The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Rong Hou found it quite interesting; a moment ago, he was persuading Meng Yunzheng to serve his own brother, and now, in the blink of an eye, his wife was setting her sights on him.

He stood up, ”County Lord Lu really underestimates me.”

”I don’t underestimate you; you’ve captured my master, captured Lord Cheng, and even captured the two of us. Who dares say you have no skill? I only find it a pity that someone as talented as you is walking into a dark path, risking your life carelessly and throwing it away for nothing, isn’t that such a pity?”

Rong Hou’s fingers tightened slightly, he uttered a ”humph.”

Shu Yu pressed on, ”Steward Rong, think about it carefully. I am a humble county magistrate, but my husband can still speak to the Emperor. If you abandon darkness for light and achieve great merit, surely the Emperor will reward you properly. Steward Rong, we must think not only for ourselves but also for our family, right? Ask your heart, what are your pursuits? Are they for your ambition and aspiration, for your family to live well, or to honor your family’s name?”

Rong Hou’s breath halted for a moment, then he sneered and walked away.

”County magistrate, think about your own situation first.”

He pushed open the door roughly and instructed the guards outside, ”Watch them closely.”

”Yes.”

Cheng Wu approached, ”What did the county magistrate say?”

”What else could she say? Just trying to get information from me and persuading me not to persist in my wrong ways, saying we can’t beat them. Tsk...”

Rong Hou smirked sarcastically and shook his head as he walked away.

Cheng Wu immediately followed, merely giving a light chuckle.

He didn’t know the commentary of the Dongqing Temple master, so he couldn’t comprehend the turmoil in Rong Hou’s heart at that moment.

However, Shu Yu felt somewhat relieved. The Dongqing Temple master opened his eyes and said softly, ”I didn’t expect you would make such a suggestion.”

”I also didn’t expect the person I’d meet would be him.”

From the moment she saw Rong Hou, Shu Yu’s mind began a frenzy of calculations.

Shu Yu had met Rong Hou briefly at the Jiangyuan County black market, hurriedly. But her uncle, Yuan Shanchuan, had interactions with him. Yuan Shanchuan nearly lost his life in the black market turmoil because Rong Hou coveted the painting in his hands and forcibly seized it.

Because of this matter, Rong Hou was transferred from the black market to another place and replaced by Steward Guo.

From this, it can be seen that Rong Hou is a person who seeks immediate benefits, lacking foresight and a broad perspective. A person like this, when shown the benefits and made aware of a hopeless future, is very likely to be persuaded.

Furthermore, after the Jiangyuan County black market closed, Steward Guo went to the black market in Changjin Prefecture and quickly became a steward there, firmly establishing his position.

Yet Rong Hou was exiled to the southwest, which can’t compare to Changjin Prefecture. Otherwise, when the Second Prince rebelled, southwest wouldn’t have been taken as a backup, while half of the stewards from the Changjin Prefecture black market were transferred to the Capital.

And after so many years, it seems Rong Hou has not gained high status in the black market. Although older than Steward Guo, his ability is inferior.

Thus, Shu Yu thought it worth trying to persuade him; even if the other party remained unmoved, it would surely plant a seed in his heart. Who knows when this seed might sprout?

The Dongqing Temple master looked at her and said, ”His appearance has already changed.”
