Reborn As Super Heiress

”What did you say? How come we suddenly can’t reach them for no reason?”

Wang Zhongwei reported the situation to Ma Liwen. As soon as Ma Liwen heard it, he sensed something was wrong. His expression turned grim, and he urgently pressed for more information.

Wang Zhongwei also wasn’t sure what was happening, but he redialed the phone numbers of those Henan vendors in front of Ma Liwen, only to find that without exception, their phones were either disconnected or unreachable.

Both of them had some experience and knowledge, and immediately sensed something fishy upon encountering such a situation. Without hesitation, Ma Liwen signaled Wang Zhongwei to call Zhong Yuejin.

Zhong Yuejin was on vacation in Sanya at that time. When he received Wang Zhongwei’s call, he thought it was an invitation for dinner or something, as he had helped them a lot. So, once he picked up the call, he eagerly began to boast about his contributions:

”Zhongwei, I’m in Sanya now. Did you call me to treat me to a meal? Haha, no need for thanks; just treat me to a big meal when I get back.”

Hearing these words from Zhong Yuejin, Wang Zhongwei was taken aback. It seemed like Zhong Yuejin still didn’t realize the gravity of the situation. He let out a cold laugh and said:

”A meal, you say? You’ve really helped me out this time. Where did you find those Henan guys? Do you even know them?”

Zhong Yuejin could feel something was off this time, and his smile faded. He pushed aside a beach beauty and walked straight to a quiet place: ”What’s going on? Why are you so angry? What did those Henan bosses do to offend you?”

Wang Zhongwei’s face turned grim: ”Offend? I wish they had only offended us; damn it, we can’t even reach them now!”

Zhong Yuejin was dumbfounded: ”What did you say? Can’t reach them? How is that possible? Did you make a mistake?”

Wang Zhongwei really hoped it was a mistake: ”If you don’t believe me, try it yourself!”

Zhong Yuejin, not believing it, quickly took out another phone and dialed one of the Henan boss’s numbers.

Businessmen usually don’t have just one phone, and neither did Zhong Yuejin. He didn’t hang up on Wang Zhongwei’s call, so Wang Zhongwei quickly heard a busy signal from the phone.

”See, isn’t it just like I said? That group of Henan guys is up to something!” Wang Zhongwei was truly furious.

Zhong Yuejin’s face also turned pale, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He awkwardly said, ”That was just one call; it might be a coincidence. I’ve known those bosses for several years, we even went to Myanmar together in the early days for raw materials; it’s not just a one-time deal with them, they’re not like that!”

While defending those bosses, Zhong Yuejin dialed another number.

Disconnected, out of service, busy tone...

Zhong Yuejin tried all the bosses’ numbers, and the result was the same as what Wang Zhongwei had said; he couldn’t reach any of them.

”These are the reliable walnut vendors you talked about? Damn, these Henan guys must be in cahoots to scam me, right?”

Hearing the voice from the other end, Wang Zhongwei was about to explode. If Zhong Yuejin had been in front of him, he couldn’t guarantee he wouldn’t have rushed to beat him up in anger.

Zhong Yuejin also felt he had screwed up despite good intentions but still didn’t want to admit it. He defensively said:

”There might be a special reason; maybe they’re all having dinner somewhere now and the signal there is bad. You went with me to those bosses’ hometowns, you saw the walnut orchards, the physical goods are there. Just because they’re missing doesn’t mean they uproot the trees, right? And you’ve signed contracts, are you afraid they’ll breach the contract?”

Hearing this, Wang Zhongwei suddenly felt he might have overreacted. After all, they had signed a contract, and this year’s batch of walnuts was definitely theirs. Even if those Henan guys were foolish, they wouldn’t cut or uproot the walnut trees themselves. As long as the trees remained, they weren’t worried about not getting the goods from these people.

Thinking this, Wang Zhongwei’s face improved significantly.

However, his good mood didn’t last long, as Ma Liwen received a call just a few minutes later. Instantly, Ma Liwen’s face darkened, and he looked at Wang Zhongwei with a gaze so dark it could almost seep water.

”What’s wrong?” Seeing Ma Liwen’s expression, Wang Zhongwei panicked a little and urgently asked.

Ma Liwen picked up his tea cup, took a sip, but couldn’t control the raging fire inside him. He abruptly smashed the tea cup on the ground.

”Damn it! I just had someone check them; all their ID cards are fake. These people don’t even exist, and the walnut orchard isn’t theirs; we’ve been tricked!”

Upon hearing this, Wang Zhongwei’s eyes widened in disbelief: ”What did you say?! How is that possible?”

Ma Liwen trembled with rage: ”Why not possible? That walnut orchard is owned by the Kyoto Research Institute, and it’s research material, not for sale. When we went there, those people were just putting on an act with some locals, and we were too eager. Plus, with Zhong Yuejin meddling, I let my guard down and didn’t bother to verify. We really fell into a trap!”

Wang Zhongwei was devastated; he had already lost millions in Fangshan Village before, and now they were scammed for millions again. How could he bear such a blow? All his hard work for a lifetime, directly erased!

Moreover, since they thought they had a stable supply, he and Ma Liwen had been selling antique walnuts everywhere, signing pre-sale orders with many people. Now those Henan guys ran away, their contract turned void, their supply was gone, how could they fulfill their promises to these clients?

If come September they couldn’t deliver these high-quality antique walnuts, clients with prepaid orders wouldn’t get the products. Then it wouldn’t just be about compensating liquidated damages, but they might lose their customer base and reputation due to breach of trust. With their reputation ruined, it would be a dream to expand their market share in Fuzhou again.

Thinking of all these repercussions, Wang Zhongwei went mad. His eyes were bloodshot, furious with those Henan guys for setting him and Ma Liwen up to scam money. On the other hand, he blamed this turn of events on the intermediary, Zhong Yuejin.
