Reborn As Super Heiress

In the afternoon, Huo Sining received a call from Guo Dongliang. Half of the jade roughs she had picked had already been cut, and each one revealed jadeite.

Although the jadeite materials varied in size and quality, Guo Dongliang was still very excited and mentioned that he had already called a few jade merchants. One merchant, in particular, was very interested and promised to drive over to the Xicheng District soon to take a look.

Huo Sining had anticipated this result, so she wasn’t surprised. However, she still asked out of curiosity:

”Who is the jade merchant coming to look at the materials later?”

Guo Dongliang laughed and said, ”It’s a boss with the surname Zhong, he said he has a store in Fuzhou.”

Huo Sining paused, then smiled: ”Zhong Zifan, right? You don’t have to play any tricks with him. Just give him the exact price; he won’t haggle much. He’s a friend of mine, so rest assured; his character is solid!”

With these words from Huo Sining, Guo Dongliang felt relieved. ”Okay, I got it. Thank you, Miss Huo.”

Huo Sining laughed and said, ”It’s just a small favor. By the way, tell Boss Zhong that after he’s done, I’ll treat him to a meal at Mei Yuan.”

Guo Dongliang was a bit surprised. He initially thought Huo Sining’s mention of Boss Zhong as a friend was just a polite remark, but it seemed they indeed had a good relationship.

”Oh, sure, I’ll definitely pass on the message for you.”

After hanging up, Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile.

She hadn’t expected Zhong Zifan would come to the Imperial Capital. She had been so busy lately that she’d forgotten to keep in touch with Zhong Zifan and Liao Song. She had no idea how their store was doing.

At around four in the afternoon, Zhong Zifan indeed called Huo Sining.

Originally intending to invite him to Mei Yuan for dinner, Zhong Zifan politely declined, having already learned about Huo Sining’s pregnancy from the media:

”You’re pregnant and it’s inconvenient for you to go out. Since Liao Song and I are in the Imperial Capital today, how about we come over to your place? We haven’t had a chance to visit your new home since you got married.”

Huo Sining laughed at his suggestion: ”Sure, I’ll wait for you two to come over. Since we’re not going to Mei Yuan, let’s just have a simple meal at my place. I managed to get some top-quality abalone and fish maw. I’ll treat you to homemade ’Buddha Jumps Over the Wall’!”

Zhong Zifan couldn’t help but say, ”That’s a promise then — double-headed abalone with ten-year fish maw. I’ve tasted your cooking before, so make sure you personally oversee this Buddha Jumps Over the Wall!”

”Of course, I’ll make it myself, okay? Just wrap up your stuff and come over soon. I’ll send you the address.”

A little after six in the evening, Gu Xu came back. He was surprised to find out that Zhong Zifan and Liao Song were coming, so he curiously asked a few questions. Huo Sining wasn’t sure why they suddenly decided to visit the Imperial Capital, but she didn’t pry.

At around seven, Guo Dongliang called Huo Sining to inform her that all the materials were sold for a higher price than she expected, totaling six hundred and seventy thousand.

Huo Sining knew well that the market value of those materials was about seven hundred thousand. Zhong Zifan and Liao Song, recognizing her connection, had given Guo Dongliang a fair price. If it had been other jade merchants, they would definitely have lowered the price by about half, and getting fifty thousand would’ve been considered lucky.

Sixty-seven thousand may not be much to jade merchants, but to Guo Dongliang, it was a significant sum, enough to keep his team of officers excited for a while.

Based on her recent observations and understanding of Guo Dongliang, she believed he was not the kind to embezzle money. She trusted that the money in his hands would be well spent.

Guo Dongliang was sensible and knew that Huo Sining had a dinner date with Zhong Zifan and Liao Song. Therefore, he didn’t try to impose by inviting himself. Instead, he took Lin Wenya and Master Li to a high-end restaurant and had a good meal. Before leaving, he even gave Master Li a five-thousand bonus.

The matter of this bonus was something Huo Sining heard from Master Li the next day. She wasn’t the type of boss to be strict about staff accepting tips. After all, as per the norms of stone gambling, if there’s a profit, the Stone Solver Master should get a tip. What Guo Dongliang did was nothing but reasonable.

”Just accept it as your due share; there’s no need to feel burdened!”

Seeing Master Li looking worried as if he’d done something wrong, Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile and reassure him.

Master Li was overjoyed. He didn’t expect to receive such a high tip on his first day, something unprecedented in his career, which made him even more hopeful about this job, eagerly anticipating more rough stones to solve in the future.

Of course, what Huo Sining didn’t tell him was that his expectations were destined for disappointment.

At least until Huo Sining gave birth, there wouldn’t be a large supply of rough materials at the store.

Back to the topic of Zhong Zifan and Liao Song visiting Huo Sining, after buying those jadeite roughs from Guo Dongliang, they hurried to Huo Sining’s new villa.

Although they had heard about Huo Sining’s pregnancy, they were still surprised to suddenly see her with a belly as big as a ball.

”Are you having twins? It’s only been a few months, and your belly is already this big?”

Huo Sining smiled without saying a word. After dinner, as they sat in the living room ready to chat, Huo Sining noticed Liao Song fidgeting with a pair of shiny, purplish-red spherical objects, one hand constantly turning them, producing a crisp clinking sound like jade.

Her curiosity piqued, it took Huo Sining several seconds to realize that Liao Song was playing with a pair of walnuts.

These walnuts weren’t for eating; they were for collecting.

In the Imperial Capital and Tianjin, the trend of playing with walnuts had persisted for years. Huo Sining had often seen older men in the Antique Street, leisurely playing with walnuts and strolling with birds, very comfortably.

However, since Liao Song was from the Magic Capital, she’d never seen him play with walnuts before, making her both curious and astonished.
