The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Tao Hongdan sighed, ”Shuxian, you’re young. There’s no need to rush into decisions. We’ve spent years in the black market, and have grown tired of men... But you’re different; no need for you to suffer alongside us.”

These days, it’s not easy for a woman to live independently.

They’ve gone through many experiences, which led them to establish women’s households, relying on their own ideas in the future.

As for Kang Shuxian, she was only fourteen when taken to the black market by traffickers. Being young, she caught the sympathy of a woman following the third steward because of her naivety and innocence, who then kept her by her side as a little maid and didn’t allow her to serve the clients.

After leaving the black market, Kang Shuxian returned home. She didn’t expect her once-loving parents and siblings to refuse to believe she had retained her innocence during her year on the black market, demanding she take her life to preserve the Kang family’s reputation.

Kang Shuxian couldn’t bear it, completely heartbroken by her family, so she followed Tao Hongdan and the others to the southwest, declaring she’d never marry.

Tao Hongdan and the others treated her like a sister, taking care of her. After all, she’s young; her views might change in the future.

Previously, they thought to take things slowly, without urgency. But now things are different. Tao Hongdan can imagine the troubles they’ll face with independent households, the many rogues and local tyrants targeting them.

They don’t mind, but Kang Shuxian is young and simple-minded, what if...

Now with the Wen’an County Lord present, if she can help Shuxian find someone reliable to lean on, it’s better than her staying with them.

After hearing Tao Hongdan’s words, Shu Yu remained silent, yet Kang Shuxian firmly opposed and was unwilling.

There was some standoff between the parties.

Shu Yu could only say, ”Let her decide; I won’t make decisions on her behalf. You all should consider your future plans first. It’s getting late; I’ll take you to the inn to rest. We’ve suffered quite a bit in jail; let’s have a good meal and sleep, then talk.”

None of them objected; they were indeed very tired.

Shu Yu took them to the inn where they stayed. Their clothes and luggage were at their previous residence, but in the search, they were turned upside down, and needed tidying and washing before wearing again.

So Ying Xi bought several sets of ready-made clothes, and after bathing and eating, they finally went to sleep.

Shu Yu spoke with Wei Qin about encountering Cheng Jiatong in prison, the latter fell silent for a moment and raised her eyes to ask, ”What will happen to her in the end?”

Shu Yu thought for a moment, ”It’s uncertain; given her situation, she’s unlikely to be executed. She might be exiled, sold as a servant, or...” become an official courtesan.

”Cheng Wen will definitely be beheaded, rest assured, your revenge will soon be done.”

Wei Qin smiled, ”I know he won’t end well. No worries, I don’t care about them now; I just want to recover and go see Lele soon.”

”Exactly, he’ll surely be happy to see you.”

Wei Qin looked forward to it.

After resting overnight, Tao Hongdan and the others regained their spirits.

By the next day’s noon, they had roughly discussed their plans and approached Shu Yu about their future plans, ”We’ve been relying on embroidery work to make a living during this time. Among us, Wuyou’s embroidery is the most intricate and sells at the highest prices. Ah Ru is excellent at cooking, but previously He Fang mentioned that outside, cooks are all men, and Ah Ru is young and beautiful, which is inconvenient. So, we haven’t sought other jobs; the embroidery sales are mostly handled by He Fang. We find the prices acceptable and think it’s feasible to continue with this for now.”
