don’t make me more anxious.”

When Yang Yu got home, Wei Bin discussed with her: ”Honey, let’s buy a few more houses.”

”What do you mean? Isn’t one enough to live in?”

Yang Yu glared at Wei Bin. The house they bought was plenty big, over a hundred square meters, with three bedrooms, more than enough for their family.

Wei Bin smiled: ”It’s definitely enough to live in, but we should think about our daughter. Look at Mingzhu and Mingyu, they have substantial assets at such a young age. What does our Shasha have? While I’m not as capable as my brother-in-law, we’re still young, willing, and able to work. We might as well plan for Shasha early on. I figured buying a couple more houses, so that when Shasha marries, she has her dowry and stands firm wherever she goes.”

That makes sense too.

Yang Yu thought of what Anning said.

What am I afraid of? I have someone covering for me.

Not just Anning, even Yang Erchou had earned quite a bit these past few years.

The Old Madam lived with Anning without worry during these years, so Yang Erchou and his wife didn’t have to support the elders, and his daughters had good lives and didn’t require his attention. The money they earned was theirs to keep.

Moreover, Anning would send a sum to Yang Erchou every month, clothing and many items were bought by Anning in the Capital and sent back.

It’s safe to say that Yang Erchou and his wife hardly spent any money in these two years.

His factory earned a lot these years, and they had rental income from a shop in the city, accumulating quite a bit of money.

Li Cuixia had secretly told Yang Yu that their money was reserved for her, for future use by Shasha.

After all, the Gu family was wealthy and powerful, with Gu Anzhen taken care of by the Gu family, they didn’t need Yang Erchou’s help.

Anning’s side was even more impressive; how much money Xiao Yuan had was unknown, but it was clear he earned more than anyone could spend in a lifetime.

Yang Erchou’s money was inconsequential to Xiao Yuan.

Thus, the money was essentially Yang Yu’s.

Realizing this, Yang Yu was no longer afraid; her dad had money, so why should she fear buying two houses?

Besides, she wasn’t idle; she and Wei Bin were hardworking. After opening the shop, they weren’t afraid of toiling, starting early and finishing late, and believed they could repay the mortgage.

Yang Yu figured it out and told Wei Bin: ”Let’s do as you say. I’ll have Anning help us find a couple more houses. If we’re going to owe money anyway, we might as well owe more.”
