The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

That evening, the manor was especially lively.

Ms. Wu brought her parents over, and that afternoon, her brothers specifically went to the mountains to hunt wild chickens and rabbits to add to the meal.

The Fang Family and Xu Family had lived in Righteous Dao Village for so many years, and had made many close friendships with neighbors. Those who could come did so, and while everyone felt a bit reluctant, there was more envy.

Everyone knew their future days wouldn’t be bad. Quite a few people regretted not helping capture the rebels at the time, thinking if they had, they might be leaving now too.

The expenses for this final farewell gathering were half covered by Shu Yu, and the other half by the manor. This counted as a big celebration for Righteous Dao Village, and of course, the village had to show some gesture.

The Fang and Xu families were going to the capital, where money would need to be spent everywhere, but they weren’t wealthy, so it was better to save a bit now.

Knowing this, Shu Quan regretted not attending. This feast was rare, and he didn’t expect to miss it.

After a satisfying meal, everyone rested overnight and were happy to head to the county town the next day to handle residency paperwork.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng didn’t go; with nothing to do, they went up the mountain.

They had a premonition that after leaving this time, even if they returned to the southwest, they probably wouldn’t come back to Righteous Dao Village; at least not within ten years.

They didn’t plan on hunting, just wandered around, treating it as a revisit to familiar places.

”I remember here; back then, those people from the fifth squad tried to set us up, but you took care of them.”

Meng Yunzheng held her hand and laughed, ”The current fifth squad seems to have been completely replaced.”

”Is that so? I didn’t notice.”

The two walked slowly, and soon reached a hilltop. Shu Yu originally planned to turn back, but hesitated upon seeing a wooden plaque in front of the hill, ”That looks like Second Lord’s grave.”

Meng Yunzheng glanced up to see Second Master’s name. But the grave seemed long unkempt. It seemed that even after his death, Second Master couldn’t attract even a brief look from others.

”Do you think the Shu family will relocate Second Lord’s grave now that they’re all gone?”

Meng Yunzheng raised an eyebrow, ”What do you think?”

Shu Yu glanced again and shook her head, ”I don’t think they’ll move it.”

Relocating a grave is a big undertaking, and not to mention the Shu family’s aversion to Second Lord, even if there were still feelings, it’s unlikely they’d move it now.

They didn’t continue looking, turning to continue into the mountains.

By the afternoon when they descended, those who went to the county town for business had returned.

They were efficient, not only handling residency paperwork and obtaining travel permits, but also purchasing all the necessities for the road. Each family had a mule carriage ready to go.

Immediately, they began the intensive process of packing.

Despite living in Righteous Dao Village for a few years, they truly didn’t have much. Besides necessary clothing and bedding, and a few pots and pans, they had nothing else.

Everyone worked until it was evening.

That day, everyone prepared early and went to bed, but perhaps due to excitement, they ended up unable to sleep.

The next day, as Shu Yu loaded luggage onto the carriage, ready to depart, she noticed all three families yawning as they arrived.

The Xu and Shu families quickly got on their carriages, but the Fang family felt excitement mingled with reluctance.

Father Fang and Mother Fang, holding their child, spent a long time repeatedly advising Fang Xiyue and Ma Lu before finally letting them get on the carriage.
