Reborn As Super Heiress

Wang Zhongwei was subtly inquiring about the special fertilizer, even trying to get the two professors to sell him some.

Both Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun were seasoned individuals, and having dealt with Huo Sining before, they vividly remembered the time when Huo Sining saved the Old Golden Osmanthus, so they knew a fair bit about Huo Sining.

Regarding the research projects Wang Zhongwei mentioned and the special fertilizer, Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun were well aware that they had never engaged in such research, let alone had any fertilizer samples to provide.

However, these two were not fools. Since Wang Zhongwei had come to ask about it, it indicated that the rumor wasn’t baseless, and there might be some truth to it.

But this special fertilizer was most likely concocted by Huo Sining herself, using their names as a front, which was just a cover.

Of course, Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun did not point this out. First, they were suspicious of Wang Zhongwei’s motives, and secondly, they knew that Huo Sining usually acted with integrity. The fact that she was using their names suggested that there were other issues involved, forcing her to borrow their reputation.

They had witnessed Huo Sining’s skills firsthand, so they trusted her deeply and were keen on protecting her, even though she wasn’t from their department, it didn’t stop Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun from being protective.

Moreover, this matter didn’t negatively impact them, so Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun were willing to help cover for Huo Sining a bit.

Thus, when Wang Zhongwei was probing, the two professors didn’t reveal any clues, leaving Wang Zhongwei completely in the dark, ending up with nothing by the time the dinner ended, achieving no clear understanding.

Meanwhile, Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun managed to extract quite a bit of information from Wang Zhongwei, and after discussing it at home, they immediately got Huo Sining’s phone number from Qin Shaoyou and directly dialed her.

Huo Sining had anticipated that after discovering she was using their names for her actions, Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun would call her to demand an explanation, but she hadn’t expected it to be so soon.

Upon hearing that the professors didn’t sound upset, Huo Sining breathed a sigh of relief, and with a smile, she explained her grievances with Ma Liwen, and recounted the situation when she and Liao Song went to Fangshan Village to purchase walnuts.

”I was just helping a friend, but the villagers had prejudices against young people. If I really said that the main root of the tree was severed, they wouldn’t believe me. Even if they dug up the roots to check, they might still suspect I was the one who cut the main root!”

Huo Sining chuckled dryly, ”So I just borrowed your names to throw a little weight around outside.”

Yan Xuesong knew about Huo Sining’s capabilities. At that time, the Old Golden Osmanthus owned by Boss Zhao of Guose Tianxiang had dead roots, and when they sought his help, he had no solution. Ultimately, it was this girl who stepped up, claiming her friend could save it.

Later, after a few of Chen Qiankun’s ancient tea trees were also taken by this little girl, Yan Xuesong realized that she was actually feigning weakness, fooling both him and Chen Qiankun, who were both old foxes.

It was precisely because of these incidents that made Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun understand, this young girl’s ability to revive the Old Golden Osmanthus indicated she had some unusual skills. So now when she said it was her who treated the walnut tree whose main root was severed, Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun had no doubts whatsoever.

However, not having doubts didn’t mean letting Huo Sining off the hook entirely. Although they understood there was a good reason for Huo Sining to use their names, it wasn’t every day they got leverage on this girl, so they couldn’t let this chance to regain footing slip away.

Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun exchanged a glance and both old foxes shared a mischievous grin.

”Ahem, hearing it from you, it indeed sounds justified, but given that both of us are professors of dean level at S University, our appearance fee is quite high. You used our brand for free, and this cannot just slide!”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining immediately understood that the professors’ purported intent to hold her accountable was just a guise; they were really looking to capitalize on the situation for some benefits.

Feeling a bit speechless, Huo Sining knew she was in the wrong initially, and so if they wanted to settle accounts, she really couldn’t refuse.

She somewhat helplessly said, ”Alright then, Professor Yan, you tell me how should this be addressed. If there’s anything you need from me, just let me know!”

Yan Xuesong was waiting for Huo Sining to say this. The phone was on speaker, and Chen Qiankun on the other side was equally excited, making various gestures to remind Yan Xuesong.

Yan Xuesong coughed a few more times before continuing, ”Since you sincerely want to apologize, then I won’t beat around the bush with you. Here’s the thing, our college recently received an invitation from Yun Province, inviting us to participate in the triennial International Orchid Appreciation and Exchange Conference.”

”While both I and Professor Chen grow orchids, in this regard, we are merely average. In the national context, we are passable, let alone on an international stage.”

”I previously heard from Professor Xie that you once cultivated some top-quality orchids, even gifting them to Mrs. Su. So the other day, Professor Chen and I purposely visited Secretary Su’s home to see the orchids you gifted to Mrs. Su.”

”The orchids are incredibly well-raised, but Mrs. Su is reluctant to sell them to us, so Professor Chen and I wanted to ask if you still have any other orchids, the more exquisite and rare, the better. You are a pro in this field, this shouldn’t be a tough task for you, right?”

Huo Sining didn’t expect the professors’ scheme to be like this and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Truth be told, she wasn’t very knowledgeable about orchids. The top-quality orchids she once cultivated were purely created with spiritual energy, hence she nonchalantly gifted them to Huang Hongying without feeling any regret.

But judging by what Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun were suggesting, since this represented S University, the orchids presented could not be subpar. Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be a disgrace to Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun, but to the entire S University.

Curious, Huo Sining couldn’t help but ask, ”Professors, I understand your point, but I want to ask, what is our university’s goal regarding this International Orchid Appreciation Conference? What level do you hope to achieve? Also, could you tell me roughly what caliber of orchids would receive such recognition, so I know how to assist you.”
