The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Rong Hou squinted when he heard this, ”From what you’re saying, does it mean you’ll have a plan in a few days?”

Meng Yunzheng naturally couldn’t tell him the plan, he simply replied, ”You’ll know when the time comes.”

Rong Hou pursed his lips, ”You better be confident, otherwise...”

Otherwise what could happen, he couldn’t say.

A few days passed, and the Cheng Family had fully recovered their strength, even Cheng Xian’s injuries had significantly improved, and he could sit up without any problems now.

Just as Cheng Wu increasingly felt something was amiss with Rong Hou and was planning to find an excuse to go out, Meng Yunzheng heard the loud cries of a vendor from outside the Cheng Mansion.

”Selling tea! Last day for big discounts! Won’t be out tomorrow because of the rain—”

The voice was loud, but it was faint by the time it reached Meng Yunzheng’s side. Luckily, the guards inside the Cheng Mansion were silent, and the vast mansion was quiet enough for distant outside sounds to still be heard clearly.

Meng Yunzheng’s body went upright at once; this was the secret signal he had discussed with Qi Lie. The last day indicated action tomorrow, and rain symbolized that a storm was coming.

He exchanged a glance with Shu Yu, who then pulled out several needles and blades from her hair and handed them out under the astonished gazes of the Cheng Family.

She actually had weapons on her?

Shu Yu said, ”When they searched me, they only removed the pearl hairpin from my hair and didn’t find these things hidden inside the hair bun. You all take them, for protection.”

Lord Cheng was shocked, quickly realizing something, and urgently whispered, ”What are you planning to do?”

”Naturally, to escape.”

Lord Cheng widened his eyes, then raised his gaze to the roof.

Meng Yunzheng said, ”It’s alright, no one’s on the roof.”

Lord Cheng breathed a sigh of relief, then clenched the needle in his hand and impatiently asked, ”How do we escape? Even if there’s no one on the roof, there are people everywhere outside. Leaving would mean being shot from every direction.”

”Don’t worry, we have someone.”

Lord Cheng understood, he didn’t ask further, just whispered, ”What do you need us to do and how should we cooperate? Just tell us.”

Meng Yunzheng called everyone in the room over, ”Half of us here know martial arts, during the action, follow my instructions. As for Madam Cheng, you protect Cheng Xian and hide at the back; once we leave, shut the door immediately and don’t let anyone in...”

He began to refine the plan while the others listened attentively, nodding seriously, their expressions extremely solemn.

Everyone knew this might be the only chance; if they couldn’t succeed, they would all perish here.

By evening, Shu Yu met with Rong Hou.

Soon after, Rong Hou brought over hidden weapons: the sleeve arrows of Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng, Zhao Xi’s medicine pouch, and the weapons of Ying Xi and Xia Yan, all concealed in his sleeves. As for the Cheng Family’s weapons, he didn’t bring them. Since the times of detention varied, the weapons weren’t kept in the same place, so he only provided two daggers.

The next morning, Meng Yunzheng once again went over the plan with everyone, and then they waited tensely in the room.

The Cheng Family men had already positioned all the women behind them, and Cheng Xian bitterly resented being injured and unable to take part in the action.

As it was nearing noon, footsteps suddenly sounded from outside, followed by the voices of Rong Hou and Cheng Wu.

Meng Yunzheng’s brow furrowed, Shu Yu stood up, ”What’s going on? Why is Cheng Wu coming over?”

This was certainly a deviation from the plan.
