Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 537: Chapter 534: The Crazy Old Man

Huo Sining was selecting materials with great interest from the pile at the old site when she suddenly touched a good piece.

A hint of surprise flashed in Huo Sining’s eyes, and she reached to pick up that piece of material.

Just then, a pair of withered hands stretched out towards her, snatching the rough jade from Huo Sining’s hands and clutching it close to his chest.

Huo Sining’s face immediately darkened, thinking she had encountered someone cutting in line, she fiercely turned her head to glare coldly at the person, only to see an unkempt old man in tattered clothes.

The old man was about seventy years old, his hair already white, his body so thin that only bones seemed to remain, but his eyes were fixated on Huo Sining with a mad hatred and intense perseverance shimmering within.

Huo Sining was taken aback for a moment. Seeing the old man’s condition, she felt something odd and could only ask politely,

”Old man, I was the first to take interest in this material. Even if you don’t understand the rules of the gambling stone industry, you should have some courtesy, right? It’s rather laughable for an elder to bully a junior like this.”

The old man’s face didn’t show any change after hearing this, still staring intently at Huo Sining, as if he had a grudge against her,

”This piece is not for sale! I won’t sell my rough jade to a woman!”

Huo Sining felt somewhat aggrieved. How could she have encountered such a difficult character just when she had finally found a good item?

Just as she was preparing to continue arguing with this person, a middle-aged man who appeared to be the shop owner came into the yard with a basin of clear water. Seeing Huo Sining in a standoff with the old man, he was taken aback.

The middle-aged man hurriedly set down the basin of water and rushed over, ”Hey, you, Jiang the Madman, when did you sneak into the store? If you scare the customers, I’ll be upset. Go find Er Niu to play with and stop causing trouble here!”

Hearing the man’s words, Huo Sining was somewhat surprised.

This old man is a madman?

She looked at the old man again and noticed that his expression was indeed a bit off.

The shop owner wrested the rough jade from the old man’s hands and returned it to Huo Sining, yet the old man continued to rant, ”Not selling to women! Can’t sell it to her, women are vicious!”

The shop owner seemed helpless, nudging him out of the yard while appeasing him,

”Alright already, not selling it to her it is. Go on back, or else your granddaughter will come looking for you again!”

Even though this shop owner tried to get the old man out of the yard as soon as he saw him there, he only asked him to go find the shop assistant to play with, not really shooing him away.

Moreover, the shop owner’s attitude towards this mad old man was rather open; his words contained no trace of irritation, as if it wasn’t disgust he felt toward the old man, but rather a sense of affection and helplessness.

Would anyone have such a gentle attitude if a madman were to come and cause trouble in their own shop?

Huo Sining looked at the crazed old man with a new layer of curiosity and inquiry in his eyes, it seemed that the owner of this store had quite the connection with him.

”I’m really sorry, miss, that man just now is my uncle. His mind was traumatized some years ago, so he’s not always lucid. If he has offended you, I apologize on his behalf.”

As expected, it wasn’t long before the store owner came back, explaining with an honest smile to Huo Sining.

Huo Sining smiled and shook her head, ”No harm done, how much are you selling these stones for?”

Huo Sining asked, pointing at a pile of raw materials from the old mine.

The owner glanced at Huo Sining and, seeing that she truly wasn’t upset, smiled and said, ”The raw materials laid out here are thirty thousand yuan per kilogram, and those on the outer shelves are one hundred thousand yuan per kilogram.”

Seeing Huo Sining remain silent, the store owner thought she must have been scared off by his pricing and hurriedly explained:

”These are new stocks in my shop, the remaining batch of raw materials from Myanmar’s old mining area. They are pricier, but they are genuinely good stuff. You see that gentleman who was just here? He picked his materials from here, and they went up a lot in value.”

Huo Sining only half-believed what the shop owner said. It was true that these were materials from an old mine, but whether they were the last batch, she wasn’t sure.

And even if they were old mine materials, it didn’t mean every piece would increase in value. Although they looked promising on the outside, the probability of finding jadeite wasn’t high.

At least, when Huo Sining used her Heavenly Eye Skill to check, out of the twenty-something pieces of material, only about five or six contained jadeite, and the only piece of high-quality jadeite was the one she was holding in her arms.

This piece of raw material wasn’t very big, probably less than twenty kilograms, only slightly larger than a common watermelon of about ten kilograms.

However, the moment Huo Sining touched this piece of material, she saw a touch of blue as vast as the ocean, shining like a clear summer sky.

Ocean blue, royal purple, and chicken oil yellow are high-grade jadeite colors second only to full-color imperial emerald green. The charm of ocean blue lies in its color combining perfectly with clear, icy jadeite, creating a mesmerizing and mysterious beauty like the vast starry sky or the deep ocean when under the sunlight.

Back when Jade Beauty had just opened, to advertise for the studio for free, Huo Sining had participated in a bet on stones event organized by Zhou’s Jewelry with a piece of gamble stone.

In front of many spectators from S City, the gamble stone Huo Sining brought out resulted in a piece resembling Fortune, Prosperity and Longevity, while another contestant, Su Qingqing’s senior brother Yin Zeyan, revealed high ice type ocean blue from his raw material.

Seeing that piece of ocean blue, Huo Sining fell in love with that mysterious ocean-like color. Unfortunately, as the jadeite had already been cut and even if she wanted it, Yin Zeyan might not have been willing to sell, and she couldn’t afford it at that time either.

The piece of raw material in Huo Sining’s hands now contained high ice type ocean blue. Although the color wasn’t completely pervasive, such jadeite could certainly be deemed a top-grade piece. Having finally come across a color she loved, how could Huo Sining possibly let it slip away?

After handing the piece of material to Wu Jun to take care of, Huo Sining looked over the rest of the raw materials again, but in the end, she only spotted another piece containing Yang Green egg-white type jadeite. However, the jadeite inside was quite small, just enough to make a pair of bracelets, with the remainder suitable for a few ring faces and pendants.

If ordinary betters on stones had seen this, they would have been ecstatic, eager to buy it immediately. A pair of Yang Green egg-white type bracelets could sell for seven or eight hundred thousand yuan alone, not to mention the ring faces and pendants, which would definitely be a significant gain.

However, Huo Sining hesitated. In her view, such material didn’t promise much profit because just the raw material would cost her a capital investment of around one to two hundred thousand yuan.
