Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining has always been the kind of person who acts on her impulses. As soon as the idea popped into her head, she unwaveringly infused a surge of Spiritual Energy into the main trunk of the old walnut tree.

The Spiritual Energy extended along the main trunk to each node of the entire tree, slowly permeating every flower, whether they were already blooming or just buds.

This exploration indeed unearthed some problems.

The flowers on the branches of walnuts that haven’t reached their mature age generally have defects. It’s either the pollen that’s the issue, or the ovary of the flowers is damaged. Huo Sining doesn’t understand the reasons behind these problems, but it’s certain that the low fruit set rate and poor quality of the fruits from these young walnut trees are due to issues with the flowers.

Having reached this conclusion, Huo Sining felt more confident.

If it were purely a physiological reason, whereby without reaching mature age these walnut trees couldn’t produce good fruits, then Huo Sining would truly be at a loss. The most she could do was artificially hasten maturation, but to suddenly transform a five-year-old tree to a ten or even fifteen-year-old one is too much of a leap, which simply can’t be done quickly.

However, if the problem lies in pathological defects in the flowers, this is incredibly simple for Huo Sining.

So she didn’t hesitate at all, directly increasing the amount of Spiritual Energy, distributing it entirely among each flower on those branches.

Upon receiving the Spiritual Energy’s restorative cleanse, these flowers regained vitality almost instantly. Naturally, during this process, Huo Sining controlled the quantity and degree of the Spiritual Energy, ensuring that the walnut tree didn’t suddenly bloom all over.

She feared going overboard, straying beyond natural phenomena, allowing Liao Song and Zhong Zifan nearby to detect something amiss.

Thus, she discreetly went about it, leaving the flowers seemingly unchanged—they bloomed or remained closed as before, without any dramatic alteration due to the Spiritual Energy infusion.

Nowadays, Huo Sining’s Spiritual Energy is exceedingly abundant, so depleting a little doesn’t affect her. Thus, after inspecting these dozen walnut trees, she remained calm and indifferent, appearing genuinely interested in these walnut trees.

Liao Song and Zhong Zifan didn’t notice anything peculiar; they still seemed to be pondering strategies, looking rather troubled. However, it was Xiao Shan, always beside Liao Song, who seemed somewhat puzzled after seeing Huo Sining touch every walnut tree.

Having spent nearly an hour on the hillside, Xiao Shan’s phone suddenly rang. After checking the caller ID, he lifted his head to address Liao Song:

”My mom’s calling; I guess it’s time for lunch. Let’s head down, and we’ll discuss this after eating!”

Liao Song and Zhong Zifan, seeing this, could only nod helplessly, and the group started heading back down the hill.

Unexpectedly, after traversing more than ten steps on the stairs, Xiao Shan suddenly turned around and looked back at the dozen walnut trees, an expression of confusion and surprise flashing in his eyes.

Liao Song noticed the unusual look on his cousin’s face and couldn’t help but ask, ”Brother, what’s wrong?”

Xiao Shan glanced back at the walnut grove again, then awkwardly rubbed his nose, saying:

”I wonder if it’s just my imagination, but I feel like the flowers on these walnut trees are brighter today, and the fragrance is more intense than yesterday. But when I came up here to feed the chickens this morning, I didn’t notice anything like this.”

Upon hearing this, Liao Song couldn’t help but chuckle, ”What’s strange about that? The midday sun is shining directly; naturally, the fragrance is stronger. Plus, the flowers naturally bloom differently each day; this is normal.”

Xiao Shan shook his head, wanting to say something, but he simply couldn’t explain.

He felt something was off, yet couldn’t articulate it.

Huo Sining hadn’t expected Xiao Shan’s intuition to be so sharp, which startled her a bit. However, she quickly reassured herself.

It appeared Xiao Shan merely sensed something vaguely but hadn’t thought it through or connected the subtle changes in the walnut trees to her actions.

Upon descending the hill and returning to the Xiao Family’s courtyard, Madam Xiao had lunch prepared. Though she called it lunch, it was actually just zhajiang noodles, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and a large pot braised fish. Simple, yet it smelled quite tempting.

”You all came without giving me a heads-up; Shan didn’t mention this either. I haven’t prepared many ingredients at home, so I just cobbled together a meal. Don’t disdain my cooking!” Madam Xiao laughed.

Liao Song and the others promptly sat down, courteously saying, ”Nonsense! We should be apologizing for the inconvenience, crashing in like this and troubling you so much. We’re easy-going people; having something to eat is wonderful enough. Besides, the noodles look delicious; we rarely get to eat such authentic zhajiang noodles here in Beijing.”

Upon hearing Liao Song’s words, Madam Xiao’s eyes narrowed in a smile, gently poking Liao Song’s forehead, saying:

”You always know what to say; how could your aunt not know you? You’ve taken after your dad since childhood, with your sweet-talking mouth.”

Xiao Shan couldn’t help but chime in, ”Though you’re right about one thing, little brother: my mom’s zhajiang noodles are a village specialty, recognized throughout Fangshan as the best tasting. A food TV crew even came to record a video of my mom making zhajiang noodles. If you don’t believe me, try it! You’re guaranteed to want more after tasting it!”

Everybody was slightly surprised upon hearing this and promptly picked up their bowls to try the noodles.

Tasting it, even Huo Sining was surprised—Xiao Shan’s words weren’t an exaggeration; Madam Xiao’s zhajiang noodles indeed tasted exceptionally good, more authentic than those Huo Sining tasted in the Imperial Capital.

”Well? Didn’t I tell the truth?” Xiao Shan asked in satisfaction, seeing the expressions of everyone after they tried his mother’s noodles.

None of the people gathered around the table responded to Xiao Shan; instead, they bowed their heads, constantly stuffing noodles into their mouths.

Such a gesture adequately answered Xiao Shan’s question, and Madam Xiao, on the side, also smiled happily.

After lunch, Xiao Shan looked rather troubled when he gazed at Liao Song: ”Little brother, today I’m truly sorry, you see the mess...”

Liao Song, feeling a bit dejected but knowing it wasn’t his cousin’s fault, prepared to comfort Xiao Shan. But at that moment, Huo Sining suddenly spoke:

”Actually, coming here today wasn’t entirely fruitless.”
