The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

When Anning and Yang Erchou arrived at the county guesthouse, Xiao Yuan and Xiao Qun and their wives were already there.

Seeing Anning and the others coming over, Gu Huai Ren and Yao Na hurriedly stood up: ”Thank you for making the trip.”

Yang Erchou shook hands with Gu Huai Ren: ”To get to the bottom of this, this trip is a must. But you should also know An Zhen is in her postpartum month; it’s not good for us to drag her over. Whatever needs to be said, you tell me. I’ll pass it on to An Zhen.”

Gu Huai Ren and his wife had already asked around about Yang Anzhen’s situation. They knew she had nearly had a difficult labor and was currently resting in confinement, so of course they wouldn’t insist on her coming.

Besides, according to the test results, Yang Anzhen was his biological daughter. How could he bear to let his own girl mess up her postpartum recovery and suffer along with them?

”There’s no rush with this. Let’s make things clear first. As for An Zhen... we’ll talk after she finishes her confinement, so she won’t get upset and affect her recovery.”

Just from that, you could tell Gu Huai Ren was a very loving father to his children and that he was genuinely thinking of An Zhen.

”Alright.”

Yang Erchou nodded in agreement.

The three families each took their seats.

Right now, Xiao Qun and He Fangfang still felt a bit like they couldn’t believe it.

Especially He Fangfang; she kept muttering, ”How is she not my child? How can my second not be my own flesh and blood?”

Yao Na patiently explained to her: ”Back then the four of us gave birth on the same day. With all that chaos, it’s very possible they mixed the babies up. We never suspected anything for more than twenty years. But recently our family did a physical exam, and we discovered my girl’s blood type doesn’t match either of ours.”

Anning went over to explain blood types to He Fangfang.

”So, so this is like in the old operas, that blood test to prove kinship?”

He Fangfang didn’t really understand what ABO blood types and all that were, but she had her own way of grasping it.

Anning nodded: ”More or less the same idea.”

Then she added, ”In the past, our country didn’t have paternity tests, and people didn’t understand blood types and so on. But now technology’s advanced, and we have paternity testing in China. They can use blood or hair and the like to determine the blood relationship between two people.”

He Fangfang had to think for a long time before she could accept all this.

”Then, then where’s my child?”

Yao Na stood up: ”I’ll go call her over.”

Yao Na had barely left when everyone heard shrieks coming from the next room: ”I’m not going, I’m not going over there. How am I not your real daughter, Mom? I’ve called you Mom for over twenty years. Mom, Mom, I don’t want to go, I don’t want to acknowledge some country bumpkins as my parents...”

Anning lowered her eyes.

Even so, she still saw Xiao Qun’s face change drastically and the flicker of pain and embarrassment in He Fangfang’s eyes.

Anning stayed seated, not moving.

Xiao Yuan didn’t move either.

At this moment, another family arrived.

This was the Su family, who had taken home Anning’s biological older sister by mistake.

It was Su Liang and his wife, and Su Yu, who had been switched at birth.

Once the Su Family arrived, all four families were present. Gu Huai Ren went over the events back then again, and took out the paternity test reports for everyone to see.

To be honest, very few of the people sitting there could actually make sense of them.

Yang Erchou just looked at Anning.

Anning took their copy and glanced through it: ”Dad, Mom, this is our family’s report. Up top is the gene comparison between Dad and Sister Su Yu. The gene similarity between you two is ninety-nine point nine percent, which means it’s extremely likely you’re biological father and daughter.”

Yang Erchou’s whole body jolted, then he turned to look at Su Yu.

And sure enough, if you looked carefully, you could see that this Su Yu did bear some resemblance to Ge San Ni, but the shape of her face was also a bit like Li Cuixia’s.

Su Yu was stunned too. She sat there without speaking, but from the corner of her eye she kept sneaking glances at Yang Erchou and his wife, seeing a hint of fondness in their eyes.

Su Liang trembled as he asked Anning, ”Y-you’re the Yang family’s Second Miss, right? Help us look. In our family... which one is actually our child?”

Anning picked up the Su family’s results and read through them, then moved over and read them out line by line to Su Liang and his wife, finally pointing at the number for them: ”No two people in this world have exactly identical genes. And with such a high similarity between Uncle and Xiao Yuan, it can basically be confirmed you’re biological father and son.”

”S-so you’re saying the Xiao Family took my child home back then?”

Su Liang asked Anning in a low voice.

Anning nodded: ”That’s what the results show.”

Su Liang’s wife, Geng Shuhua, was already looking over at Xiao Yuan.

But He Fangfang was clutching Xiao Yuan tightly: ”Nonsense, how can my second not be ours? He looks so much like his grandpa...”
