Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining saw Yingzi walk in and suddenly realized something, smiling as she said, ”You’re back. Was everything smooth today?”

Yingzi nodded, her gaze sweeping over Huo Sining before landing on her abdomen.

After delivering that mysterious egg, Huo Sining’s abdomen was noticeably smaller than it was in the morning. So, after returning to the bedroom, she changed into looser clothing, making her stomach look normal.

As expected, although Yingzi found Huo Sining’s stomach somewhat strange, she didn’t think much of it. Seeing Huo Sining’s usual demeanor, she relaxed and, after reporting on the day’s events, left.

Only then did Huo Sining finally breathe a sigh of relief.

In this house, Yingzi is the most perceptive of them all; she was most afraid that Yingzi would notice something. Now that Yingzi was satisfied, it would be easier to fool everyone else.

A tense week passed, and only then did both Huo Sining and Gu Xu’s nerves finally relax.

No one suspected anything unusual about Huo Sining’s stomach. Even the cook just wondered if she had lost weight and kept making all sorts of delicious food for her.

On reflection, it made sense. No matter how imaginative one might be, who would ever think that a twin pregnancy would allow one to deliver one baby, and then a few months later, deliver another?

This defies the laws of nature. If Huo Sining were to say it out loud, people would likely think she was crazy.

Besides, what she delivered was an egg!

The precious egg seemed to love playing hide and seek, especially with Niuniu. However, it was smart and subtly aware of the odd smells of Yingzi and the cook. So whenever they appeared, the egg would cautiously hide itself, ensuring neither saw it.

Therefore, the egg had been in the villa for over a half-month without even Yingzi, who used to be a scout, noticing it.

Even Huo Sining had to admire it. It seemed this little thing was smarter and more resourceful than she had thought.

With the current crisis resolved, Huo Sining could finally settle down and seriously start nurturing her pregnancy.

She had already used the Heavenly Eye to examine herself; the one remaining in her belly was a daughter.

Whether it was a son or a daughter, Huo Sining didn’t have strong feelings, but it was clear Gu Xu preferred a daughter. He didn’t feel much for the egg that was born.

Although Gu Xu occasionally asked Huo Sining when the egg would hatch, to him, even if it did, the son should be raised roughly, ideally being sent to a training camp at a young age to experience army life.

But daughters were different. From the moment his wife was confirmed pregnant, Gu Xu had already set up a nursery for their daughter. Not only that, he frantically sought unusual and fun toys that girls like, dedicating himself entirely to this unborn daughter.

At work, the always cold and decisive Mr. Gu, at home, lay on Huo Sining’s belly, listening for the daughter’s movements, reading fairy tales to their child. Sometimes, fetal movements excited him more than they excited Huo Sining.

Seeing Gu Xu transformed into a doting father, Huo Sining could already foresee that the child she was carrying was most likely a lover from Mr. Gu’s past life!

At the end of May, as Huo Sining was idly nurturing her pregnancy, considering whether to find some entertainment, new diversion unexpectedly found her.

Because the Imperial Capital suddenly cooled down, first with a heavy rainstorm and gale-force winds, followed by suddenly unannounced hailstones the size of soybeans, this bizarre weather set many people online abuzz with discussion.

Soon after, some farmers took to the internet, lamenting and complaining about the freak weather, claiming that the sudden hail had destroyed their crops, preventing them from earning an income and instead landing them in debt.

Upon seeing these news stories, people tagged her on Weibo, suggesting that with her Beauty Fund having so much money, if possible, she should step in to help these farmers through their difficult times.

This wasn’t the first time Huo Sining had encountered such things, and she didn’t feel it was of much concern to her. While she sympathized with these farmers, natural disasters couldn’t be avoided. The government would step in to aid these farmers. Besides, at the foundation’s inception, she had clearly defined its objectives—to only aid disabled children and students unable to afford university—so she didn’t plan on getting involved.

Huo Sining thought the hail matter would simply pass, but it turned out that later that evening, Liao Song called her.

At first, Huo Sining was puzzled. Why would Liao Song call her? Could there be a problem with the store in Fuzhou?

However, when she answered, she heard Liao Song’s excited shout on the other end:

”Miss Huo, you’ve really helped me out big this time! I...I really don’t know how to thank you enough!”

Huo Sining was stunned, her mind racing, unable to recall what she could have done to make Liao Song say such a thing:

”No, your words don’t add up. I don’t understand what’s going on. I’ve been nurturing my pregnancy recently, and don’t think I’ve helped you out. Did you have too much to drink and muddle your thoughts?”

Liao Song hurriedly explained, ”No, Miss Huo, there’s no mistake. It’s all thanks to the special fertilizer you got from Chen Qiankun and Professor Yan Xuesong. You have no idea; this fertilizer has done wonders!”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining paused and quickly asked, ”You’re confusing me. What’s the story? How did the fertilizer work wonders?”

Liao Song immediately explained, ”Wasn’t there a hailstorm at dawn in the Imperial Capital? You wouldn’t believe it, but the hail devastated the old walnut trees in Fangshan Village. I’ve heard that many families’ walnut trees had already set fruit, but when the hailstones fell, most walnuts got knocked off, barely leaving any good ones on the trees!”

”But, my cousin Xiao Shan called and said a few families’ walnut trees were exceptions, specifically the six families I’ve been working with. Their walnut trees’ fruits were strong and sturdy, and they withstood the hailstorm. Not many nuts fell, and the rest are all still hanging well on the trees!”

”Not just those six families’ walnut trees, but my cousin’s over a dozen walnut trees in the back mountain were also fine. The fruit set rate was at least several times higher than last year, and the walnuts are growing exceptional. It’s clearly a direct result of being modified by that special fertilizer!”
