The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

The second family, after reading Cheng Xian’s introduction letter, very politely invited the two of them inside.

However, once they entered the house, they found the household to be very... lively, with too many people.

This person indeed had skills and was very loving towards his wife.

The problem was that his wife was extremely soft-hearted, to the point of adopting many children.

Shu Yu didn’t comment on such behavior; some children were indeed pitiful, and offering them a place to shelter from the storm was a display of kindness.

Shu Yu herself, within her capabilities, would also take care of such people.

Yes, within her capabilities.

But it was clear that this family’s wife didn’t think that way; she couldn’t even take care of her own children, putting all her efforts into bringing poor kids from outside into her home, squeezing her two own children into the corner, looking pitifully thin.

Shu Yu could only shake her head at this; even if the head of the family disagreed, he didn’t stop her. He loved his wife, which Shu Yu admired, but loving without limits, Shu Yu would worry endlessly if she entrusted him with the shop, for it would surely bring endless trouble.

The second family was also excluded.

They went to the third family.

The third family was quite good; the couple was harmonious, and though their children were a bit naughty, it wasn’t a big deal. Generally, Shu Yu was very satisfied.

The fourth family was also nice; although the man was a widower, the children were looked after by their mother, and he was a person with proper manners and many ideas.

Shu Yu contemplated the last two families for a while and ultimately chose the third family.

After making the choice, Shu Yu explained her purpose.

The man from the third family was named Luo Shu, over thirty years old, and quite smooth with people. In Hetai Prefecture, he could interact with people from the authorities down to the local tyrants.

Shu Yu had tested him. His character was not an issue.

Thus, the shopkeeper position was decided, and the staff selection was much simpler.

Shu Yu thought about the people from Righteous Dao Village and Heichang County, as she had received some favors from these two places before.

She wished to select two people from these places; however, Heichang County was a bit far from Hetai Prefecture, and if they wanted to come, it would indeed mean leaving their hometown.

When Shu Yu went to Righteous Dao Village, there were quite a few applicants; going to the provincial capital to be a shopkeeper was a decent and enviable job even if they hadn’t been exiled before.

After much selection, Shu Yu finally chose Zhang Ping’an from the Zhang family.

Zhang Ping’an had studied before, and on Shu Yu’s first day of exile, Aunt Zhang had exchanged food with her. Zhang Ping’an was quite honest, worked briskly, and was diligent, making him a suitable choice overall.

Unexpectedly, Zhang Ping’an’s wife disagreed, probably having heard that Aunt Zhang originally wanted to match him with Shu Yu, fearing any kind of inappropriate relationship, insisted on him refusing the job.

Aunt Zhang was almost furious to death, wanting to take a big broom and drive away the woman who hindered her son’s future.

Unexpectedly, it was discovered then that she was pregnant. Aunt Zhang was in a dilemma, not knowing whether to beat or not to beat.

In choosing between leaving home for work in the provincial capital and the future grandchild, the Zhang family eventually chose the child in the womb and tearfully refused the job.

Shu Yu felt helpless about it; she simply thought Zhang Ping’an was suitable, but she unexpectedly noticed that Meng Yunzheng seemed to be in a much better mood.

Just as Shu Yu was preparing to recruit again, as soon as the news spread, Shu Quan approached.
