The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Xiao Qun glared at Xiao Yuan: ”Ungrateful wolf.”

Xiao Yuan didn’t answer him.

He Fangfang went over to support Gu Qingxue, but Gu Xueqing screamed and shook off her hand: ”I don’t need you to support me, you’re not my family, my dad and mom are right here.”

She stood up wanting to find Yao Na, but Yao Na just looked at her coldly.

He Fangfang felt sad but said: ”Xueqing is truly loyal, unlike some people...”

”What loyalty? Not recognizing her biological parents, I see her as an ungrateful wolf.”

Xiao Qun, displeased, added another comment.

Anning couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

”Uncle Xiao is way too inconsistent, Xiao Yuan recognized his biological parents, and you call him ungrateful wolf. Xueqing doesn’t recognize them, you say the same about her. What do you really want, should they recognize or not?”

With Anning’s statement, Xiao Qun was speechless for quite a while.

Anning then went over and sat beside Su Yu: ”Sister Su Yu, I’m Anning.”

Su Yu had a slight smile on her face: ”I know you, last year’s top scorer, everyone in our village has heard about you.”

Li Cuixia, seeing Su Yu talking to Anning, felt a bit moved and asked Su Yu: ”Are you... doing well?”

Su Yu nodded: ”I’m alright, my dad and mom treat me well.”

”That’s good, that’s good.”

Li Cuixia kept looking at Su Yu, wanting to be closer to her but also afraid she wouldn’t want to, truly torn.

Gu Huai Ren coughed heavily: ”I have invited everyone today to reveal the truth from back then, and also, to recognize my daughter.”

Yang Erchou frowned: ”An Zhen is grown up, she’s married with kids. We can’t decide this for her. When you meet her, ask her what she wants. If she wants to come back to the Gu family, we won’t mind; if she wants to stay with the Yang family, she’s welcome too.”

”Naturally.”

Gu Huai Ren chuckled: ”The child is an adult now, so of course their opinion is the most important.”

Gu Xueqing exclaimed: ”I’m not going back, I’m not going to the countryside.”

Gu Huai Ren sneered: ”Earlier, you insisted on being with Yi Qihang. I announced then to sever our father-daughter relationship. Our Gu family has nothing to do with you anymore. What you do is up to you, I don’t care.”

He Fangfang suddenly rushed over and grabbed Gu Xueqing’s hand: ”Xueqing, my daughter, mom is here, mom definitely can’t bear to leave you. Let’s go back, come back with dad and mom.”

Xiao Qun frowned and said: ”If she’s not their biological daughter, it won’t work. Xueqing isn’t biologically theirs, so they can cut ties with her. If she were, they wouldn’t have the heart to.”

Li Cuixia softly asked Su Yu: ”What do you think? Do you want to come with us?”

Su Yu turned to look at Su Liang and Geng Shuhua.

Those two were holding Xiao Yuan’s hand, happily chatting away, not even glancing over.

Su Yu felt an ache in her heart.

”Since I know who my biological parents are, of course, I should recognize them. I am already engaged, and will be married in a few months. Whether I go back or not doesn’t really matter.”

”Engaged?”

Li Cuixia was a bit surprised: ”Engaged to which family? Is it from around here?”

Su Yu smiled: ”From the town, my little aunt introduced him. His dad’s name is Wei Daniu.”

Yang Erchou’s face changed drastically: ”It’s his family.”

Anning’s eyes slightly narrowed: ”I know his family.”

Yang Erchou had something on his mind, so he signaled to Li Cuixia.

Li Cuixia pulled Su Yu up and smiled to Gu Huai Ren and Yao Na: ”Since things are clear, we have matters at home, we’ll head out first.”

Yang Erchou said to Su Liang: ”Brother, today we’ll first take Xiao Yu back to introduce her to the family, the child’s grandmother hasn’t met her yet. We’ll let her meet, and in a few days let Xiao Yu return, okay?”

Su Liang felt a bit troubled.

Xiao Yuan whispered something to Geng Shuhua, and Geng Shuhua quickly agreed with a smile: ”Sure, why not, you’re her biological parents, taking her home is reassuring for us.”

After saying this, Geng Shuhua pulled Xiao Yuan up: ”We also need to take our son home first, his grandparents and uncles are all waiting to meet him.”

Xiao Qun wanted to stop them, but Geng Shuhua took Xiao Yuan swiftly away and Xiao Qun couldn’t stop them, feeling angry.

He Fangfang tried to pull Gu Xueqing away, but Gu Xueqing didn’t want to go, so in the end, Xiao Qun and He Fangfang left.

On their way back, Xiao Qun and He Fangfang were still cursing Gu Huai Ren for being heartless and ungrateful, throwing away a daughter they raised for over twenty years without any regard.

He Fangfang quietly discussed with Xiao Qun: ”When we get back, let’s prepare a room for Xueqing. This child surely hasn’t felt any family warmth in the Gu family, we need to treat her well in the future.”

Xiao Qun laughed: ”Of course, she was raised in the Capital as a Miss. I’m telling you, I found out that the Gu family is well-known. Xueqing grew up in the Gu family; even if Gu Huai Ren cruelly doesn’t recognize her, she must have saved a lot of money over the years, probably enough for our family to live on without doing anything for half a lifetime. If we bring her home, what do we have to fear?”

He Fangfang was in a good mood too: ”I never thought our biological daughter would have such a destiny, it’s our blessing too. Don’t worry, I will definitely treat her well, making her move and willing to recognize us.”

”What about Xiao Yuan? Are we giving him up?”

Xiao Qun just thought of Xiao Yuan.

He Fangfang laughed: ”We have many sons, we’re not lacking sons. Whether he’s here or not doesn’t make a difference. Earlier, he said he’d give us 300 yuan a month, now that we have our biological daughter, once she’s settled, will we still crave that money of his?”

Xiao Qun thought for a moment and nodded: ”That’s true, you know what, we ended up only having sons. If our seven kids included just one son and the rest were daughters, how great that would have been. We could save so much, demanding big dowries when each daughter got married, spending a little on building a house for the son and getting him married, and the rest of the money would be for us to enjoy life. That would be truly carefree.”

”Alas, we don’t have such luck.”

He Fangfang sighed.

Xiao Qun leaned in to He Fangfang’s ear and whispered: ”I’ve asked Xiao Yuan, he knows Xueqing and said she’s following a big boss who’s rich. Just a little of what slips through his fingers will be enough for us.”

”Really?”

He Fangfang’s eyes sparkled: ”If Xueqing doesn’t recognize us, we’ll go to the Capital, or find that big boss directly, anyway we need to get some benefits.”

On the other side, Su Liang and Geng Shuhua were also on their way to Sujiatun with Xiao Yuan.

On the way, Geng Shuhua kept talking to Xiao Yuan: ”Our family is considered well off in Sujiatun. Your uncle is the village chief, your third uncle drives the village bus, your little uncle is a teacher at the county school, your aunt married well, her family runs a grain and oil shop in town. Although your dad and I aren’t as well off as them, we’ve worked hard these years. Even though we haven’t saved much, the house has been rebuilt, your dad bought a motorcycle last year, life’s not bad in the village.”

Xiao Yuan listened as they walked: ”You and Dad have worked really hard all these years; forget about the house, just buying a motorcycle isn’t a small expense. I, back at the Xiao Family, couldn’t even think about motorcycles, we couldn’t afford a black-and-white TV. When I was a teenager, I loved watching TV so much that I went to a family in the village to watch. Later, they didn’t want us going anymore, and were rude about it, so I stopped watching altogether.”

Su Liang felt heartache hearing this: ”You’ve suffered, we do have a TV, though it’s black-and-white. When we get back, I’ll buy you a big color TV, you can watch however you like.”
