The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Fang Jianhua took his wife and parents out to a restaurant for a meal.

Zhou Chunhua originally wanted to tag along for a free meal, but no matter what, Fang Jianhua refused to take their family of three. Zhou Chunhua was quite angry and cursed after Fang Jianhua left.

Fang Jianshe sat on the sofa holding his head, ”Are you satisfied now? The parents will live with Lao Er from now on. I wonder how you’re going to manage.”

Actually, Zhou Chunhua also regretted it quite a bit.

But she didn’t say a single word of softness: ”Doesn’t matter, if they don’t care, we can still get by. At most, we’ll just be more frugal in the future.”

Fang Yuling sat cross-legged on the sofa playing with toys. As long as Zhou Chunhua didn’t beat her, she was quite happy. As for the family issues and the fact that Grandpa and Grandma wouldn’t take care of her, she didn’t mind at all.

Fang Jianhua and Yang Anzhen took the elder couple to a restaurant. Fang Jianhua ordered some meat dishes and two pounds of dumplings.

When the food was served, he said to Mr. Fang, ”Anzheng and I originally planned to go home to talk to you. Also, since the house will be renovated in spring, we don’t plan on doing much, just laying some tiles and installing a heater and a toilet. As long as it’s livable. But we don’t know who to hire for the renovation. If Dad knows anyone, could you introduce them? Also, trouble you to keep an eye on the house renovation.”

Mr. Fang was quite pleased that Fang Jianhua was so young yet had already bought a house and set up a shop.

After all, it’s their own son, and seeing him doing well made both Mr. Fang and Mrs. Fang very happy.

”Sure, I know some people. I’ll find someone to renovate for you when the time comes. You and Zhenzhen don’t need to worry about the renovation. I and your mother will handle it, ensuring everything goes smoothly.”

Yang Anzhen smiled, ”We’ll have to trouble you, Mom and Dad. Jianhua and I have constantly been troubling you two since we got married, and we feel a bit uneasy.”

These words warmed the hearts of Mr. and Mrs. Fang.

They had been helping the elder family for over ten years, and Zhou Chunhua had never said a nice word. They hadn’t done much for the second family, yet here they were saying such kind words. Who’s good and who’s not, everyone’s got a measure in their heart.

”We’re all one family, no need to say such things.”

Mrs. Fang poured a drink and then poured some soy milk for Yang Anzhen, ”Drink this, I heard it’s good for pregnant women.”

Yang Anzhen took a sip with a smile, and then they started talking about Ningning.

The more Mrs. Fang listened, the happier she became. Looking at Yang Anzhen’s belly, she said, ”Our grandchild is blessed with good fortune. He’s not even born yet, and his aunt has already planned everything for him. With her watching over him, he’ll be just fine.”

Yang Anzhen was quite proud, ”You’re right, Ningning has been more capable than other kids since she was little. She’s still studying now, and once she graduates, she’ll be even more impressive. When our child grows up, his aunt will definitely find a way to take good care of him.”

The four of them enjoyed this meal very much.

But while the elders were happy, there was trouble brewing in Yangjiazhuang.

It turns out Yangjiazhuang isn’t far from the town. Many people in the town know the Fang Family, and there are many relatives connected to Yangjiazhuang.

The argument between Zhou Chunhua and Mrs. Fang quickly spread.

Then many families in the town found out that Fang Jianhua bought a house and that the money for the house was borrowed from his sister-in-law.

Many people were envious, saying Fang Jianhua was lucky to have married such a good wife. Others said Yang Erchou was remarkable for having such an outstanding daughter; they asked how could things possibly go wrong in the future.

More people were astonished by Anning’s speed of earning money. After only half a year of college, she already earned over a hundred thousand. Imagine what that’ll be like in the future.

So, this matter spread from one person to ten, and from ten to a hundred, eventually reaching Yangjiazhuang.

That day, Yang Lao Mao came out of his house, found a sunny spot, and chatted with some old friends in the village.

While he was sitting there squinting in the sun, someone said, ”Hey, old brother, your family has hit it big.”

Yang Lao Mao opened his eyes, ”What’s so big?”

”Your granddaughter is amazing.”

Someone enviously said to Yang Lao Mao, ”Your little granddaughter lent her sister over a hundred thousand just for a house. Who knows how much money she still has? With someone so capable in the family, what’s there to fear in the future?”

Someone else said, ”That’s right. Anning is so capable, your Fuyu shouldn’t have any worries about getting a wife. Just a tiny bit from Anning is enough for Fugui to live comfortably.”

Yang Lao Mao was taken aback, ”What are you talking about? Hundreds of thousands?”

Someone then told Yang Lao Mao about the argument in the Fang Family, ”This was personally said by Fang Jianhua, so it can’t be false.”

Yang Lao Mao was shocked and angry, and he couldn’t sit still; he immediately went back.

When he got home, Yang Dachou was also talking about it.

Yang Dachou said to Yang Lao Mao, ”Dad, Lao Er’s family is really unreasonable. Anning has so much money, but instead of lending us some for Fuyu to get a wife, they let her buy a house for a married daughter. That house won’t be ours; it’s the Fang Family’s property.”

Yang Lao Mao thought the same thing.

Yang Dachou fanned the flames and Yang Lao Mao became angrier, ”I can’t let this go. I need to talk to Lao Er.”

Yang Lao Mao angrily headed to Yang Erchou’s home.

It happened to be a break for the window and door factory that Yang Erchou worked at, so he was home resting.

Seeing Yang Lao Mao coming, Yang Erchou quickly got up, ”Dad, you’re here, Cuihua, quickly make some tea for dad.”

Li Cuixia responded and went to make tea.

Yang Lao Mao’s expression was unpleasant, ”Forget it, I can’t afford your tea, Lao Er. I want to ask you, are you really a Yang? Are you a descendant of the Yang family?”

Yang Erchou was intrigued by his anger, ”What are you saying? If I’m not a Yang, what am I? Even if I wanted to change my surname to Ge, you’d have to agree.”

Yang Lao Mao trembled with anger, ”Are you aware that Anning bought a house for Anzhen?”

Yang Erchou nodded, ”Yes, I know. What’s the matter with Anning wanting to buy a house for her sister? They’re siblings. Anning has money and wants to help her sister; as a parent, I’m only happy. What else can I say?”

Yang Lao Mao sat down, ”That money should have been used to buy a house for Fuyu and Fugui. A house bought with it would belong to the Yang family. Buying a house for Anzhen is like gifting money to the Fang Family.”

Yang Erchou didn’t like hearing that, ”Dad, don’t tell me these things. Fuyu and Fugui are my nephews, not my sons, and certainly not Anning’s brothers. They’re cousins. Anning doesn’t owe them a house. My brother is not much older than I am and is still in his prime. If his sons want a house, he needs to provide. While Anning should be filial to her parents, there’s no rule saying she must be filial to her uncle or buy a house for her cousins.”

Yang Erchou laid out everything, leaving Yang Lao Mao speechless.

”You, you.”

Yang Lao Mao pointed at Yang Erchou, ”You heartless fool, you scatterbrained fellow. Fuyu and Fugui are the roots of our family. When you are old, they will carry your funeral banners. You think your daughters will?”

Yang Erchou truly found it amusing, ”While I’m alive, I’ll only focus on the present. Once I’m gone, I won’t care anymore. If Anzhen and Anning are filial, they can fulfill those roles for me. If they aren’t, they could cremate me and scatter my ashes in a river, and I wouldn’t see it.”

Enraged, Yang Lao Mao wanted to hit Yang Erchou.

Right then, the Old Madam returned, and seeing the situation, she picked up a broom and stood by Yang Lao Mao, ”You muddled old fool, still stubborn in such times. In this day and age, who cares so much about sons and daughters? What good has your love for your grandsons done? Have they fed or clothed you? I’m telling you now, I favor Anning, and agree that Lao Er’s family is right. Besides, we agreed from the start—I’ll be taken care of by Lao Er’s family and you by the eldest’s. It’s all clear, so what are you here for?”
