The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Gu Zhiyuan was scared senseless, for a long time he didn’t react.

Xiao Qin looked at Gu Xueqing with a ’second fool’ gaze.

At this moment, there were some customers in the restaurant who occasionally looked at Anning or glanced at Gu Xueqing. Some felt Anning wasn’t proper, while others thought Gu Xueqing’s brain was faulty.

Anning laughed.

She thought to herself that the world is vast and holds all kinds of birds; she had traversed many lifetimes and had seen plenty of rare characters, but someone as extreme as Gu Xueqing was indeed rare.

Anning looked at Gu Zhiyuan: ”Are you sure she’s a girl from your family? Wasn’t there a mix-up at the hospital when she was born?”

Gu Zhiyuan rubbed his forehead: ”I’m really not sure now.”

Anning examined Gu Xueqing: ”Why do you talk to me like that? What does Yi Qihang have to do with me? What I do, what’s it got to do with him?”

Anning walked up to Gu Xueqing, looking her straight in the eye: ”Out of consideration for Gu, I won’t fuss with you today, but I’m telling you now, if you dare to speak nonsense about me again in the future, every time I see you, I’ll deal with you.”

Xiao Yuan stood by Anning’s side, Anning pointed to Xiao Yuan: ”He is my boyfriend, we’re from the same village, grew up together, and before I got into the Capital, we were already dating. Back then, who was Yi Qihang? Sorry, I didn’t know him. Furthermore, my boyfriend and I have always been affectionate, we’ve never had a fight, never been at odds, nor have we ever broken up, so it’s impossible for me to ever get involved with someone else. Plus, when Yi Qihang said he wanted to pursue me, I repeatedly told him I have a boyfriend, can’t accept him, yet he stubbornly insists on saying things that cause misunderstandings, just like you with a faulty brain, I’m no doctor, can’t treat his mental illness, so I simply won’t see him.”

Xiao Yuan chuckled, he pointed at himself: ”Miss Gu, take a good look, comparing my stature, looks, and temperament with Yi Qihang, any girl whose eyes aren’t blind would probably choose someone like me, right? I am completely devoted to my girlfriend, never privately meet with any female without blood ties, and what kind of person Yi Qihang is, Miss Gu probably knows too. Instead of criticizing Yi Qihang for his flirtations and not settling down, you come to criticize my girlfriend, Miss Gu, you’re being a bit dishonest.”

Anning and Xiao Yuan’s words left Gu Xueqing without arguments.

Because she knew Anning and Xiao Yuan were speaking the truth.

Honestly, Anning was indeed not an improper person, she was very good to her boyfriend, the two appeared quite loving, whereas Yi Qihang was merely attempting to be a third party.

”Miss, is this Yi Qihang you’re talking about your boyfriend?”

A middle-aged woman dining in the restaurant found it quite strange and couldn’t help but ask Gu Xueqing.

Gu Xueqing nodded.

That female customer was truly amused: ”Miss, I’ve lived quite a long life, this is the first time I’ve ever encountered someone like you. I suggest your family promptly take you to the hospital for a checkup, there’s definitely something wrong with your brain, one hundred percent. I’ve never seen someone not beat or scold their cheating boyfriend, but instead persuade the girl he likes to accept him, tsk tsk, the world truly has all sorts of people.”

Others spoke even more harshly: ”Miss, have a conscience, won’t you? I think the young man and woman look quite compatible, the young man is very handsome, and the girl is also very pretty, it’s apparent they’ve grown up together by the way they talk and act in harmony. You come to break them up, what’s your mind thinking? I advise you to act like a decent person.”

”Yes, people like you just don’t exist.”

”Miss, who taught you this? Are you learning those outdated feudal ideas, wanting to find a concubine for your boyfriend? What era is this, such thoughts are really not appropriate.”

Gu Xueqing was red-faced with tears glistening in her eyes due to the customers’ reprimands one after another.

”I, I...”

Gu Zhiyuan also felt profoundly embarrassed.

He grabbed Gu Xueqing: ”Alright, we’re not eating here anymore, let’s leave, this is truly shameful.”

As they left, Gu Zhiyuan apologized to Anning: ”Really sorry, I’ll invite you for a meal someday to make up for this.”

Anning waved it off with a smile: ”No need for apologies, in the future, you better let your family manage her well.”

Gu Zhiyuan dragged Gu Xueqing away.

Anning, Xiao Yuan, and Xiao Qin had lost their appetite, so they packed the remaining food to take away.

After settling the bill, the three took the leftovers home to reheat for dinner.

During dinner, Xiao Qin asked: ”Second sister-in-law, what’s with this Gu Xueqing?”

Anning recounted the matter about Gu Xueqing.

This truly broadened Xiao Qin’s perspective.

Xiao Qin was dumbfounded for quite a while: ”My, is she truly dumb or pretending? A wealthy young lady, she lacks for nothing and surely won’t have trouble finding someone, yet she insists on clinging to a rotten-rooted tree.”

Xiao Qin sighed and then advised Anning: ”Second sister-in-law, keep your distance from that girl, people like her can do anything when they go crazy.”

”Mm.”

Anning nodded solemnly.

After dinner, Anning went to school.

After her afternoon classes, Gu Zhiyuan came looking for her.

He called Anning to a less crowded corridor, and with great embarrassment said to Anning: ”I really didn’t expect she turned out like this, our family didn’t notice anything wrong before, maybe now it’s because she’s spent too much time with Yi Qihang, her brain is really...”

Gu Zhiyuan was also at a loss for words.

Anning laughed: ”I understand you’re feeling bad, you’re actually quite pitiable, but I’ve checked, she’s not under any spell, I think she’s possibly afflicted by some crush syndrome. If no one in your family has been like this before, I’d still suggest a paternity test be done, maybe the wrong baby was taken home from the hospital.”

Gu Zhiyuan furrowed his brow and thought for a while: ”Logically, our family is quite normal, my uncle and aunt are career-oriented, and my cousin sister...”

Anning waited for Gu Zhiyuan to settle before speaking softly: ”I actually need your help with something.”

She described her cousin’s running performance to Gu Zhiyuan: ”I think his performance is pretty good, despite not eating well, lacking nutrition, and not wearing professional running shoes or having any formal training. If he receives professional training and proper nutrition, his scores could improve a lot.”

Gu Zhiyuan was delighted: ”I happen to know a coach in a track team, a friend of mine has an uncle who does this, I heard they’re currently selecting good seedlings. If your cousin is keen on developing in this area, you could have him give it a try.”

Anning was reassured: ”Alright, I’ll call home and let my aunt bring him for a try.”

Having completed the discussion, Anning watched Gu Zhiyuan walk away.

That night, she didn’t stay at the dormitory but went back to Xiao Yuan’s place.

Xiao Yuan prepared dinner, Anning ate a little carelessly, then shut herself in the study to communicate with the Heavenly Dao Consciousness.

In this communication, Anning realized the Heavenly Dao Consciousness in this world was incredibly weak.

Previously, when she came, she hadn’t carefully examined the world or looked at its rules; she thought dealing with Yi Qihang would require little effort, but unexpectedly encountered someone like Gu Xueqing, who played by no logical rules. Anning wanted to clarify what was going on with Gu Xueqing and intended to ask the Heavenly Dao Consciousness.
