Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 515: Chapter 511: The First Sunken Ship

Not only that, but the whale also emitted a massive sound, and the little dolphin, having never seen such a sight, was instantly scared witless.

Whale! Huo Sining was stunned for a moment but quickly came to her senses; even though she had never seen a whale with her own eyes, the creature was black, massive in size, and could spout water—it was without a doubt a whale!

Huo Sining was very surprised; she had not expected to see a whale under these circumstances. The whale before her was enormous, easily eight or nine meters long, certainly a big fellow.

She had no idea what species of whale it could be.

This thought didn’t linger long in Huo Sining’s mind because, the next second, the frightened dolphin snapped out of it and started to flee frantically in all directions, carrying Huo Sining on its back, in a complete panic.

Seeing the distressed escape of the little dolphin, Huo Sining suddenly realized something, and a term flashed through her mind—killer whale!

Killer whales are a large species of toothed whale, bold and cunning, ruthless and gluttonous. They are often active along the coasts of the Pacific Ocean and are considered ”lawless thugs” of the vast ocean, feared by nearly all other marine animals.

Because of their ferocious nature, they are also known as orcas, wolves of the sea, and assassin whales.

Most importantly, this creature is the bane of dolphins!

It seemed that the whale had noticed the little dolphin fleeing, as it pursued relentlessly from behind. Huo Sining now realized the trouble they were in; it looked like the little dolphin was unlucky to encounter not just any ordinary whale, but its natural predator, the killer whale!

The young dolphin, after all, was inexperienced; fine for play, but it had never faced such danger before. It was about to be caught by the killer whale.

The echolocation system of the killer whales has millions of years of history; they can navigate and hunt prey with their sonar beams, making it very difficult for prey to escape once targeted.

Huo Sining knew this was bad as soon as she saw the situation unfolding. On one hand, she regretted insisting on having the little dolphin bring her here to collect ambergris at this time, which wouldn’t have led to encountering this massive creature. On the other hand, she had to quickly think of a strategy to deal with the immediate trouble.

In the face of crisis, people often unleash their potential. With the huge creature almost within reach, and as it opened its great jaws, devouring all life in its path, Huo Sining felt her scalp tighten. In a burst of panic, a string of incantations suddenly flashed through her mind, and she recited them almost instinctively.

Soon, she felt an unusual sensation emerging from her forehead. The little dolphin continued to carry her as it fled in every direction, but before long, the killer whale that had been relentlessly pursuing them suddenly stopped.

Then, before she knew it, the colossal whale seemed to have lost track of its target, looked around confusedly in the water, and with a mighty roar and a burst of a massive waterspout, it turned its huge body around in the water with difficulty and slowly drifted away.

Huo Sining was puzzled but didn’t think too much of it. The little dolphin, however, was overjoyed at having narrowly escaped from the jaws of the killer whale. It carried Huo Sining with several leaps, then suddenly dove into the deep sea, swimming toward the seafloor.

Fortunately, Huo Sining was protected by the Azure Pearl, or that dive would have been the end of her.

”Could you slow down, honey? Can we go back now?” Huo Sining anxiously asked the little dolphin.

This time, the creature completely ignored Huo Sining, focused solely on burrowing to the seabed, leaving Huo Sining feeling downhearted, with no choice but to lie on the dolphin’s back and let it dart around in the sea.

Not long after, she was brought by the dolphin to the deep sea area. As the creature let out a joyful cry, Huo Sining was just about to ask where exactly it wanted to take her when she looked up and was struck dumb.

Less than 500 meters ahead on the seafloor, a vast expanse of black rocks had suddenly appeared.

”What is this place?”

Huo Sining found it strange. It was only after she followed the little dolphin closer that she realized the rocks she had originally seen were just the tip of the iceberg.

There were no fewer than hundreds of reefs in this sea area, countless in number, varying in height and size.

The reefs were divided into exposed reefs and semi-exposed reefs. Exposed reefs could be seen directly above the water surface with the naked eye; semi-exposed reefs were submerged in the sea.

Only a part of the semi-exposed reefs would vaguely become visible above the water surface at low tide but would submerge again during high tide, becoming invisible.

These semi-exposed reefs, hidden in the sea, were oddly shaped and rugged. The large ones covered dozens of square meters, while the small ones were only half a meter square.

Semi-exposed reefs were notorious ship killers. The water around these rocks was exceedingly shallow, so if a ship ventured into this area, it would certainly hit a reef and sink.

Huo Sining herself saw one of the reefs, long and sharp like a blade, less than a meter from the surface. In case of a massive impact, if the hull struck it, it would be like piercing through a sharp blade, and it would be odd if it didn’t tear a huge hole.

As Huo Sining pondered the dangers of these reefs, the little dolphin seemed extremely delighted, leading her through the maze of reefs into the deep sea zone. The depth here was about 500 meters, and not long after swimming through the reefs, Huo Sining reached the sandy seabed.

Below the seabed, numerous fish swam among it, along with vibrantly colored coral reefs, sea urchins, and Sea Stars crowding the rocks, amidst various other marine plants and animals.

What surprised, even dazzled, Huo Sining was that shortly after entering this maze of reefs, she saw the wreckage of a ship.

The wreck was head down, with part of its hull buried in the seabed, and the rest exposed in the water, seaweed, and moss covering the sails and planks.

The reason Huo Sining was dazzled was that the sunken ship was a wooden double-track sailboat with an all-wood structure, even the joints of the hull being connected by wooden fasteners.

This meant that the ship must be from ancient times, at least dating back to the 15th or 16th century, because before the Industrial Revolution, our country didn’t use steel for shipbuilding. This wasn’t an ironclad ship, definitely not a product of modern technology.

The wooden ship was about twenty meters long, with about a dozen round oar holes on the sides of the hull, which had now become entrances and exits for marine life. Upon approaching the wooden ship, the little dolphin excitedly darted into the hull, looking extremely thrilled.

Seeing the little dolphin’s antics, how could Huo Sining not understand? This little guy had brought her all this way to the deep sea just for this sunken ship.

Here—this was very likely the little guy’s secret base!
