Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 513: Chapter 509 Oriental Pearl

The sea was in the throes of a wild storm when a small dolphin just brought Huo Sining up to the surface, and a bolt of lightning suddenly erupted not far away, startling her.

Lightning swept across the sky, and the sea lit up in brightness. Huo Sining saw a capsized vessel amidst the waves, and not far from her, several people were struggling in the water.

Huo Sining’s heart skipped a beat. Witnessing such a scene, she would be a fool not to understand what had happened.

She hurried toward the castaways, her mind abruptly flashed with several images, memories surging like a tidal wave.

The Oriental Pearl encountered a sudden tornado at sea, causing the luxury liner to capsize in an instant. Over three hundred passengers on board were swallowed up by the sea in a blink, with no time for calls for help or escape.

This disaster resulted in hundreds of casualties, with countless people lighting candles and praying for the victims on social media. However, the final number of survivors rescued by the search and rescue teams was less than ten.

Huo Sining only remembered that the incident occurred near the Huangjiang Delta and vaguely recalled it was shortly after the Spring Festival, yet she couldn’t remember which year it was.

Now, seeing the scene before her, she was certain that this must be the Oriental Pearl. This day was the day of the Oriental Pearl’s ordeal.

Without the time to think further, Huo Sining swam desperately towards those struggling in the water, bringing each person she encountered into her ring’s space, then continued toward the area where there were more people.

It wasn’t long before she saw groups of dolphins follow and join the rescue team. Huo Sining didn’t have time to worry about that. She simply pulled a cap over her head to cover her face and dived into the underside of the capsized liner.

More people were buried beneath the liner.

It was at this moment that she truly recognized the greatest benefit of the Water-Repelling Pearl, that she could rescue people without any hesitation in the face of disaster.

Searching from one room to the next, rescuing one drowning person after another, Huo Sining didn’t know how many people she had saved, nor how many times she had gone in and out, until she was completely exhausted and the Azure Pearl could no longer exude any Spiritual Energy.

The small dolphin carried her to a nearby sea island. After a short rest, Huo Sining quietly brought out the people she had rescued from the space within her ring.

Hundreds of people were placed in the shallow water less than ten meters from the sea island. Soon someone woke from the choking water and realized that they were less than ten meters from the nearby island. Their feet even touched the fine sandy land below, causing a mix of surprise and elation as they eagerly rushed toward the island.

”It’s an island, we’re saved! Oh my God, we’re saved!”

”What on earth happened, how did we end up here?”

”Look, that’s our ship, it’s capsized!”

”Wuwuwu, we’re still alive!”

Just at that moment, groups of dolphins gradually followed behind Huo Sining, swimming over. On their backs, they each carried a disheveled castaway.

”It was the dolphins, it was the dolphins that saved us!”

Seeing the dolphins carry the rescued people to the island shore and then perform a dance in groups on the water’s surface, those who had been saved couldn’t help but shout and cheer, crediting the dolphins for their rescue.

But among the first group to reach the shore, some survivors showed doubt and hesitation in their eyes, as they could vaguely remember what happened just before they were saved.

”No, I remember I was in the cabin, I swallowed so much water, and in a dazed state, it felt like someone rushed into the cabin, it must have been that person who saved me!”

”Yes, I saw it too, that person wore a hat, with very long hair! It was a woman!”

”Not a person, a mermaid, it was a mermaid that saved me, I even heard her speak. Her skin was so smooth, I felt it when she grabbed me!”

”Are you kidding me? Where in the world are there mermaids? This isn’t some mythical tale!”

”Exactly, if there were mermaids, why didn’t we see any? You must have hallucinated due to shock from inhaling too much water when you fell overboard!”

”If there really were mermaids, then why haven’t we ever seen them before? And wearing a hat, this isn’t a made-up story!”

The pragmatic group that firmly believed dolphins carried out the rescue convinced themselves they knew the whole truth and scoffed at the mermaid theory. With that dismissal, those survivors who thought a mermaid saved them also began to waver, wondering if perhaps they were mistaken.

Lying nearby and resting, Huo Sining heard these arguments and couldn’t help but find it amusing. However, no matter what, she was happy that these people’s lives were saved—not a small thing, considering there were over three hundred lives at stake. And even though she was so exhausted she could barely move, she felt extremely content.

When the Oriental Pearl went missing and lost contact, the Marine Bureau quickly received the news. Even though it was nighttime, the Bureau’s folks soon realized the gravity of the situation and urgently dispatched ships for a search and rescue operation.

”The Oriental Pearl lost contact twenty minutes ago, and the ship is predicted to have capsized. The longitude and latitude of the sinking location have been confirmed, with a depth of water at 200 meters. There were over three hundred crew members and passengers on board.”

”Because the ship capsized too quickly, people on board did not react in time and could not leave the vessel promptly.”

”Although our Marine Bureau has urgently sent out a search and rescue team, the current conditions of a tornado and torrential rain at sea are making the search and rescue extremely difficult.”

In the mere twenty minutes since the incident, media caught wind of the situation and flocked to the customs port, starting to release breaking news on various television stations and online platforms.

The director of the Marine Bureau’s eyes were bloodshot, and he was completely dazed, especially upon hearing that there were over three hundred people on board. He collapsed onto the floor in fright, his eyes losing their luster: ”Over three hundred lives! It’s all over!”

”Director, the media and relatives are blowing up our phones, everyone’s asking what’s happened to the Oriental Pearl, what should we do?”

The director of the Marine Bureau managed a bitter smile, ”What to do? What can we do? The search and rescue teams must go all out, and we’ll have to request additional assistance from above. With the storm and tornado at night, I reckon the chances of survival are slim!”

Realizing his position as director might be coming to an end, he still knew he had duties to fulfill. Picking up his mobile phone, he urgently called his superiors. Meanwhile, the netizens who had learned about the capsize of the Oriental Pearl were in an uproar online.
