The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Yang Anzhen stayed at her parent’s house for a night, then early the next morning she went home with Fang Jianhua to look at the house with the keys.

They weren’t particularly interested in the street-facing houses; they were looking at residential homes.

Yang Erchou, Anning, and Yang Anzhen all went together.

The main reason was for Yang Erchou to withdraw money from the bank, then go to the textile factory to pay the money, and also to handle the necessary procedures.

Anning accompanied Yang Anzhen to look at the houses.

No kidding, a house for fifteen thousand dollars is truly not expensive, quite a fair price.

Each house is standalone with a private courtyard, built squarely and sturdily, though the yard is a bit small, you can build two kitchens in it, still leaving some space.

Moreover, the house consists of two rooms, but the depth is large. Upon entering, the west side is the living room, the east side has two bedrooms, there’s a bathroom at the back, the stairs are outside, and upstairs are three bedrooms with another bathroom, enough for a family.

The house is freshly painted, the utilities are all connected, the floors are cemented, and the heating pipes are installed, so if there’s no money for renovation, just install a toilet and connect the heating, and move in.

Yang Anzhen didn’t intend to do much decoration.

She was discussing with Fang Jianhua about putting down floor tiles, tidying up the doors and windows, buying some furniture, and moving in.

The couple was extremely happy, continually discussing what kind of floor tiles to use, and what kind of furniture to buy.

Anning chuckled and said, ”Why buy furniture? Our dad is handy, ask his apprentices to make a set for you, wouldn’t it be better than store-bought?”

That’s quite true.

Yang Anzhen laughed along, ”That’s right.”

Yang Erchou completed the payment and procedures, by afternoon he received the title deeds.

He, like Yang Anzhen, also bought a family courtyard and three street-facing houses.

Yang Erchou worked it out smartly; he thought that Anning would certainly stay in the Capital in the future, and they would rely on Anzhen in their old age, but Anzhen lived in the county, while they lived in Yangjiazhuang, which was inconvenient.

Better now, with some money in hand, while still capable, to buy a house near Anzhen’s, so when they’re older, they can move closer, two families so near, and the daughter and son-in-law aren’t any trouble, they will surely take care of them.

With this intention, Yang Erchou took out all the family savings and heartily bought all the houses.

Not to mention, just Yang Anzhen and her husband buying that many houses in one go, the news quickly spread in the factory.

Someone approached Fang Jianhua with questions: ”Xiao Fang, you kept quiet, didn’t expect you to have so much money, impressive! Others can’t even afford one house, yet you bought four. Tell me, did your family support you?”

Fang Jianhua’s parents are both retired workers, having saved some from working their whole lives, thus people in the factory guessed so.

Fang Jianhua quickly waved his hand: ”I didn’t ask the family elders for money; my parents aren’t even aware of this yet. It’s Anzhen’s sister who’s back, Anzhen said the factory is selling houses, we wanted to buy but lacked funds, her sister said we should buy, and whatever we lacked, she would cover. All the money was borrowed from her sister.”

His coworkers became even more curious: ”What does your sister-in-law do, to have so much money?”

Fang Jianhua straightened his back and said proudly, ”She is very capable, this year’s top scorer in the provincial exams, attending Imperial University. She’s translated books and worked as a translator for foreign visitors, earning quite a lot.”

From then, people at the factory knew Yang Anzhen’s sister was impressive.

The news soon reached Fang Jianhua’s brother and sister-in-law.

Fang Jianhua’s brother is Fang JianShe, and his sister-in-law is Zhou Chunhua.

After Fang Jianhua got married, Mr. Fang divided the family assets between the brothers.

Fang JianShe and Zhou Chunhua work in the town, one at the supply and marketing agency, the other teaching at school. The couple has yet to buy a house and have been living at their parents’ place. They wanted to buy a house but lacked funds, their family expenses were large, and they couldn’t save enough money quickly.

Upon hearing Fang Jianhua had spent over ten thousand to buy four houses, with money supposedly from Yang Anzhen’s sister, Zhou Chunhua didn’t believe it.

She thought, how much money could Yang Anning, a university student, have? It must’ve been given by Fang’s elder parents, and they said it was from Yang Anzhen’s family to cover it up.

Grumbling over this, Zhou Chunhua voiced this while going to bed.

She complained to Fang JianShe, saying the parents favor the second son’s family due to his wife’s wealthy family, lending them money to buy a house, while giving them nothing.

Fang JianShe wasn’t pleased to hear this, turned over in bed, ”Alright, stop it. Didn’t they say it was the second one’s father-in-law’s money?”

”You believe that?”

Zhou Chunhua nudged Fang JianShe, ”No way, tomorrow you ask your parents for money, we’re buying a house too. Why? Our family had a daughter, so they favor the second son’s family.”

Fang JianShe’s daughter Fang Yuling was seven or eight years old, understood everything, and took it to heart.

The next morning, during breakfast, Fang Yuling said to Mrs. Fang, ”Grandma, why did you give money to my second uncle’s family to buy a house but not us? Mom said you should give us money too; we want to buy a house.”

Mrs. Fang was happily preparing breakfast, but upon hearing this, she was so angry she nearly fainted.

She was truly infuriated by Zhou Chunhua, who was incapable yet loved stirring trouble.

At that moment, Mrs. Fang slammed the chopsticks, ”Who taught you to say this? Zhou Chunhua, come out! What evidence do you have to say we gave the second family money? My husband and I have no money, even if we had some, it was already spent for you. You live here, eat from us, and did you ever buy Yuling clothes? She didn’t have milk, and didn’t the formula cost money? How much have we spent on you these years, and the second family said nothing. Good grief, and now they’re jealous our daughter-in-law’s family bought a house, so you’re stirring trouble, right? If you have the ability, ask your mother to buy you a house!”

Zhou Chunhua was so scolded by Mrs. Fang that she didn’t dare come out from her room.

Mrs. Fang wasn’t foolish, she knew Zhou Chunhua was envious of the second family buying a house, wanting to use this opportunity to drain their resources.

Therefore, Mrs. Fang abandoned breakfast, went straight outside, and cried out on the street: ”The cursed Zhou Family, what kind of daughter have they raised, deceiving us! All these years, how much has Zhou Chunhua subsidized her family? Our eldest earns quite a bit, she has a salary too, the children are raised by our elder couple, how much could they spend? Yet they haven’t even built or renovated a house, still squeezing with us, who doesn’t know where her money went? All of it went to her family, brothers and sisters, and now they’ve drained us, wanting to empty the second family as well, for what? The second family owes them or something? The brothers separated the assets ages ago! Marrying such a wife is truly unlucky!”

Truth be spoken, Mrs. Fang really favored Yang Anzhen as a daughter-in-law.

Yang Anzhen brought $5,000 of dowry upon marrying, and anything nice the Yang Family had was given to Yang Anzhen, and most pleasing to Mrs. Fang was how successful Yang Anzhen’s sister was.

Anning is the provincial top scorer, studying at Imperial University, surely staying in the Capital after graduating; likely becoming a state official, then when Yang Anzhen’s child grows up, Anning would be quite successful, wouldn’t she care for her nephew? The Fang Family would greatly benefit.

Besides, Yang Anzhen is both filial and kind-hearted, trouble-free compared to Zhou Chunhua; naturally, Mrs. Fang favored Yang Anzhen.

She purposely shouted like this for everyone around to hear, so the eldest couldn’t pick on the second in the future.
