Reborn As Super Heiress

After playing with Xiao Yao for a while, little Gu Chengxuan finally lifted his head and looked at Huo Sining with a somewhat dissatisfied expression:

”Auntie, why is my little sister so ugly? The babies I see on TV are all fair and chubby, way better-looking than her.”

Huo Sining froze for a moment, then burst out laughing: ”Your sister was just born. Newborn babies all look like this—wrinkly and red. You have to wait a bit. Once she fills out, she’ll look fine.”

Gu Chengxuan wrinkled his nose, still looking a bit skeptical and unconvinced: ”Really?”

Huo Sining couldn’t resist teasing him: ”What, Tuan Tuan thinks his little sister isn’t good-looking and is disgusted by her? So if your sister grows up ugly, you won’t like her and won’t protect her anymore?”

As soon as Gu Chengxuan heard that, he immediately puffed out his chest and hurried to argue: ”No way! I’m the little man of the Gu Family. No matter what my sister grows up to look like, I’ll always be her big brother. I’ll be the one to protect her from now on. Auntie, don’t worry, I definitely won’t let anyone hurt her!”

Huo Sining couldn’t help being amused when she heard that. She really hadn’t seen it before, but this little guy had quite the aura. Deserving of being her big brother’s son—so young and already putting on a righteous, iron-boned, stand-tall look!

Huo Sining couldn’t help reaching out to rub the little guy’s head. She nodded and said, ”Then thank you. In the future, if Auntie can’t manage to look after Yuanyuan in some places, you help Auntie keep an eye on her more.”

Gu Chengxuan nodded like a pecking chick, and even thumped his not-so-firm chest, making both Huo Sining and Chen Yu laugh non-stop.

However, after he made his promise to Huo Sining, the little guy suddenly seemed to think of something. He jerked his head up and looked at Huo Sining, a bit uneasy and a bit gloomy:

”Auntie, now that you have my little sister, does that mean you’ll only like her and won’t like Tuan Tuan anymore?”

The little guy’s face was full of conflicted struggle, like he wanted to be jealous of his sister but also felt that being jealous was wrong. His brows were knitted as if he were pondering some major life problem.

Huo Sining was stunned when she heard this: ”How could that be? Auntie likes Tuan Tuan too, and will love you both the same. Who told Tuan Tuan that?”

Gu Chengxuan’s eyes instantly lit up. He suddenly lifted his head and looked at Huo Sining in surprise: ”Really? Then will Auntie still make that tasty cookie you made last time for Chengxuan? Grandma said that now you have my sister, you’ll have to take care of her and won’t have time to make those cookies anymore!”

Huo Sining froze, then understood the next second.

So this little guy wasn’t hung up on her having a kid and not spoiling him anymore; he was worried he’d never get to eat those cookies again.

Huo Sining felt both exasperated and amused. Even Chen Yu at the side couldn’t help the corner of her mouth twitching, feeling embarrassed by how unpromising her son was.

Huo Sining actually fully understood why Gu Chengxuan couldn’t forget those cookies. She often made treats for Heitan and the fish they kept at home, especially baked cookies and such. Since she mixed a small amount of Spiritual Energy into the cookies, Heitan and those fish loved eating them.

Once, when she was baking, it happened that Gu Chengxuan came over to the house. He smelled the fragrance of the cookies and was instantly craving them, clamoring to eat some.

Huo Sining had no choice but to specifically bake a whole box of cookies for the little guy.

As a result, once this kid tasted them, he got hooked. Those cookies were tempting enough to make Heitan, the Tibetan Mastiff King, give up meat for veggies. From that alone, you could see just how irresistible the cookies Huo Sining made were, so it didn’t strike her as strange at all that Gu Chengxuan loved them.

It was just that, after the little guy fell in love with those cookies, Chen Yu scoured the market and bought him all kinds of cookie brands. But Gu Chengxuan would take one bite and throw them away, insisting they weren’t the same taste, that the store-bought cookies weren’t as good as the ones Auntie made.

Ever since then, this little guy completely latched onto Huo Sining. Every time he wanted to eat cookies, he would call her.

Now that Huo Sining had had a baby, the little guy wasn’t trying to compete for affection—he was worried that he’d never again get to eat those delicious cookies.

Huo Sining was rather speechless. In the end, not wanting to disappoint the child, she quickly promised: ”If you protect your sister well, Auntie will keep making them for you. Don’t just talk about cookies—whatever you want to eat, Auntie will figure out a way to make it for you.”

”Really?” The little guy’s big, dewy eyes stared fixedly at Huo Sining, as if he were afraid she might lie to him.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but chuckle: ”When has Auntie ever lied to you?”

The little guy tilted his head and thought about it. He also felt that what she said was true; Auntie wasn’t the kind of person who went back on her word. But he still didn’t feel at ease, so he hurriedly stuck out a small pinky and said, ”Then Auntie, hook pinkies with me!”

Following his lead, Huo Sining hooked pinkies with the little guy. After they finished chanting ”Hook pinky, hang it high, no change for a hundred years,” the stone hanging in his little heart finally fell back into his stomach.

To them, it was nothing more than some childish fun. Neither Huo Sining nor Chen Yu took it to heart. The adults laughed it off and forgot. None of them expected that this extremely childish pinky swear would be deeply branded into Gu Chengxuan’s heart, marking the start of our classmate Tuan Tuan’s long journey as a budding siscon.

That night, Yue Shuwen and Zhong Xiaoyao also came to the ward to keep watch. After hearing from Huo Sining that the precious egg was with Gu Xu, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

In fact, these last few days, Yue Shuwen and Zhong Xiaoyao had been quietly asking around and searching in private for the whereabouts of the precious egg. But because Gu Chengmiao’s situation was special, no one dared to make a big fuss searching high and low, so the outcome was, of course, obvious.

They couldn’t find him, and Yue Shuwen and the others hadn’t slept well for several nights in a row. Adding to that, Huo Sining had been unconscious, which only made them worry even more. Even the little ones, Qibao and Niuniu, lost all interest in playing and devoted themselves to the ”search for the precious egg” army.

Now that they knew Gu Chengmiao was fine, everyone could finally relax their taut nerves a bit.

Yue Shuwen and the others crowded around little Yuanyuan, each of them squeezing their heads to the side of the baby’s bed, staring curiously at the little one in a daze.

”That precious egg was already crazy powerful before he even hatched, but this one is completely no different from a normal person. Ningning, the genes in your Gu Xu are seriously something. One pregnancy, two babies, and one’s a Jiaoren and one’s human. The key thing is that they don’t hold each other back. This ’one shot, two birds’ skill isn’t something just anyone can pull off!”

After checking carefully and confirming that this Xiao Yao really was just a normal person with no Jiaoren traits, Yue Shuwen couldn’t resist teasing.

Huo Sining was also quite curious about this situation, but there really weren’t any reference cases for something like this. Still, when she thought of Gu Xu’s identity as Yun Xuzi, Huo Sining felt that such a situation wasn’t exactly incomprehensible.

After all, this guy had once been a legendary figure of Buzhou Mountain, a cultivator with a Spiritual Root Immortal Bone, definitely not the same as an ordinary person. Maybe this Xiao Yao might even inherit some of her father’s talents someday.
