Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 517: Chapter 514 Oriental Pearl Follow-up

Huo Sining was truly hungry after being busy all night, first catching fish then rescuing people, followed by prying ambergris on a deserted island, dodging killer whales with the help of a little dolphin, and finally picking treasures from the sunken ship among the reefs. She was completely exhausted and her stomach had long been empty.

However, upon reflection, her night was full of twists and turns and truly filled with thrilling and colorful experiences.

Anyway, no matter how one puts it, her gains from this night were indeed substantial.

After gobbling down her meal, Huo Sining leaned back on the sofa to rest, casually turning on the TV.

At that time, it was the midday news broadcast, and the female anchor on the TV was reporting the follow-up news of the Oriental Pearl’s capsizing last night with an excited expression.

”Last night, the Oriental Pearl tanker was suddenly struck by heavy rain and a tornado one hundred and sixty nautical miles from the shore. The crew had no time to react or call for help, and the entire ship was swept up and capsized by the tornado.”

”While the search and rescue team rushed to the site, relatives of the passengers on the tanker contacted the victims and learned that there were survivors trapped on a deserted island seeking support. The rescue team quickly reached the island, not far from the site of the incident.”

”What is surprising and fortunate is that on this deserted island, there were over three hundred survivors. After the entire oil tanker capsized, causing all passengers and crew to fall into the water, they were miraculously saved and safely escorted to the island.”

”Who was it that bravely stepped forward at this critical moment to save the victims ashore? Please watch our station’s reporter interviewing the people involved.”

This was followed by debates about ”dolphins saving people” and ”mermaids saving people,” which baffled the interviewing reporters and left the anchorwoman speechless.

Huo Sining watched with amusement, the corners of her mouth involuntarily curving upward, then she switched to another channel, which was still covering the Oriental Pearl, but this time it was about the situation of the survivors.

”A total of three hundred and sixty-seven survivors were rescued from this shipwreck, among them Mr. Zheng Huaqing, the head of Yulong Real Estate. Yulong Real Estate is the third-ranked real estate group in the country, which rose to prominence five years ago and has rapidly developed in the domestic real estate market, encompassing...”

Hearing this news, Huo Sining was somewhat surprised. Last night, she had been too busy rescuing people to care about who exactly she was saving; regardless of gender or age, she just indiscriminately gathered everyone into her Space, so she had no idea that Zheng Huaqing had been among those she had saved.

It was only at this moment that Huo Sining suddenly remembered that shortly after the Oriental Pearl incident in her previous life, a reporter had written an article about Zheng Huaqing online.

After Zheng Huaqing’s accident, Yulong Real Estate was left without a leader and was quickly divided up by other real estate groups. The reporter lamented this greatly, and that article was shared by many netizens.

Huo Sining had read the article but had not retained a deep impression in her mind. However, now seeing this news, she suddenly remembered it.

No wonder when she first saw Zheng Huaqing while sailing with Gu Xu and Ouyang Jun, she felt his name was familiar. It turned out that in her previous life, she had heard the name Zheng Huaqing before.

She never expected that by some fate, she had actually saved Zheng Huaqing. She had no idea if her butterfly wings, having saved so many people, would trigger a series of butterfly effects, but Huo Sining could not consider so much. In such a crisis, the first thing anyone would think of was to save people, not anything else.

To avoid being discovered, Huo Sining deliberately wore a hat to cover her face while rescuing people. Fortunately, the accident happened at night, so no one could clearly see her face.

Additionally, there was a torrential downpour, and it was very dark. Everyone in the water was in a state of panic and chaos, paying no attention to others, so her rescue went by unnoticed, completely undetected.

Huo Sining had no intention of taking credit, but the Maritime Authority and the Police Department had to investigate the cause and course of the accident. No one would believe the ridiculous notion of a mermaid, despite the insistence of those saved. Such an explanation would never be accepted by the public.

The idea of dolphins saving people was also unbelievable, as there were more than three hundred people rescued from the water. Each dolphin could only save one person at a time, and in such a short moment, unless there were over three hundred dolphins acting together. But how likely was that?

The Maritime Authority and the Police Department were fraught with anxiety over the incident, but after several days of investigation without a clue, they had to hastily conclude, casually finding an excuse to appease the public: due to the ocean currents, those who fell overboard were washed to a nearby island and thus survived.

Even the survivors scoffed at such an explanation. What kind of nonsense currents were those? They were struggling in the water and were clearly rescued to shore by someone, right?

The official explanation was too far-fetched, but topics like ”dolphins rescuing people” and ”mermaid sightings” were hotly discussed by netizens online.

Although the notion of dolphins rescuing people was more credible, people still hoped there really were mermaids in the sea, as such an explanation was too romantic and imaginative.

Even some bold producers saw a business opportunity in the incident and decided to make a sci-fi movie based on the Oriental Pearl incident, using the element of the mermaid. As soon as this idea was announced, it instantly gained immense support and enthusiasm from countless netizens.

Huo Sining didn’t pay much attention to the online discussions; what concerned her more was the strange incantation that had suddenly come to mind while she was in the sea, and why, when she recited it, the killer whale stopped chasing her. It was all too bizarre.

Huo Sining recited the incantation again and felt that the Azure Pearl seemed a bit different, but she didn’t notice any other significant changes.

Huo Sining was at a loss and couldn’t help but want to find Yan Feng to ask about it. To her disappointment, Yan Feng was not in the basement and she didn’t know where he had gone.

She frowned and was just about to go upstairs to get her phone to call Yan Feng when, at that moment, someone stormed in briskly from outside.

Auntie Li peeked out from the kitchen and saw that the visitor was Su Qingqing, immediately asking with a beaming smile, ”Miss Su, have you arrived?”

Su Qingqing nodded: ”Yes, is Ningning here?”

”She is, she just got back.”

Auntie Li subconsciously pointed towards the living room, but upon noticing it was empty, she mumbled:

”Eh, she was just sitting in the living room. How come she’s gone? She must have gone back to her room. Go upstairs and look for her.”
