The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Shu Yu observed Shu Quan entering the manor, surprise flashing across her face, ”You... are also here to apply as staff?”

No, she refused.

Although Shu Quan was literate and educated amongst the elites, his character was not commendable, and he was not particularly diligent.

Even though they had cooperated before, cooperation was just mutual benefit. She still had no liking for Shu Quan.

However, Shu Quan’s expression was even more peculiar. Him, working as her shop staff? What a joke!

Having experienced several years of hardship, Shu Quan had indeed shed his arrogance. To say that he would happily take on the job of staff was an understatement, as it was certainly better than tilling the fields in Righteous Dao Village.

But Shu Yu was different; she used to be the Shu family’s illegitimate third Miss. Previously, as a legitimate son from the second wife, even if Shu Quan hadn’t had direct conflict with her, he never regarded these illegitimate sisters highly.

Such status made Shu Quan want to stay as far away from Shu Yu as possible.

Thus, as soon as Shu Yu asked, he immediately shook his head, ”No.”

Seeing his swift refusal, Shu Yu’s mouth twitched, ”Then what are you here for?”

Shu Quan paused, then pulled out a silver note from his sleeve, ”This is the silver note you stuffed to us a while ago. Returning it to you.”

Shu Yu was a bit surprised. Although it was for show at that time, Meng Yunzheng had Xia Yan slip them ten taels of silver, but it was indeed a reward for his secret correspondence.

She thought the Shu family had already used the money. Even if not, she didn’t expect them to return the ten taels silver note completely intact.

Gazing at the silver note in front of her, Shu Yu raised an eyebrow, ”Why do I feel uneasy about receiving this money?”

Shu Quan pursed his lips, ”I do have a request.”

”A request?” That word was used so subtly, Shu Quan actually said ’request’ in front of her?

Shu Quan’s face shifted slightly, taking a deep breath, ”I know you were not content in the Shu family initially, so you and we would rather not have any interactions. This is the last time, just as... a return for reminding you that Shu Feng captured the Dongqing Temple master.”

Shu Yu chuckled, ”Did you write that letter to remind us, or wasn’t it for you to escape your current predicament? Besides, you yourself aren’t quite certain about Shu Feng’s motives either.”

”However, the Dongqing Temple master is of immense importance, and I can completely seek other channels to notify the emperor. I believe he won’t sit idly by knowing about the temple master’s situation.”

Shu Yu laughed slightly. True, but wasn’t Shu Quan himself uncertain about the reliability of those other channels?

Regardless, the information he provided was real, and Shu Yu didn’t want to dwell on this matter.

So she leaned back straightforwardly against her chair, ”Alright, then tell me what you want, and I’ll consider.”

Shu Quan breathed a slight sigh of relief, knowing his words weren’t overly convincing. But Shu Yu was willing to listen, after all, it was an opportunity.

”I know you’re recruiting staff for the prefecture’s shop, and I would like to recommend someone.”

Shu Yu paused her tea-drinking movement, so he came for staff matters after all.

She thought so too, considering the timing, what pressing matters would Shu Quan have?

”Who do you want to recommend?”

”Gu Xinghua.”

Shu Yu inexplicably found the name somewhat familiar, ”He is...”

Shu Quan replied, ”He is Azhao’s man, my brother-in-law.”
