The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Quan did indeed feel a bit regretful about the ten taels of silver, but since it’s already given, he can’t exactly take it back.

He doesn’t want to create any trouble before he’s pardoned. If his brother-in-law can’t go, so be it; these matters are less important than getting rid of the criminal record.

After Shu Zhao coaxes her daughter to sleep, she said to her mother and brother, ”It’s fine. Even if we can’t go, the two of us can’t possibly starve to death here in Righteous Dao Village?”

Second Madam just held her hand, sighing continuously.

Shu Yu’s recruitment continued for another day. After so much busywork, it turned out that Gu Xinghua was still the most suitable.

When Meng Yunzheng returned to Chong County with the newly appointed Manager Luo and brought back another candidate for staff, Shu Yu finally sent Ying Xi to the Shu family to inform them of the results.

The Shu family, needless to say, were delighted.

On the third day, Shu Yu went to the authorities to handle the residence paperwork for the two new staff.

The staff recruited in the county town were locals, so it didn’t really matter, but Gu Xinghua and Shu Zhao were people exiled to Righteous Dao Village. In principle, since their exile had been over three years, as long as they didn’t leave the southwest, it wasn’t an issue.

However, living in the provincial capital long-term required a legitimate reason and documentation.

For others, it might be difficult to manage, but Shu Yu is the county magistrate; getting paperwork for two people is not a big deal.

Once this was done, she brought a few people back to Hetai Prefecture, initially to help out in the store and familiarize themselves with the surroundings.

Second Madam and Shu Quan had visited once and found the environment quite good, knowing Shu Zhao would likely permanently reside here, which set their minds at ease.

Second Madam even considered settling in Hetai Prefecture after clearing their names.

But it was just a thought.

As Shu Yu’s store renovations neared completion, the matters on Qi Lie’s side were also mostly handled.

The imperial court sent officials over again, and Lord Cheng’s family was escorted to the Capital.

They said it was an escort, but with Qi Lie’s arrangements, it was almost akin to a protection detail, not much suffering along the way.

The outcome of dealing with their family wouldn’t be out so soon.

On the day of departure, both Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng came to see them off.

Having gone through a disaster and prepared early psychologically, the Cheng family were very calm, ready to accept whatever outcome.

Cheng Xian accompanied them for a part of the journey before venturing off on his own.

As for what will happen to them later, that’s a matter for the future.

After seeing off the Cheng family, Shu Yu started vigorously promoting the store.

Actually, sunflower oil and melon seeds had already stirred a small whirlwind in the southwest. When these two first came out, Shu Yu sent them to the Fang Family and Xu Family, and likewise to Wang Changdong and Huifeng Escort Agency.

Huifeng Escort Agency owns a small shop, where they sourced some goods from Shu Yu to sell.

Business was good, though not large in volume; there were many repeat customers, and quite a few people especially traveled to Heichang County to buy.

The small shop remains open today, and Shu Yu hasn’t stopped the supply.

Her shop is open in Hetai Prefecture, far from Heichang County; they don’t interfere with each other and can even promote one another.

The publicity from Lu’s in Hetai Prefecture went smoothly; next is waiting for Yuan Gui and others to ship the goods over.

Wei Qin’s injury has almost fully healed. Ever since Shu Yu rented a small courtyard in Hetai Prefecture for overseeing the store’s renovation, Wei Qin was also brought over.

With Zhao Xi around, Wei Qin’s recovery was quick.
