Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining felt that no matter what, her son had the ability to protect himself, so she wasn’t too worried. However, what she didn’t anticipate was that the secret mission Gu Xu was undertaking this time was a true S-Level Mission. Upon reaching the mission site, Gu Xu and his team engaged in fierce combat with the enemy.

This time, Gu Xu and his team secretly destroyed a secret military base that Country F had set up in the Huaxia territorial waters. Consequently, during the process, Gu Xu and his team faced the enemy directly. In the end, during the retreat, they suffered frenzied retaliation from Country F.

To cover the retreat of the main forces, Gu Xu chose to stay behind. While piloting the fighter jet near the Southern Sea territory, he was hit by a shell, and the aircraft crashed directly into the deep sea.

The news was too significant for the military committee to hide, and they immediately called the mission’s commander-in-chief, Lu Zhenghang, to report the latest situation:

”Chief, all other Falcon members have safely reached the rescue location. However... one member, to cover the main forces, piloted the fighter jet to divert the enemy’s attention. Now the jet has crashed, and we’ve lost contact with this warrior.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Zhenghang immediately frowned, instinctively asking, ”Who is the member we’ve lost contact with?”

The military committee hesitated a moment before saying, ”It’s... Falcon’s captain, Gu Xu.”

”What?!” Upon hearing this news, Lu Zhenghang was stunned, his face instantly darkening.

Not to mention Gu Xu’s identity and capability within the military committee, just the influence of the Gu Family in the Imperial Capital made Lu Zhenghang feel this matter was extremely troublesome. If anything happened to Gu Xu, the old man and the Old Granny of the Gu Family would undoubtedly hold him accountable first.

Moreover, Gu Xu’s wife had just given birth, and it was questionable if she could bear the news of Gu Xu’s accident.

Lu Zhenghang knew well the notoriety of the Gu Family’s second daughter-in-law, even his father held admiration for that girl. Moreover, Gu Xu himself had achieved countless merits over the years. Hearing such news, how could Lu Zhenghang not be angry? Almost instantly, he issued the orders:

”Immediately deploy the nearest maritime search and rescue team! If necessary, send the warships over and locate the area where Gu Xu encountered the accident. We must find him at all costs!”

After issuing the orders, Lu Zhenghang understood this was no small matter, and immediately drove to his father’s office. Though he dared to hide the situation from the Gu Family and Huo Sining, he didn’t dare to keep it from his father.

Although Lu Zhenghang was the commander-in-chief for this operation, the event was also closely monitored by his father. For some time now, he’s been reporting on the progress, everything was going smoothly until this unexpected issue arose during the evacuation. Lu Zhenghang couldn’t imagine how his father would react to this news, but he steeled himself and went to report.

Chief Lu, after having fought through wartimes, although shocked, remained relatively composed hearing Lu Zhenghang’s report on the mission’s situation, especially if you overlooked the chilling aura emanating from him.

”The Gu Family’s boy is battle-hardened and surely anticipated such situations. I don’t believe there’ll be any issue. However, Country F suffered such a huge loss this time and won’t rest. They’re probably also trying to find him, so we must find Gu Xu first by any means and prevent him from falling into Country F’s hands, otherwise...”

Lu Zhenghang understood well what Chief Lu meant. If Gu Xu fell into Country F’s hands, they would have Huaxia’s leverage and evidence. Besides enduring inhumane torture, he might have to pay with his life to prevent entangling Huaxia Country in this affair.

Chief Lu’s expression looked a bit fatigued. He instinctively closed his eyes to hide his inner worry, and after a while, coldly said:

”A while back, didn’t the Cape Military Region apply to conduct a military exercise? Notify them immediately, approve the application, and deploy their patrol warships to the area for the exercise.”

Lu Zhenghang fully understood his father’s intention to use the military exercise as a cover for the Cape Military Region’s involvement in the search and rescue operation for Gu Xu.

Still, Lu Zhenghang hesitated a bit: ”I’ve already deployed the patrol rescue team, suddenly announcing a military exercise, isn’t it inappropriate...”

It’s not entirely Lu Zhenghang’s fault for asking. It’s not that he’s unfeeling, but the Cape Military exercise involves too many complexities. The Cape Military Region holds significant sway as the sole primary military base in the entire southern border area, and every movement of its warships is closely observed by countries worldwide.

Once Chief Lu’s order is issued, there might be minimal domestic impact, but internationally, particularly among South Asian nations, conspiracy theories might erupt with all kinds of protests, condemnations, and questions.

Upon hearing Lu Zhenghang’s concerns, Chief Lu, rare in his seriousness, stated: ”It’s entirely appropriate. To become strong, it’s not just about developing the economy, but having a say is vital. Without standing firm, we’re only passively beaten. Letting the Cape Military Region’s warships show themselves isn’t harmful; it could serve as intimidation, quieting those pesky flies and mosquitos might be beneficial after all!”

Lu Zhenghang couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth, saying with a helpless smile: ”I fear, by making such a move, those flies and mosquitos might buzz even louder.”

Chief Lu understood Lu Zhenghang’s concerns but nonchalantly waved his hand, saying: ”Leave the aftermath to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs later. They ought to have some work to do, else they’d idle till they rot!”

Knowing his father’s stubbornness, Lu Zhenghang knew further persuasion was fruitless, so he nodded and prepared to order the Cape Military Region as instructed. Chief Lu suddenly stopped him, hesitated briefly, then said:

”Communicate this matter with the Gu Family. The girl Huo is still in confinement, right? For now, don’t let her know.”

Chief Lu waved to indicate Lu Zhenghang could leave. However, as Lu Zhenghang closed the door, he still heard his father let out a heavy sigh.
