Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 521: Chapter 518: The Stolen Storage Locker

Zhu Xingwang haggled with Watanabe Yasu for several minutes, and finally, they agreed on a price that satisfied both parties. Watanabe Yasu signaled to his secretary, who then took out a bank draft from a briefcase and filled out a cheque to hand over to Zhu Xingwang.

With the cheque in his hands, Zhu Xingwang’s eyes sparkled with excitement. Without saying another word, he pulled out a small square slip of paper from the inner pocket under his armpit and handed it to the secretary.

”What is this?” Watanabe Yasu frowned.

Zhu Xingwang grinned, ”This is the barcode coupon for a storage locker at Walmart Supermarket near the Hilton Hotel. The item is in the storage locker; this coupon is needed to open it.”

The interpreter translated the message for Watanabe Yasu, and the secretary nodded at him. Neither party had any objections. Watanabe Yasu, smiling, took the small coupon in his hand and nodded, ”Fine, I’ll have my secretary accompany you to the bank. As soon as I retrieve the item from the locker, the cheque can be cashed immediately.”

After some discussion, the two men finally reached an agreement to split up. Watanabe Yasu would go with his secretary to the Walmart Supermarket to fetch the item, while Zhu Xingwang would follow Watanabe Yasu’s secretary to the bank.

The four of them left the hotel, and Huo Sining urgently took out his phone from the storage ring and called Qin Shaoyou:

”Hurry! Get to the Walmart Supermarket near the Hilton right now. Zhu Xingwang has stored the item in a locker there, and that Dongyang man is about to go get it!”

Upon hearing this, Qin Shaoyou hurriedly ran out of the hotel. While running, he asked, ”What’s going on?”

”I don’t have time to explain everything to you right now. Just hurry over there. I’ll send the barcode for the storage locker to your phone in a moment. You have to be fast! They’ve already gone downstairs; you have to get to the item before him!”

”I got it!” Qin Shaoyou rushed toward the Walmart Supermarket. Upon reaching the entrance, he received a string of numbers sent by Huo Sining.

Zhu Xingwang happily followed Watanabe Yasu’s secretary to the only Swiss International Bank in S City.

Domestic banks couldn’t guarantee customer confidentiality, but the Swiss Bank wouldn’t have customer information leakage issues.

Therefore, on his way there, Zhu Xingwang had decided that once the cheque signed by Watanabe Yasu was cashed, he would open an account in the Swiss Bank and deposit the large sum of money there.

But Zhu Xingwang’s dream shattered as soon as he walked through the bank’s doors. After receiving a phone call, the secretary’s expression turned instantly grim. He glared fiercely at Zhu Xingwang and sneered, ”Professor Zhu, you dare to play us for fools?!”

Zhu Xingwang wore a look of confusion: ”What are you talking about?”

The secretary angrily said, ”You know exactly what I’m talking about. There’s nothing in that storage locker. This is a case of fraud, involving a huge amount of fifteen million. We will report this matter to your consulate. I believe the Huaxia Government will give us an explanation!”

Zhu Xingwang was dumbfounded by the secretary’s words: ”What? Empty? How is that possible! I personally placed the item there, how could it be empty?!”

Unfortunately, no matter how Zhu Xingwang defended himself, the secretary was convinced he was lying. Seeing Zhu Xingwang’s face turn bright red with excitement, almost jumping with agitation, Misu sneered:

”You don’t need to act anymore. Do you know what happens when you offend a corporation? Just wait for the judgement of the Huaxia justice system!”

After saying these words, the secretary left with an ashen face and flounced sleeves.

Coming back to his senses, Zhu Xingwang hurriedly hailed a cab to Walmart, only to find the storage locker empty. He was livid.

Zhu Xingwang wanted to argue with the supermarket staff, but he had already handed over the barcode to Watanabe Yasu, and now he had no evidence.

He also didn’t dare to call the police because if the investigation went further, his theft of Gan Lijun’s research achievements would also be exposed.

Zhu Xingwang’s complexion kept changing from pale to flush. He couldn’t figure out which part of his plan had gone wrong. Why had the items he properly stored in the supermarket storage locker mysteriously disappeared?

Compared to Zhu Xingwang’s frantic rage, Qin Shaoyou, who had obtained the items, was overjoyed. After meeting up with Su Qingqing, Huo Sining anxiously phoned to confirm, ”How did it go, did you get the stuff?”

Pumped up, Qin Shaoyou replied excitedly, ”Got it, I have the samples and the documents, and they’re the originals. Zhu Xingwang probably didn’t have time to make copies, and without the parent fish as samples, even if he made copies, they would be useless.”

Huo Sining instantly breathed a sigh of relief, ”That’s good, as long as the items are back.”

As Qin Shaoyou’s emotions gradually cooled down, he reflected on the events and sensed something amiss:

”How did you know the items were in the storage locker, and how did you know about that barcode?”

Huo Sining’s heart skipped a beat, and he vaguely explained, ”I was about to knock on the door when they came out of the room. I happened to bump into them, and that Japanese man was holding a barcode receipt. When I bumped into him, the receipt fell to the ground. As I helped pick it up, I made a mental note of the numbers.”

”After that, I overheard them talking about the Walmart storage locker as they walked away. Since the Japanese man didn’t have anything in his hands after the deal, I guessed Zhu Xingwang might have stored the items in the Walmart storage locker.”

Hearing Huo Sining’s explanation, Qin Shaoyou believed it to be true, sighing deeply. He felt relieved and scared about today’s events:

”That old guy is really sly, hiding things in a supermarket storage locker. We were lucky you were sharp today; otherwise, Zhu Xingwang would have succeeded!”

Qin Shaoyou couldn’t help feeling somewhat unsatisfied. ”It’s a shame we didn’t catch him red-handed and send him to jail. Such a person is a disgrace as a teacher!”

Hearing this, Huo Sining actually laughed, ”There’s no need to worry about that. Zhu Xingwang tried to fool the president of the corporation this time and offended that Dongyang man. I bet the corporation’s people won’t let him off easily! When he’s down on his luck, we’ll just give him an extra push, and I doubt he’ll be able to turn things around.”

Thinking it over, Qin Shaoyou agreed. Zhu Xingwang had really messed up this time. Offending the corporation’s people, he probably wouldn’t get away unscathed even if he survived. With that thought, Qin Shaoyou stopped dwelling on it and rushed back to the hospital to report the good news to Gan Lijun.
