The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Of course, Father Fang and Mother Fang also have other considerations.

Although Ma Lu is departing with a few brothers, those brothers are unmarried and clumsy in their actions. Fang Xiyue is bringing a child along, so traveling with the Xu family can provide companionship with Ms. Lin.

Ms. Lin has experience in taking care of children, preventing Fang Xiyue, a newly-made mother, from being overwhelmed in case of an incident.

The Xu family also believes this is good. All three members are busy, only Xu Zhensheng is energetic, but his injury has just healed, and traveling is already quite challenging for him, so he can’t do much else.

With Ma Lu and his brothers traveling together, they can all be more at ease.

Both sides reached a consensus and immediately decided to depart the day after tomorrow.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance and then said, ”If that’s the case, we will stay another day and travel with you.”

Everyone looked at her with surprise and delight, Shu Yu smiled and said, ”Although we are returning to Dongan Province, there is part of the journey where we can travel together. Moreover, since opportunities like this are rare, why not take a small detour to visit our home? Let me extend our hospitality as hosts, and after two days of rest, you can continue your journey north, how about that?”

The Xu family and Fang family thought it was a good idea. This way, they wouldn’t have to hire escorts separately and could travel with Lu’s convoy.

Moreover, since they are visiting the capital for the first time, they are unfamiliar with it, which inevitably makes them anxious. Along the way, they can inquire from Shu Yu about the situation in the capital.

Especially Xu Dali, who has many questions about Lord Jing, the Minister of Ministry of Central Judicial Office, who is about to become Xu Zhensheng’s superior.

Things were thus decided, and Fang Xiyue, despite some reluctance, felt reassured knowing that they could reunite soon.

Shu Quan, who had been standing aside and hesitated to speak, finally smiled and said when they had almost finished discussing, ”County Lord Lu, you see, we are also departing the day after tomorrow. Why don’t we travel together?”

The Shu family was heading to Jin City Prefecture, which was not far from the capital, and traveling together would provide companionship.

Shu Yu glanced at him sideways, ”Suit yourself, but you have to handle your own accommodations and meals. We’re not going to manage that for you.”

Even if she disagreed, as long as the Shu family followed behind them, there would be no difference.

Shu Quan replied, ”No problem, we’ll handle that ourselves.”

He wouldn’t dare ask them to do anything for him anyway, but fortunately, the Emperor had given them a money reward, so they would buy a mule carriage tomorrow and just follow along as a family.

All the families were delighted, and Aunt Fang hastily said, ”Since we’re leaving the day after tomorrow, tonight let’s gather well and have a meal together, as opportunities like this are rare in the future.”

She said to Steward Yu, ”Steward Yu, our house is too small, so could we borrow the manor to invite families we have good relationships with for a meal together?”

”Of course,” Steward Yu was happy to oblige. Not only was County Lord Lu present, but even if she weren’t, Xu Zhensheng would be working at the Central Judicial Office, and Ma Lu and his brothers would be working with Lord Qi. The future lay ahead beyond what he could chase.

Offering goodwill wouldn’t hurt.

Having received confirmation, Aunt Fang, Ms. Lin, and Ying Xi headed to the county town to buy food supplies.

The Shu family didn’t join in, since they didn’t have much money. Traveling costs would be high, and settling down would require money, so they decided to spend wisely and not contribute to the banquet with the Xu family and Fang family.
